    The fact that a CZ shadow 2 rivals an atlas is awesome not to mention that it's way more affordable just as accurate definitely more dependable and way more durable is really a testament to the guys from CZ that designed the 75. The gun came out in 1975 that's a 49 year old design still kicking the asses of anything that money can buy. All you gotta do is get a CZ shadow or shadow 2 and throw on a compensator or get the barrel and slide ported and bam you have the world's best shooting handgun without compromising any reliability or function it's unbeatable proven design is the best to date facts

    Good stuff. I'm a CZ guy who's recently discovered 2011s. Love my Shadow 2s. I agree that they're the best price to performance, all around handgun out there, especially on sale. Mine didn't need any real upgrades except a lighter mainspring for a lighter DA pull. And to be accurate, CGW doesn't replace all the internals of the CZs into which they install pro packages... I've had CGW install 2 pro packages and I've installed 2 myself.
    I also have an Air and OMG - it is an incredible value for a competition 2011. They're hand fit and it shows. My slide to frame fit couldn't be better - zero play and it's smooth as silk. And the barrel lockup is completely solid. I've got an MPA DS9 Hybrid on order to compare to the Air. That'll be interesting. Oh, and the Air is about to be replaced by the Bul Blaze that looks even better. 🙂

    Thank you for featuring our OA 2311! Regarding the grip, the polymer grip module itself is the same between full size and compact models. The magwell is interchangeable, you could run the full size magwell on our Compact and convert to a 17+ round setup. We hope you get more time on the platform in the near future. Cheers! - Mike

    Excellent video. Shadow 2 has always been a gun that I have always wanted but never had the use case for (just not a DA/SA guy least when having to start DA). Recently getting back into competition and picked up a PDP SF for a considerable discount. Was curious what you're thoughts were on it?
    I'd also be curious to see your thoughts on the DWX. I plan to pick up one of those eventually for LO after I get decent enough with the PDP. I haven't shot comp in 10 years but when the DWX was announced i was overcome with joy. 2011 has always been too large for my hands so sitting here looking at a 1911 fire control mechanism with a CZ 75 grip sounded perfect to me.

      @SmallArmsFirearms  Місяць тому

      @@5RWill I can’t comment on the PDP’s as much since I’ve only shot one mag through one. I did like it though.
      I wanted to like the DWX a lot more. I’m going to preface this with I only shot a couple mags with it. But for me to really love my CZ I need the palm swell grips since it is fairly thin and I think that was a lot of my issue. I also hated it didn’t come optic ready. I know they have since remedied that but I haven’t tried one in about a year now.
      Me personally, for the price, and since I already have a shadow 2, I would just slap a magwell on my shadow 2 and run that in LO instead of buying the DWX. Especially since you can start in SA in LO.

    You’ve met someone now who doesn’t enjoy the Alien. I had one for a whole year. I shot it in around 50 matches and it was rare for it to get through a magazine without a failure to feed. It’s not a quick fix either. The round gets jammed between feed ramp and the magazine so you have to rip the mag out and then reinsert and rack it. Funny enough I hadn’t seen another one until the Iowa sectionals this year and he was having the same exact problems with the latest model. I felt bad for him. Also after an 11 course match your palm is pretty sore. The last complaint I would have is the constant maintenance and picky bullets because of the piston system. I traded it for a Titan and a Staccato and never looked back.

    I'm looking at the platypus 5 inch with the black nitrite finished bull barrel, full dust cover, various finish options, 3lb trigger. Originally was thinking about buying the bul SAS II TAC 5 inch (non pro) but i held the platypus right after shooting a Stacatto P yesterday (range rental) and was very impressed with the feel of the platypus (first time seeing and holding a platypus, and first time seeing and shooting a staccato). Also, i didn't like how I couldn't reach the slide release on the staccato with my shooting hand, but I can with the Platypus (although I had to adjust my grip). I'm also used to shooting polymer guns and not 1911s, so maybe that played a factor, but the platypus felt really good in my hands and right at home. Being that the Bul SAS ii tac seems to be a staccato replica has me wanting to buy the platypus instead (slide release issue and I can't customize it from the factory as i like the black nitrite finish on the barrel, while bul has polish finish)

      @SmallArmsFirearms  4 місяці тому +1

      @@drip2hard645 what feels better in your hand will make a big difference.
      I personally don’t ever use the slide stop/release and all my mags don’t have “last round lockback” so I can squeeze one more in there.
      Atlas also makes a great gas pedal for the 2011’s that does delete the slide release though. It also makes holster options difficult if you plan to use it for anything other than range toy/competition.
      I haven’t shot the bul SAS II tac yet but I would 100% grab the platypus over the Stacatto P.

    Great reviews and I love the honesty but we all have different experiences as you know and here are mine:
    For starters and as an owner of almost all of the guns that you reviewed here I will say that
    1. The alien is a brilliant gun and runs as fast and as flat as you can shoot it with the only downsides being that a) it get god awful hot, I mean too hot to handle and b) it gets dirty quickly and I mean really dirty. It is a cheat code in Limited Optics,
    2)The OA is good, but I’d say more meh than great and for the same money you can grab a DWX which is fantastic.
    3) I haven’t shot nor do I own the platypus but have heard great things.
    4). The shadow two is among the most superb firearms ever made. Whether you are a competitive shooter or just a plinker, the ergonomics are absolutely second to none and the shadow 2 compact is wonderful to performance carry.
    5) Bul Armory makes 2011s as well built and wonderful shooting as anyone. Period.
    6) lastly the Atlas. I had an Artemis built for me, I waited and waited and finally got it and truthfully was underwhelmed, not because it’s anything short of buttery and well made but because the improvement over other manufacturers didn’t move the needle for me and when the extractor broke because it was faulty I waited more that 4 months to get a replacement. Yes 4 months. The DS9 Hybrid is almost the same gun from a practical perspective and half the price with better customer service but there are other guns I enjoy shooting more. Last point on the Atlas was a bit finicky with ammo which is not good in the heat of competition
    Honorable mentions:
    1) Beretta 92x performance is a WOW
    2) Walther Q4 SF is surprisingly fantastic and the 4” barrel and the steel frame seem to balance perfectly.
    3) my fav carry gun and one of my favorite guns the Wilson Combat EDC x9 series. I have one in each size and even did my instructor qualifications with the 3.5” barrel.
    And surprise guns of choice for budget conscious people
    1) Archon type B gen 2 is unbelievable for a polymer gun
    2) the Echelon shocked me by how good it shoots
    Last comment is that the reviewer are so spot on when they say these are their finding and likewise those are mine but yours might be different. We are all shaped and built and have experienced the world differently and therefore our connection to a firearm will be as unique to us as our finger print so keep tasting all that life has too offer till you get the flavors that work with your palate!!

    I really enjoyed this. Thought you did a very nice job. The guys you were shooting with look like average shooters.. That’s a great group to test out these different levels. A high-level competition shooter can certainly feel the difference between these guns, but to the average shooter…
    I own an Athena as well as an Erebus and an Alien Creator Limited Optic. I have owned a tricked out shadow two (sold it to a competition buddy of mine who begged. My mistake) and still own an SP 01 that has been tricked out by CZ custom. I’ve shot the Bul Armory. I have owned nighthawks and Wilson’s and more staccato than I care to think about including the XC. I can’t really disagree with anything you say. I have told lots of high-end gun collectors and shooters that the best bang for your Buck is definitely CZ.
    I will say this though. The alien creator is an amazingly good gun. It’s just different from shooting the 2011 platform. I wouldn’t pick it over a 2011 and it certainly wouldn’t be the first high-end gun that I would purchase but I shoot it on steel all the time. It’s not going anywhere.
    I subscribed.

Stock shadow 2, would probably be the exact same compared to the platypus.
      If I was building a limited optics gun I'd probably go the 2011 route as the trigger can just be built faster, in my opinion at least. I also love the grip angle and ergo's of 1911/2011. Don't get me wrong, CZ ergo's are amazing too, I just shoot the 1911/2011 ergo better.
      You already have a TSO, getting a shadow 2 isn't going to be a "better" pistol. The TSO is amazing, but if you want to build a carry optics competition gun you can't use a 2011. If this is just for fun or range toy, I would say add the 2011 to your collection.
      Home defense, I would say stick with CZ because that's the battery of arms that you know with your current line up. Unless you have decent experience with 1911/2011's then flip a coin hah.

    Proud to say I’m getting in on the ground floor of this channel before it gets big. Does this mean I’m an initial investor? Entitled to 5% of the channel and future payouts 😝. Just kidding… kinda

    the platypus is 2k...you can find prodigys for 1100...and you dont have to wait 18 weeks..

      Platypus starts at $1400 on the site but yes, the wait times is what deters some.
      But sometimes you can find them ready to ship in a preconfigured setup also.
      My thing is after shooting both it’s worth it to wait for the platypus.

    Atlas poops all over CZs and Stacattos

      In terms of being a semi custom fit gun for sure.
      I’ve only shot a stacatto once and it shot just fine, but for the price I’d rather have my shadow 2.
      I love love love my atlas, but again, it cost me 5x more than my shadow 2 and the shadow 2 runs fast, super reliable, and almost returns to zero as fast.

      +1 on shadow 2. was ready to get Atlas... shot Artemis. awesome. but not 7K versus the shadow 2. and then there's the Dan Wesson dwx. fast and so so so comfy with that cz75 grip. compact is also amazing.

    The alien gun is not unique or one of a kind the desert eagle operates the same way and is way older

      No, the Desert Eagle is a gas operated rotating bolt locked action. It's more akin to an AR-15. The Alien is gas delayed. The HK P7 would have been a more appropriate comparison.

    A Alien is not single action

    • @SmallArmsFirearms
      @SmallArmsFirearms  3 місяці тому

      @@oddsparrow8522 per Troy, the director of NROI:
      “The Alien is a single action gun which is prohibited under USPSA production and carry optics rules.”
      It has an internal hammer but it also has a trigger group/assembly that is very similar to a striker fired pistol.
      I specifically called this out in my video because I didn’t want someone thinking they could use it in carry optics.
      You could make an argument for both sides of the coin on this one but USPSA has made their call that the Alien cannot be used in carry optics because they consider it a SAO pistol.

    Report the facts.
    Don't say " it has a bad trigger" or.....
    Just statr trigger pull measurements, reset distance, full trigger travel distance.. facts, no whining, no opinions . Let the consumers decide. You have small soft hands, shooter #2 has large callused long fingers. That pistol feels great to them. Let the client decide.
    Sorry, I had to bail out @ 14:00 The whining was overwhelming.👎

    • @SmallArmsFirearms
      @SmallArmsFirearms  6 місяців тому

      Well I appreciate the feedback and I can assure you I was not whining instead giving my opinion which I reiterated multiple times. Not sure why it felt like whining but it was more of a disappointment for how much the pistol costs.
      I also did say that this is my feedback and I was guessing as I currently don’t have a trigger pull gauge.
      I disagree with the small hands as I wear L to XL size gloves. As far as soft? Lol not sure on that one. I prefer palm swell grips and the most aggressive textures I can get.
      I think if you made it past the alien you might have understood but I really do appreciate the feedback on the facts part and I do agree. I wish I could have given better facts with some and had more time with them.
