    Wow - that last tip especially is amazing. Dry run + find peak is just phenomenal and something I’ve wanted to do for years. So useful when prepping to send to mastering…

    Just another awesome video covering something that's been on my mind for about 6 months. Thank you Kenny. I always wondered how to zero in the clip points and correct them. Perfect timing again. This video is so helpful to me. Better still, I need your help. This is extremely important. The vocal in is this tutorial mix is sounding so good. I have been trying for a long time to achieve this balance. Kenny can please do a tutorial on how you placed the vocal in the mix and what plugins you like to use get this result. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to all us Reapermaniacs.

    Why is it that when you jump to first peak position you always find that nothing at that position could possibly be to loud because there's louder shots of a snare ( for example ) before and after that are hitting louder on the monitors and don't clip ... ??

    Thanks very much for making this explanation! I had queried about this very issue on another of your videos. Much appreciated!
    With regards to the last method (doing dry runs then jumping to the loudest points one at a time) I had somehow managed to figure this out on my own. However, If you have a 45 minute or hour long track (say voiceover or podcast) there can be MANY peaks that need to be reduced. If you happen to use a lot of plugins it can take a long time to render. To do so for dozens of cases - one at a time - is practically ridiculous.
    There is an opportunity here for a plugin developer I think. To somehow highlight the peaks, their volume and their position. Or maybe even automate them to a predetermined target. Or maybe there is another method that is obvious I just do not know. Based on the other comments here it appears not, so far.

      He mentioned 'doing this with Automation' and that might be the ticket. Potentially making Actions on what you just did, bind it to a key press, and speeding it up that way.

    So at the start I kinda just skipped the intro.. but then it looked so cool when he opened his arms that I pressed 0 to watch it XD This video looks awesome and thank you for the help.

    Dry run , Dry run , Dry run every time I want to see where it sucks :) but isn't there a way to eliminate these extra clicks? Any real-time pop-up window showing me what is going on without the need to go to dry run again and again?

    One of the things I find is that some reverb plug-ins as well as some midi instruments don't reset properly for the 2nd pass of the normalize function. So sometimes I hear an artifact from the end appear slightly there in the beginning. It can all be fixed when it happens, but I find I have to be careful with that normalize function, That is unless they fixed it recently. I'll have to check again.

    Without instruction I’d assume that “Jump to first clip position in a project” meant something completely different. Changing it to “…first clipping” would fix that.

      in REAPER terminology clip doesn't have any other meaning
      what may be called clip in other DAWs is item in REAPER

    Kenny please correct me if I am wrong but I would have just turn all the tracks down a little in the mixer window instead of touching the master buss fader. I have heard never to touch the master buss fader.

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  2 роки тому +3

      No reason NOT to touch the master fader. It is a good practice to make sure you don't forget that you moved it and why things don't sound like you'd expect but there's NO sound quality reason not to touch it. It's just the final output of your mix.

    Nice work Kenny! Just wondering... when you select "jump to first clip position in project", how do you know which track is clipping? Thx

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  2 роки тому +3

      None of them are by themselves. They all are when they're added up together so there's really no "best" choice other than looking for the track(s) with a taller peak than usual.

    • @vincentguarino4262
      @vincentguarino4262 2 роки тому

      @@REAPERMania Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking, but I didn't know if there was a different way to tell if it was an individual track. 👍
