You're a good man. I'm not surprised. Every guy I ever met from TN is a good guy. But you're also a good Dad...and that's something else entirely. Good on you, brother. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for what you do!
Sir Nathan and young Bruno Esquire on their shining steed, surveying their land and showing us round their estate, the smell of Root Beer and Coffee follows comfortingly behind.
My kids suffered from seasonal allergies, have you tried raw honey (not the store bought junk) , about a teaspoonful every day from spring and fall honey collections, it needs to be local to you honey. All of the pollen collected by the bees will build Bruno's immune system. It will take a few months but worth it in the long run. Good Luck to you and Bruno
Such great looking wood grain in the root beer wood. Sure would be nice to have a sniff . Here in Nova Scotia I don’t think we have that kind of tree . Nathan, my hat is off to you. Not many dads would stop what they’re doing to take their child for a rip in the buggy. Great to see. Funny how kids will always remember the time spent doing little things like that.
I worked for a logging company which kilned dried their lumber which was mostly hardwood we had 27 big kilns which they dried with their own sawdust fired furnace nothing went to wast
Beautiful Sassafras la la ta dee, Out of the Woods makes boards out of me,,,,,,that’s right, sing along,,,,,,Beautiful Dreamer tune. Bruno will always have great memories of riding with Dad in the evenings. Well so would I! Thank You Kindly Nathan! Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
I am sure you don’t feel this way but watching your operation is so relaxing. Almost smelled the root beer. Just wondering if you slabbed sassafras in the winter with snow on it would it smell like a root beer float. Or better yet mix the saw dust with snow………… oh never mine. I really enjoy your videos!
Loved tonight’s video, great mix, poor Bruno, when I was his age I suffered from allergies too, in my case it was horses, hay, dust etc and I really only wanted to be in the stable all day, take care
I was really hoping you'd be able to load that entire tractor load of slabs right into the kiln. What a time saver that would be. Is there a reason this wouldn't work?
Great video Nathan. That kiln would be a great addition to any sawmill shop. I’ll have to try solar since there is no power here. Love the detail descriptions you give as well. Carry on my friend and we will be watching. Smoky Mountain Outpost
Good video Nathan, looks like things are working out with the milling, can't wait to see more of it. Good to see Bruno with you for his evening ride . Stay safe and keep up the good videos. Fred
Phew, that technical jargon went right over my head, but I'm sure there are folks out there who understood every word!---That was beautiful wood grain. I imagine there's folks out there who can't wait to purchase some!---Oh my, the outtakes...I love your speech and wish you'd forget about re-do's and just keep the natural flow going!---Hiya Bruno, always happy to see you!
Morning Nathan from sunny Scotland 🏴 (for change) I was thinking of building a kiln nothing like the size or professionalsness of yours but one thing i wondered is it better to make sure the kiln is pretty full every time u run it or is it just as good to run it with what ever you can put in it each time? Big love to u Bruno and the family! 👍🏴 Am guessing cabbage and the rest the cats will love the kiln glad to see your cat man like myself ave 6 right now.
From the experience ave had working in large scale sawmill I believe if anything it'll only peel bits of bark off there pulling chains there only a tooth style every 6-12 inches a believe could be different with Nathan's 👍🏴
The squared cants with finished-faces will get torn up with a log turner chain Its a known-problem in the industry. It doesn't matter at all if you are turning against faces that have bark/wane. But it can tear up grade-lumber quickly.
Poor Bronco, I cover my son's, window screen with muslin cloth, enjoy fresh clean air. Love all your videos, just up route 80, about seven hours. Take care neighbor.
Hi, Nathan, I love al the crazy places you manage to put your cameras. 😜 It Very often takes me a minute, to figure out what I'm looking at. 🙃🙃 Question: How do you deal with your saw dust? (where does it go?) Have you considered some kind of vacuum system, to take it directly from the saw and dump it outside, out of your way or into a waiting (something) to move it where it needs to go?
Love the outtakes! Poor Bruno! I have the same problem, just varies from day to day. I’m in so many states it is crazy when I am in each area. Hello to Bruno! God bless you two! Take care!🎚🙏🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Someday if Bruno wants to earn a little extra money, you could let him collect up some of that sassafras sawdust into small cloth bags, put those inside a Ziploc, autograph them and mail them out to us!
I have some big sassafras on my place. I found a big curved one and slabbed it off and used it above my rock fireplace wall. No way to attach a photo here, but it's cool!
Taylor made a very limited edition of guitars with sassafras back and sides about five years ago. They were beautiful. I bet you could sniff the sound hole of one of those and smell root beer.
Allergy sympathies for Bruno! I have a good friend who has worn masks for a few weeks in spring for a long time because oak and maple pollen tries to kill her. I hope it helps you as much as it does her!
Hey Nathan have you noticed a difference on the moisture reading if you go with the grain vs across the grain with your moisture probes? We always go across but didn’t know if it mattered.
Nathan, do you have all sorts of laws regarding transporting logs/lumber over state lines, down there? They are very strict with it up here in New England because of the invasive bug species. Keep up the good work👍
Thanks for the video, and it's top notch as always. I've finally trained myself to check my email as soon as I logon to see if I've gotten a new one from Patreon to watch. Make sure you keep an eye out for Cabbage for sure, might chase a field mouse up behind the stack and end up completely out of site, that would be a sad thing.
Nathan, I don't recall you mentioning how we can go about buying lumber from you. I'd love to get some of that sassafras. Never worked with it. Any links to a site we can go to?
I'm trying to make panel saw handles. If I had 1 foot of 1" thick by 6" boards I can make 2 handles out of that 1 foot board. I love your videos, that is except when I see the burn pile and hundreds of saw handles going up in smoke. lol
Fun fact: Alexander Hamilton was notorious for talking to himself, regardless of where he was and he was an absolute genius. My mother always said that people who talk to themselves have money in the bank, but in my case that ain’t necessarily true!
@@OutoftheWoods0623 I like when you show releasing the tension on the blade, every time I see it I ask myself if "Did you remember to release the tension on the band saw last time you used it" and the answer is usually no. I'll end up having to replace the wheel bands before I know it!
Sorry friend, been watching you from day one small timewoodworker but am looking for an old lovely female song once played years ago that makes me aglow could you please bring it up
Don't worry about the accent, buddy! I never knew sassafras was so pretty. We liked it for firewood as a kid, because of the light weight and high btu.
That wood is stunning! Does it keep that color over time? I’ve been wanting to build this chalk board frame from 8/4. With some fatty 4-5” stiles & rails. 4’x 8’. Hung by the kitchen. I love that blond, peanut butter, and chocolate coloring. That rift sawn. Oh my lord! I think Ida have to cheat on my lover, walnut.
Does the TYM dealer send his crew out to your place a couple times a month to wash and wipe down your tractors?? They always look like you just drove off the dealer lot.
When you air dry before putting different thickness boards into your kiln - what moisture roughly are they so there’s not a problem ? Thanks for the video !!!

"Off cuts" is the perfect name for outtakes on a sawmilling channel. 😄
I've spent several hours this week looking for a system like this.
Sir Nathan and young Bruno Esquire on their shining steed, surveying their land and showing us round their estate, the smell of Root Beer and Coffee follows comfortingly behind.
Why is it so relaxing watching a sawmill cut lumber? Hey to Bruno.

You should include a tea bag of sawdust with every merchandise purchase while supplies last.
I find this channel to be educational and the outtakes funny.
Thank you Nathan for showing the sassafras. I never knew that it had so much figure.

Truly magnificent wood, it’s a pleasure to watch you work ✌🏼
That sassafras plank you first showed us was absolutely beautiful.
A couple of those would make awesome coffee and end table set tops.
I like the updates

My father's property had several sassafras trees 28" - 34" and still has one about 25", these old trees here in western PA.
Good looking boards.

Hey Bruno I hope you out grow those allergies soon and enjoy the out side even more.
I've been wondering... Does the chain used to rotate the logs cause any real damage? The logs tend to look chewed up in that area.
The planner will likely take care of most of the damage from the turner and finish sanding will get the rest.

from the saw and dump it outside, out of your way or into a waiting (something)
to move it where it needs to go?
I really enjoy making and drinking sassafras tea
I'll have to settle for a couple of bottles of root beer Tractor Supply sells. Got them yesterday, chilling in the fridge.

Might have told you before but here in the Deep South folks also dry and grind the leaves to make filet gumbo which is the seasoning for gumbo.
I have some big sassafras on my place. I found a big curved one and slabbed it off and used it above my rock fireplace wall. No way to attach a photo here, but it's cool!
PLEASE KEEP THE OUTTAKES COMING!! LOVE THEM!😂
Makes really good tea too. Add a little honey and yuuuummmmy
Looks like some nice spalting on that Sassafras, or is that the natural colouring of the wood?
Great video, what kiln are you using? you did not say & it isn't listed - Tyler
them Cedar Logs at the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time

Always go with the grain. Not across the grain. 👍 per delmhorst
@@OutoftheWoods0623 thank you sir!
I love ur videos, how long would it take to kiln dry 8/4 walnut 800 ft.with the woodmizer kd150 kiln?I'm interested in buying one.
Air dry first then about 14 days
I would not get too caught up trying to make perfect videos, your time is valuable and we know what you mean.

You should produce your own dictionary, love the outtakes.😀
I don't remember you ever mentioning making tea with Sassafras roots. Best when harvested early in the Spring just as the sap is rising.
Rototiller makes an excellent rear weight for using the forks, doesn't it!

what is the purpose of the circular black bladder I saw at end of video ?
Holds air tension on the blade

need a pro tip how do you not have termites. I live in Wv and termites get in my lumber when I air dry it
Any chance some of that sassafras ends up 8/4? It's a candidate to replace swamp ash in electric guitar building.
I thought you said there was a link to buying a root beer piece of wood. But I might be blind because I don’t see you site.
He said there will be a link once it's dry.

Good to se Bruno again! How did the foam concrete replacement work? Any thoughts on it?
Good stuff. I’ll use it again
Beautiful lumber, Sassafras. Root Beer.
Well, the roots do make good tea. Not sure about the rest of the tree.
I say leave the "outcuts" in! We know what your saying. We all stumble over our eye teeth all the time. Least I do.... 🤣
Can you share a link to your etsy store?
He said there will be a link when wood has been dried.
About time you start letting Bruno drive
Offcuts sounds just right for those ‘goofs’. 😆
Link to your Etsey?
Check out his Website, listed in video description.
Knockawatt....is that the correct spelling??? Lol...
Yes they say allergy season is going to be burial this year.
👍 👍
dont't forget cabbage the cat in the kiln
Is knockawatt spelled like this or like knockawhat?
At the end there I thought you were looking forward to nachos, cheese and jalapenos
Suggestion: It would be fun to see Bruno driving you around one evening.
Had in mind all wood had to be the same thickness going in kiln.
If air dried first no
Does Bruno run the tractor himself ???
