God imagine how much Erwin would’ve loved this lore drop. His dad was so right.
The title of episode 21 is actually the Series title drop in japanese: Shingeki No Kyojin is the name of both the show and this episode.
It is also intended to be a bit of Japanese word play and poorly translated into English.
Author intended the title to have two meanings. Attack of the Titans, & the Attack Titan based on the multiple ways you can interpret the article "no" and the fact Japanese doesn't have plural form of words so Kyojin can be one titan or titans.
I loved how you connected all the pieces. It’s truly staggering how much info they gave us within these three episodes. Yes, there are still questions. But most of them are answered now, for once you’ve gotten more answers than questions.

Here's a little fun fact about episode 21 for the future.
During the entire first half, you can see Eren mimicking everything Grisha and Kruger do. The way they're sitting, the direction they're looking at, the intonation in their voices. Like Hange said, it's almost like he's having a conversation with himself, only occasionally coming back to talk to others around him.

Yeah. So as a Japanese native, I wondered why the name of the show in English is Attack on Titan, not Attack(ing) Titan, when I enjoyed the show live.
@ I guess cause it sounds kinda weird. The west likes to do it, I’m from Germany where it’s almost a national al sport to change movie titles drastically for no reason.
If you now rewatch the show, including the endings, you’ll see SO MANY things foreshadowing everything.
Fun fact, a lot of the Eldian names and mythology around the titans is taken from Norse mythology as a start.
Ymir in norse/Germanic mythology is the common ancestor of all of the jötuun, or in English the giants.
The Coordinate, looking like a Giant tree connecting all Eldians is reference to the World Tree.
The 9 different titans is reference to the 9 realms of Norse Mythology.
Colossal Titan, extreme heat is reference to Musphelheim. Musphelheim is a world of fire and most importantly Surtr a fire giant of Musphelheim brings about Ragnarok just as the Colossal Titans attack begins the story.
Midgard is Earth, the Attack Titan represents the anger and frustration of man.
The others relation are a bit more up for interpretation.

Jaw - Ymir from the 3 member of Reiner's group when they came on the Island.
Beast - Zeke
Founding Titan - Erin. Need royal blood to fully utilize power which Erin doesn't have.
Cart - not fully introduced yet but has debuted with Zeke.
Really only 1 other Titan shifter that has not been shown. Not introduced for some time.
The pain of seeing Eren change so much. Him going from wanting to kill every single titan to holding on and calling it a fellow patriot is so sad. Just the revelation that this entire show so far we've been fighting our own people is so sad.
Floch was not in the group when Erwin gave his speech back in s1. There was a different recruiter you could see in 3x16
Exactly. Also, Erwin was being too negative on purpose to make people choose a diffeent path (other than the scouts) so it would be easier to catch the spies he knew had infiltrated the military and would pick the scouts so they would be closer to Eren.

Someone mentioned earlier about the title of episode 21, but 38:05 when it flashes forward to Eren is the title drop, Shingeki no Kyojin. It makes a bit more sense in Japanese, where it could mean both "the titan of attack/attack titan" or "attack on titan."
Yeah, just the fact that it's actually a title drop in japanese. In english, since they called the show ''Attack on Titan'' it just doesn't work, they can't call the Titan ''Attack on Titan'' lol.

Isayama was rejected by publishers so many times while he was writing this story. Imagine how many times he had to re-write the story to make it interesting... I bet, those publishers regret not giving him a chance or it was simply a redirection that led to this masterpiece.

1:00:17 no they haven't spoken the truth always, normally it was a lie or otherwise they had too few recruits, that's why they asked Erwin why he told them that 30% of them will die on the next mission. Erwin was more like exclusion to the rule. Floch probably wasn't there where Erwin was recruiting and got into some another low-level commander. In fact, if you watch attentively, there's one scene shown where some scout commander is telling lies to recruit people, giving them speeches about some noble cause or something, but never said about death rates. Basically, it's a situation where our perspective is skewed, because he had too few hints about all of this. But in fact, scouts aren't so much better than military police, in their own way. It's just Erwin was the best that is.

You're right about N korea in a different way. What N Korea does is complete blockage - a wall with no holes, which affects their development and touch with reality. It affects their progress. To all the new recruits Armin is expendable (because they haven't worked with him before nor they are childhood friends as Floch says)., and Levi's reasons to let Erwin die were completely emotional ones (he felt pity for his friend and decided they should let him rest).

Episode 21 is where we realize the English translation of the show title is incorrect.
Shingeki = Attack
Kyojin= Titan(s), no plural form in Japanese.
No = shows connection between two words. Can be translated a bunch of different ways. Can show possession, or for grammatical sense could be prepositions like on/of/by. Most often it
Shingeki no Kyojin can be interpreted a a few ways because of the possessive/relation article "no" and the lack of plural form for Titan in Japanese. It could be it could be literally Attack on /by/of Titan(s) as it was translated for title. Or it could be the Titan of Attack/ Attack Titan, classifying what type of titan as we see in episode 21.
The author was playing around with word play so intended it to be Attack of Titans & the Attack Titan. Without the backstory though English translators just took literally translation which is why the title doesn't make much sense in English.

As we will see, Eren needs an extremist like Floch for his plan to work.
If you watched a war movie following Floch in his training and his first real mission, showing him talking and laughing with his buddies, having dreams, taking about what he's willing to die for, etc. ... only to have it culminate in Erwin's last charge and the death of everyone but him... and his last ditch, down to the wire mission to get the wounded commander back for the only medical treatment possible.
But they choose some guy's childhood buddy over him? You'd see why he feels what he feels. He knows he's fodder. He just wanted to have his sacrifice be for something meaningful. He feels the MC is treating the sacrifice of the little people too flippantly. Eren's buddies, to him, shouldn't be anymore important than one of the fodder characters that died.
