I know this video was years ago. Any equipment advice for east coast ocean SUP guy seeking surf type foil but also occasional flat water play too. Been long boarding 40 years and SUPing 10. Need board brand/Foil for 185lbs newbie please.
Hi Robert, once again, great video! I jump from paddle stance to surf stance too (like you). Thanks for making sense of that! Also, you have marked your pad very well with the hump over the foil bolts and “Blue Planet” letters in front, which provide “reference points” for newer foilers. I call the bump in back “braille for newer foilers”. This bump is so important, since you can just put the foot back until you feel the bump for takeoff, without looking. Also your points about where to ride the wave in the video was most useful. Sam’s comments about the IWA and Maliko 200 were so informative. I have both on order and am so excited! Also, Sam’s detailed comments about body position (leaning forward, centered, leaning back) and turning was equally informative. The details make all the difference in this sport. Once again, Thanks to you and Sam for being true “Ambassadors” of this new Sport. P.S. I will watching this video many times!
This is the best video I've seen so far on foil SUPs. Well done! But dang, now I'll have to pony up the dough for a bunch of new gear. We are just starting to see foils appear at our spot in deepest Baja. The thing I like the most is that it seems to open up a lot of new spots to surf those other kinds of waves where you are out in front riding the bump.
I thoroughly enjoyed and learnt from this video, but can you please explain how to pump the board? I’m having issues catching some waves if they aren’t steep enough for the board to get going. Thank you
Thanks for the comment Donna, that is a good topic for a future video, I'll post something on that soon. For now you will find some good tips here: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Foiling/Epiphany-on-how-to-pump-a-SUP-foil-
Hi Jimmy, you keep posting about your inflatable Foil board, haha. It's not really a new idea, here is a forum page about them if you want to discuss your inflatable foil board ideas: efoil.builders/t/inflatable-board-for-e-foil/462 I don't really see the point of using inflatables as the foil boards are not that big and the limited stiffness and design options of inflatables really limit the perfomance potential. Let us know how it goes in the Scottish spring and summer, we are sticking with hard boards for now.
Thanks for the info and have a good new year I have transport problems limited to what you can carry on public transport health and safety and all that I used an off the shelve board and skim board strapped onto the inflatable with wood and metal bolts totally home made idea
Great video, really helped explain!
I’m so glad this video is still helping

This is a great help for us newbies. I especially like the details on foot placement and stance transition. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the comments Michael! I'm hoping to visit you in Florida sometime soon and foil some of the waves you have there. Aloha, Robert
