Shout out to Stealth Arms for doing things right. Seeing Tim's motivation and focusing on the customer really tells me he stands behind his product. Hes not about selling out and only doing it for the money but truly believes in his company and his staff. I have a platypus and i couldnt be any happier with it. They are top notch and priced reasonably for everyone given the level of customization. I hope they can expand their company to cut down lead times as they gain popularity.
The Platypus is amazing! Huge shout out to Stealth Arms. The quality combined with the customization and the Glock mags. It’s a literal no brainer. Such an awesome pistol. Absolutely love mine.
I ordered my first Platypus towards the end of last year and it is by far the best quality firearm that I have ever owned. I have a large collection of 1911s and 2011s, but the Platypus beats them all. So, of course I ordered another one earlier this year when the new features came out, so now I'm waiting on my commander model with the bull barrel to come in. My experience with Stealth Arms is second to none regarding quality and customer service. They are the new kings of the industry as far as I'm concerned.
I just received my Platypus from my local FFL, and boy…. The entire staff flooded around me to look at it and hold it. I’ve never seen so much hype for another persons firearm. Speaks volumes about the name Stealth Arms. Their pistol is truly unmatched IMO. Now if someone would make a f’n holster for thing. Theres only a few options as far as barrel length and trigger guard. SOMEONE MAKE A HOLSTER PLEASE.
@@HRTTacticalGearI contacted Stealth Arms in regards to a holster, and they sent me to Safariland, so I emailed Safariland to see what they suggested for my configuration. Unsurprisingly, they said they do not have any holster for my set up. Sooooooo f*ck me I guess lol.
My platypus order is about a month out...fingers crossed. I check the website every day and it stays open in my browser all day. I am soooo excited to get it.
About a month or two away from receiving my first platypus. Ironically, after watching just about every video on UA-cam about the platypus, I’m more concerned about whether I going to approve of my own Cerakote selection, than I am the build quality. ALL of reviews I can find, are just that good. Cant wait & great interview.
Ps. I couldn’t be more happy with the company’s responsiveness and CS so far. For instance, I had to make a FFL change…very minor issue, but they were on it instantly!
This was a great interview, I am a huge fan of Stealth Arms and the Platypus. I am going to be ordering my first Platypus soon, and can't wait to see what Stealth Arms comes up with next. I would love if they came out with a customizable PCC that takes Glock mags.
I was so fortunate today and found a platypus at my gun range. I was so shocked that they had. They were even shocked that they had it. I put that baby on layaway. It is the “crowd pleaser” pre set model that is on the website in the 5inch version. Im so happy I went in there today. No 24 week wait period for me! 😁😁😁
I didn’t realize how much you can configure on their site it’s basically a schematic 3d builder. After spending hours on designs I settled on one (for now) and ordered it recently. The bull barrels and .45 are awesome additions. I just went with a standard bushing and 9mm for the build.
@@seanmtak7573 Like you, I initially was going to go Bushing (my preference for 1911s). But, after watching a lot of “vs” videos on the subject, I went Bull. Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong either way with the Platypus.
@@ToddB-hp4iw haha me too actually. After I saw nightwood’s platypus video I switched my order to both bull barrels, I was on the fence before but the reviews have been great for the bull barrels as well.
My platypus is still in the queue and probably won't be ready until the end of July beginning of August. As far as options in the future, an in-house thread on comp in both the standard and trident profile. Anodizing/DLC, a universal optics mount similar to the Springfield Echelon. For their next major endeavor I'd like to see a completely original CCW, a compact narrow hammer fired concealed carry with 1911 style trigger and controls but doesn't have to be a true 1911, The size of the 365 macro, I'd be fine if it used 17 round macro magazines.
The safari land staccato als holsters work if you get the full extended rail you’ll want the staccato xc holster. The safariland 6354rds. This video shows a 5” with a threaded barrel (holster plug removed) ua-cam.com/video/QXkBMcSbGeQ/v-deo.htmlsi=GpGFr9wYAtK-E9Hj I use one of these for a Glock 17 and love it they lock in place and are frictionless, I don’t even want to use kydex holsters anymore plus it protects the finish being frictionless.
My order is in queue also, looking forward to a ported bull barrel that can be used wtih the Trident slide in the future. Also like to see a tool less guide rod offering. I have about 45 different color schemes saved. That builder is by far the best I've seen. Thanks for the interview.
@@HRTTacticalGear I second the ported barrel option. To be able to use a non ported for limited optics and switch over to a ported barrel or barrel with a comp for open would be awesome out of the same gun. I’d definitely buy an extra barrel to have on hand.
I wish holster folks would catch up with new guns. I get that they make what sells and there are so many variations that they would spend a lot on molds for very little return. If anyone made a good AIWB holster that could fit the two lengths with/without the rails and round/square trigger guards I think they would be able to corner the market like Stealth Arms has. Can't wait for my Platypus, and I hope Tim and the rest of the folks enjoy building it as much as I enjoyed designing it, and I know I will enjoy putting it on the clock.
Holsters are a crux because there are so many variants and that sucks because sometimes you are limited on what you can carry as you don't want a cheap "universal" holster
Check out River Arms LLC he makes exclusively platypus holsters and does an amazing job. He makes them in whatever variant you can think of. Sidecars, iwb, owb, and battle belt holsters
Staccato, STI legacy, Springfield, etc... I love 'em. The best build experience was Stealth Arms. Their site is top. The gun is awesome. Top notch. Really want a Platypus, but I'm concerned about the steel slide riding on aluminum rails. How long will that last? I've seen a video of a guy who put 4500 rounds through his, so that's promising.
I ordered mine in Feb. right when the new options came out and still waiting for it but would love to order a second one and wish they would come out with a installment plan seeing they are now at around 20 weeks out. Something like $500-1000 down and so much a month or week I would be all in on a second one for sure and it should be possible other manufactures are doing it.
