Despite the 1-0 score in the 1st leg, Canada totally dominated both matches vs Suriname & should have won the 1st match by at least 3-0. Suriname had zero shots on goal in the 1st match & 1 shot on goal in the 2nd match vs Canada. There is always a lot of talk about Jesse Marsch's whole offensive 'Press' strategy; but Canada's team defence has been totally underestimated, or underappreciated. Since Canada played France, they have had 6 clean sheets in 12 matches! With the exception of the two 2-0 matches vs Argentina in the Copa, Canada only allowed more than 1 goal once, in the other 10 matches & that was vs Uruguay & that was because of a last minute goal by Uruguay & it was mostly against Canada's B team.. Nobody in Concacaf has even come close to Canada defensively, since Marsch has arrived. Pretty impressive!
I find it odd that Canada's defence isn't talked about more. Davies and Bombito are getting their flowers (and rightfully so), but I haven't really seen anybody mention the fact that Johnston made the Copa America team of the tournament and that Cornelius is a starter in Ligue 1. Their defence definitely has to be mentioned more
It's crazy how in over the past couple years defense has been Canada's major issue and now their backline is the best thing about them. Went from a back three with Vitoria and Kamal Miller to Johnston/ Cornelius/bombito/davies
My QF takeaway: please do an NL finals preview with JJD TV and Tactical Manager. Show ESPN FC what football analysis is supposed to look like (minus Herc, that guy gets a permanent pass).
Yes, I agree & if Josh from JJD TV is not available, you could invite some of the other excellent Canadian analysts from 'Onesoccer' such as Kristian Jack; Jordan Wilson; Oliver Platt & Alex Gangue-Ruzic. You could also invite the excellent ex-Canadian player analysts from the 'Footy Prime' podcast, Jimmy Brennan (he also is the analyst for the televised matches on OneSoccer & CBC); Amy Walsh (Affectionately called Dubbs) & Craig Forrest. *Jimmy can be a bit crusty sometimes; but he is very knowledgeable. 😁
9:27 I think it's less so Suriname being a bad match up for Koné and more so that he's been struggling with injuries after the Copa America. It wouldn't surprise me if he's a little rusty and a little out of form due to the injuries
As a Canadian supporter who watches him play a lot Kone is wildly inconsistent. He well have a stellar performance against an opposition like France, Argentina, Uruguay every once and a while but will follow it up with a handful of shaky games. Tons of potential but keep in mind that prior to his move to Marseille this was a guy who was a 65/35 starter for Watford in championship.
I agree with both comments. Kone can be inconsistent but I think it's a bit more about his health here. If he had been getting consistent reps in at Marseille he would have punished a team like Suriname. I really believe he can become the best CM in the region
I’m half Mexican and half Salvadoran but my team is USMNT… I used to hate watch DeadBallTV, but he’s grown on me and his videos have gotten better… Respect him especially for him looking like a 70’s movie villain. Hope DeadBall reads this😂
I personally like the way that Jack has a relatively unbiased, open minded, international perspective, unlike 95% of the soccer/futbol podcasts out there. He will heavily criticize his own favourite country team (Mexico) & the place that he lives (USA); but he also gives them the appropriate props when they actually deserve it. Still, he is not delusionally way overboard on his assessments of those countries teams, as almost all other American podcasters are. He also takes the time to truly look carefully at all of the other CONCACAF & CONMEBOL countries objectively & he seems to know all of their strengths & weaknesses at a fairly granular level, which takes a lot of time & effort.
I think Panama with the players they have have reached their peak, if Costa Rica had someone like Thomas Christensen I genuinely think they could challenge for the NL
@@Etatdesiege1979 I'm not even Costa Rican I'm just saying if Panama with the players they have can get to 4th in Concacaf with a good coach imagine what CR could do having better players then Panama
The Nations cup is where it's at. As usual, most of the best players, playing in Europe, will not be playing in the 2025 Gold cup because FIFA will be holding a club tournament in the same timeframe.
I was completely disgusted by the football ⚽️ I witnessed from dem ReggaeBoyz 🇯🇲. Lack of fight, atrocious defense, non-existent attack, SHAMBOLIC midfiled. We just looked like we didn't want to be there😒 . Demari Gray still looked pedestrian despite the 2 goals late. Connor & Jack were completely right about us: All hype, no substance. Jamaica 🇯🇲 deserves to be relegated to League B after that horrendous display. We will never be taken serous until we fix our Federation, overall attitude, and infrastructure.
I´m agree with you. Suriname approach this match-up in a very cowardly way, Menzo start the second leg with the same shit the use in the first, a game plan that didn´t work & the most frustanting thing is that he never chance the midfield the reason why they wasn´t attacking having players with the potencial to do that, a slight step back on convincing the diaspora to join them i think. And Jamaica... i have nothing to say about their performance. it´s the same shitty performance they always deliver, recruiting English players just works to be superior than most of the Central american teams & Qualifying to the WC but nothing else. another step back in the proyect, they end this QF appearance humiliated & they were trying to practice a football with some weak players in the slabon who don´t have the level to do so.
@@rodrygothemaster3141 Possibly. I don't think there is much between 10 thru 15. Checking the ELO ratings just now, Curaco is 15th and Suriname 14th. I also just checked the live FIFA rankings, and Curacao is 10th and Suriname 14th. The ELO ratings focus on more recent performance and looks at additional factors such as home or away factors and how close matches were, whereas the FIFA rankings are much longer term indicators. It's much harder to rise or fall significantly in the FIFA rankings. So I think I've got it about right: neither Suriname or Curacao are currently top 10.
Stock up on malagon is crazy…💀 Malagon shouldn’t be starting. Hopefully Alex Padilla gets called up and starts to because good lord Malagon is doing the same mistakes as Ochoa.
Yea right we should use a young, 3rd-4th pick goalie for ATHLETIC BILBAO over an experimented, starter goal keeper for America that is in his prime and has been good for the nt🤦🏽♂️ keep on being delusional😹
@ la neta bro i think you’re more delusional… the fact that you want a América GK who is Average if that to be a starter is insane! Obviously Padilla isn’t a starter but he still has some matches under his belt. It’s not like malagon will ever face Barcelona and truly know his potential, you jackass 😹 this Mexico team is so far from coming back you might as well start the only keeper we have who is young and in Europe than Ochoa. Otherwise malagon will be the Ochoa 2.0 with televisa wanting him at the age of 36-40 and everyone will be crying and saying “ya retirate! Fuera malagon!”
🇭🇳😓hello darkness my old friend…
Your national team was doomed as soon as that beer can struck Aguirre’s head.
Joel Campbell only being 32 is certainly a surprise.
I was thinking 35-36
A surprise to be sure, but a pleasant one.

top 15 right now, in groups of three: 1st 3: (USA, MEX, CAN); 2nd 3: (PAN, CRA, JAM); 3rd 3: (HND, HAI, GUA); 4th 3: (SLV, TRI, NCA); 5th 3: (CUR, SUR, MTQ). GLP challenging.
