- Welcome to another Mercedes Benz E55 AMG Video! Today, we're going to focus on whether or not the W211 E55 AMG is worth the extra premium over the older W210. In this video, we'll go over their performance, power trains, interior, and exterior. We'll also compare their ownership experience's, and discuss which car could be worth more in the future. As a W210 E55 owner, I never get tired of seeing those monoblock rims shine in the light at night. Very classic and timeless style
The w210 E55 was the last Mercedes Benz to actually be built by AMG. The new ones are built right along side regular models.

@@DennisBonich not the same, the 1998 was the last one man one car, as opposed to one man one engine. I believe in 1999 after popularity soared (maybe due to Men in Black) they made ten times as many but more production line style.

I love my W210 E300 Turbo Diesel. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I wouldn't buy a new car. I'd just fix this one up nice.

I used to think the e55 was ugly. Then I saw one on the highway today. It was breathtaking how mean a clean black w210 e55 looks.
They tripping on the infinity cars. They do have a fast sports kits. But they can't touch this Benz. Its too fast for to drive it up 70, its just so fast.🥰😍

W210 E55 is a timeless classic. But the W211 E55 is one of the greatest AMG cars ever. One of the greatest sport sedans ever.. what a beautiful car
I am a honda Guy, but I fell in love with the a 1997 W210 inline 6, even the rips in the seat fiils its history.
I own a W210. Had it 5 years so far and into it for $11k total. It’s an amazing ride!

W210/S210 all day despite less power. Beautiful, timeless design, interior is better looking, engine V6/V8 is more reliable

Being old enough to remember very well when the 210 came out makes me equally excited to see how loved they still are, and nervous knowing true cars like this are forever in the past. Give me mechanical suspension and naturally aspirated all day. I like computers for getting computer work done, and I like CARS for driving. 211 is obviously still an amazing vehicle. Being 10 ft away from a modern Mercedes is being 10ft away from a modern anything else. Everything is the same bubble looking copy of everything else now. Currently own a c207 e350 coupe and that is the most modern car I hope to ever own...as long as all the good ones like 210's don't get crushed rather than restored

had both. also had an e350. for some reason (i guess my driving) both newer models ate my rear tires like it was free.. they were all great, but still have more love for the w210! also w211 prices r dropping like a stone while w210 prices are climbing...

The w210's design was made to transition from the boxy shape of the w124 to the sleek curvy design of the w211,in my opinion they all look good in their way
I'd get a w208 clk55 AMG instead of the w210. One of my favorite Mercedes body styles

Nice comparo, that 210 estate is hands down the better looking more desirable car. Sure the 211 is quicker but when it comes to Mercedes there’s so much more than just straight line speed.

This video was spot on. Keep this up and you will be at 100k subs in a year! I am curious where you heard that the later years of the w210 came form the factory with bilstein shocks. I thought the only significant change was in 2000 with the purely cosmetic facelift.
Thanks! Wikipedia mentioned all W210 E55's after 2000 received, but not sure how reliable that source is... For what it's worth, I've seen 2 post 2000 W210 E55's, and they both had bilstein shocks.

They're quite similar in that they sound the same and have decent acceleration. Can't go wrong with either...
On the w210 fuel economy- the light weight and twin spark design is actually pretty decent for economy. The other day on a 150 mile/ 250km motorway trip I was able to get 30mpg or 7.6l/100km out of it which is better than heaps of much less powerful 6 cylinder cars I’ve owned.

get a w210 and throw a kleemann supercharger in and it and you will absolutely kill the w211 for every number/time - the w210 box is good for almost 1000Nm so you can up the pulley ratio as far as you dare.
W211 E55 certainly offers more performance wise w the supercharged V8. I feel the W210 E55 has better build quality and reliability. I previously owned a 04 W211 E55.
im looking to get one but i dont want to be spending crazy amounts of money on fixing it... worth the buy or should i settle for less
@@ernestoerazo6535 , considering the older E Class AMGs were close to 100,000 dollars new, I would say yes they are reliable for what they are -a performance luxury sedan. . Definitely not Honda/Toyota reliability. Always do pre purchase inspection, and look at maintenance records, unless the dealer is Euro certified.
@@joshuabushyhead6986 i meann in my area you can find e55’s for about 15-20K and also how do i do a PPI does the dealership hire someone to do the inspection or do i ?
@@ernestoerazo6535 , a legit dealer will have their vehicles inspected already, like if you find one at a Mercedes, BMW, Audi dealer. A private seller or car lot should let the car be taken to dealer to be inspected, unless they are hiding failures in the vehicle. Pre purchase inspection is usually 100-150 dollars.
I’m still debating whether to add a W210 E55 or Pre-facelift W211 E55, I currently have 07 E550 power wise just as fast as the 210 E55. Just a bit weary on SBC brakes.
I believe the SBC brake pump is now listed as a recall, so Mercedes will replace for you if it's failed. Not 100% sure on this, but I remember hearing it somewhere...

It we take out the fan clutch on the e55 w210 out and supercharge it and I think it would be similar to the e55 w211
The W210 is a nice car, but the W211 is better in almost every way. Both are great cars
there are some reliable aftermarket supercharger kits out there for NA m113 engines. Not just for AMG, they even do it for the e430s which e55 is based on. Yes it is costly around 10k euros for a comlete setup but having both power and lightweight makes it perfect. Also there are some mods available to improve 5g tronic transmission. If you spend some money and time on the w210 you would reach the perfect car. Fun fact is that at the price of a w211 e55 you can buy a w210 e430 sport pack which is an e55 with a smaller v8(transmission and brakes are same, only difference is seat pattern) and tune it around 500 hp safely.
For some reason I am oddly obsessed with the W210 e55 wagon, even though it is kinda ugly. I like it much more than the prettier w211 e55 wagon. Like thinking the actress from Ugly Betty is hotter than J Lo.
I also used to think it was ugly but when you start to looking well into it's design,the cars of that generation and how it affected the difference between previous generation and generations after it,you start to understand it has a special design that i think will withstand the test of time

W210 w55 has a 5.4 liter m113 v8 and makes 354hp. Not 390..
I think 390 is the torque rating.

The w211 looks prettier in non amg form but man is it ever shitty. But the E55 Amg is Beautiful and the more basic models are far better made

You have the wrong HP and TQ numbers for the W210 on the audio. The correct numbers are 349HP and 391TQ. Too bad you didn't have a W210 sedan instead of the wagon to compare apples to apples with the W211.
5:18 W(inter mode) S(tandard) mode, NOT sport mode.
U will feel the speed of E55 W210 from 120km up to 270km & the speed of E55 W210 from 0 to 120km is exactly same as Dodge Ram V8 5.7

Both have open diffs, which is a total shame. Why AMG did this is beyond me. I think it was finally an option on the 211 63s. I had a 211 55 for a short time, now I have a 210. The 210 is more classic and the power train/chassis is much better. The 211 is a straight line car, airmatic is terrible for anything but. And without the LSD, trying to power out of a turn is embarrassing with no grip, traction flickering, or a one tire fire. Still the E39 M5 is the better car, it’s the complete package.
w210 does not have massage seats it has lumbar support
