Couldn't agree more - there is a portion of the brain called the Amygdala - this is the portion of the brain that manages decision making in the human brain - it is not fully developed until early adulthood - to be clear, that means that children's ability to make sound decisions is hampered - this is why you ask your kids why they did a thing and you get a "I don't know" response ... because they don't.

We don't allow minors to buy alcohol, tobacco products, marijuana, or vote. We don't allow them to get married or join the military without their parent's consent before the age of 18. @@jordangomes1393 Puberty blockers don't sterilize you. At least not in the dosages used for this purpose. They DELAY puberty. It gives the kid a few years time to sort themselves out and make an informed decision on whether or not to go through with transition, and so they're not forced to go through body changes they don't want. Surgery doesn't happen until MUCH later. If they decide that it's not for them, all they have to do is stop taking the puberty blockers! The only real drawback to using them is potential calcium deficiency, but that's easily countered by the calcium supplements you get in the pharmacy isle.
This is incorrect. Puberty blockers are not irreversible. The way they work, and the way we use them in our medical system, is that it pauses puberty while the individual takes time and decides what they want to do. Typically, under our current policy this is for about a year or so and usually no younger than 16. During this time the individuals receive mandated therapy to decide if they want to go through with these things.
If you go off of puberty blockers, your puberty resumes. I know this because I’ve done it and have been through all this.

Puberty blockers aren't a "life altering medical procedure," they're meant to delay puberty a few years so that the kid has the TIME to figure out if they want to go through life altering medical procedures. If they then decide not to go through with it, all they have to do is stop taking the puberty blockers, and no harm is done. They just end up with a late-stage puberty, which sometimes happens naturally anyways.

Tattoos are less permanent than the damage caused by puberty blockers and these “life saving procedures”, but you need to be an adult to get a tattoo. You can’t stop children from going through a natural process that both male and female bodies go through, it’s unbelievably damaging to future development of the body.
Tattoos aren't medically necessary, and just because it's natural doesn't mean is wanted. Cancer is natural. This is helpful medicine.

Pierre is correct on this. It is a decision that must involve parents so long as they are the child's legal guardian. If the parents give consent to ANY treatment (this, that or other) it is theirs to give. Once the child reaches adulthood (or the legal capacity to make their own decisions), then the choice is solely theirs to make. Further to that, he is correct in that it is a Province's purview, not the Federal government's. Lastly, he is correct that Trudeau is using it as a "there there, look there (and not here)" tactic to avoid his own accountability.
NOBODY should have the right to make these decisions until a child reaches an age where they are legally allowed to operate a car.

We're talking about the mental and physical well-being of thousands of children and youth, and more broadly about the ability of the government to influence the medical decisions of both adults and minors.
