Use the rear red spring that came with your td2. It’s the same spring as the dt02 Ms just painted red. Tamiya support confirmed this. The front end it really light compared to the dt02 so the red front springs might work better also

Hey Glen. I reckon I’ve watched nearly all your videos. I saw your video about feeling a bit unmotivated with the hobby at the moment, and I can relate. I have been in this hobby since I was 12 (I turn 47 on Monday) and in 2022 I opened an RC hobby shop. They say that if you turn your hobby in to your job, you’ll lose the passion for it, and it 100% does. But, I don’t know if this helps, but I absolutely love your breezy and honest videos and how incredibly genuine you are. I love watching you chronicle your hobby activities, and I just wanted to say thank you.

I am in the same boat. My passion to actually work on them is kinda fading. I honestly didn't touch one last year. I got so many rc's I think I want to liquidate them. Most of them at nitros and 15 years old. All in different stages of disrepair. I find it hard to let go tho. I wish I had the old me back about the hobby.

Your right about the car being solid, even though it’s plastic. Mine one I upgraded the shocks and the pinion gear, to a 19tooth, and slapped in a sport tuned, and watch it fly!!!! I put aluminium hpi shocks adjustable in the rear, and just standard Tamiya shocks in the front. For me it’s one of the best 2wd Tamiya car I’ve driven. Handles like a pro!!!

The Chassis looks really nice considering the price of this car. And I see some throwback to the ORV chassis that the frog used in the mainframe of the chassis 😀👍.

The gear box is bullet proof (to a point). Week bits are the rear the chassis as that takes the hits. Not broken anything yet. Upgrades. The aluminium servo mount, rear chassis brace and the aluminium battery holder are a must. I've got the aluminium suss mounts but the charbon ones are better.

Loved my build. I can see this being the modern day Hornet if you know what I mean... Cheap, easy to build and a real fun drive too. Can't wait to see how this goes forward.

Great vid buddy! The DT-03 is a modern day classic like its predecessor the DT-02 tamiya has really produced two great budget friendly and has to be said decent platforms!
I was surprised the first time l drove mine in anger! The DT-03 loves a modest Brushless set up and tough little buggy too it can take some rough and tumble that surprised me!
    Cheers James.

So I'm thinking of getting one and giving it a Star Wars X-wing paint job. Like, the body in gray with blue-gray around the cockpit window, dirty yellow and red stripes on the nose and the sides, with red 5 markings on the wing.

Good to see you enjoying the build, these are fun cars to drive around. Just so you know, you forgot to install 2 screws when you mounted the rear section to the frame. Should be 2 screws that hold that upper mount section into the main chassis. #24 in the instruction booklet. Also, if you want to install a standard hard case Lipo battery, you would want to remove two pieces of the foams supporting the battery. 😉

I found that the CVA shocks work really well. Better than any after market shocks that I could fine. I just changed the springs in the rear using the Tamiya spring set. Just ran the red springs in the rear

I had a DT03, but I converted it to a DT02 and it was much better. The DT03 understeers a hell of a lot due to the long wheelbase, but the DT02 is much more stable, turns in way better. Anyway, it's still a great starter kit, and I can't wait to see what you do with it!!

They are great running and easy to build kits for sure! I have the GT tuned motor in mine and they run great. It is kind of a missile shaped thing that is different from the classic tub style chassis but they are nice and stiff and take a good bit of abuse!

I have one of these. It goes well, not a bad design, if not exactly orthodox. I reckon decent tires, shocks and a slipper if one can be sourced and I think these would be a decent club racer. Oops! Turnbuckles as well.

Gear box and suspension arms black, with a gray chassis.. seems odd. Back in the day, gray parts meant not kit parts, but Tamiya replacements.
The shape is similar to a long banana 🍌 I’m not a fan but I’m sure others really enjoy it.
REALLY REALLY can’t wait for your TRF dream build, with all those. Allow parts

Looking forward to seeing what you do with this build. I am building Racing fighter right now was curious. On what the difference is? From yours to mine which. I do know that the price difference was a little higher on the one you're building compared to the one I have. Now the question is do I do box art or kind of my own design pretty fun build so far?.

    • @Droidy77
      @Droidy77 Рік тому +1

Styling is the only difference - body, and wheel style, and shock colour, and front tire tread (which can make a noticeable turning difference depending on the surface).
My guess is that this one is more expensive only because it has the optional Neo Frog stickers (which are lovely) and the nostalgia factor to go with it.
Personally, I think the other racing fighter body is a bit easier to do a custom paint job on. And I wouldn't worry about the tire difference because you can experiment with race tires if you're concerned about performance.
There're also a few kit variants that *don't* include the Torque Tuned motor, the CVA shocks or the ESC.
