      GreatSageEqualofHeaven Dwayne Johnson definitely has the physical build and skin tone to give the appearance of an Middle-Eastern superhuman. With a wig for Black Adam's widow's-peak hairstyle, he'd have the look for sure. (Either that, or Adam can be made bald for the movie.)
      The only question is, can Johnson pull off the regal attitude and the accent? I'm thinking more of a "maybe" than a definite yes.
      Either way, hell yeah, I'd LOVE to see a good Shazam/Captain Marvel movie.

      An ant has no quarrel with the boot as Loki implied. And if a deified being is wounded, is it still a god or merely a superhuman that can be mortally defeated through means of gaining strength like the Wizard?
      Penny for thoughts. My 2 cents on the matter. I think Black Adam is a god (in DC universe) but he's blinded by ego to fail to realize that the Wizard can take his power and revert him back to being a mortal... Like Gnostic theory that Yaldabaoth is weaker and arrogant while Yesh/YHWH is stronger yet much humble.
      To the eye of the mouse, a lion is a monster or evil, we just simply got used to being the monster rather than the mouse until a Higher being (God) arrives.

  • @bibniebt
    @bibniebt 8 років тому +40

    Cool as it was, his metaphor doesn't make much sense in context. An ant is not self-aware. It is an animal that operates entirely on instinct. Humans are vastly intelligent sentient creatures with complex and abstract thought processes, just like Black Adam himself. His only edge is being physically more powerful. Unlike, say Trigon, who lives and rules on a plane we can only barely comprehend, a literal higher plane of existence. Black Adam is still on the same level as us but with superpowers. He's just become a sociopath who detaches himself from the suffering of others as part of his "I'm above you all" attitude. It's not like he can't comprehend us. He chooses not to. That's why he's a villain

    • @MetalGaiden96
      @MetalGaiden96 8 років тому +5

      +The King of the Penguins Well in hindsight, he basically sees humans the same way he would see an insect. While he is indeed mortal, he is essentially a god compared to us. When we kill an insect, we feel no remorse or grief over it, because it's just that, and insect. That is how he sees mortals, should he kill one, he feels nothing over it because he believes himself to be, as he said, a higher form of life. But to be honest, he was never this evil in the comics under normal circumstances, his character is actually much deeper, more complex, and he's more so considered a anti-hero. Only time he ever really lost it and went god mode on everyone, was when Isis and Osiris was killed by the Four Horsemen. First he killed the Horsemen, the he took out his rage and grief on nearly the entire world.

    • @MetalGaiden96
      @MetalGaiden96 8 років тому +4

      Kon- El Yes he is. Why do you think Shazam refers to himself as "The World's Mightiest Mortal"? Just because they're empowered by the gods doesn't mean they aren't still mortal, even in their super forms.

    • @Biblig
      @Biblig 8 років тому +1

      +The King of the Penguins When black adam is in his empowered form he becomes far above mortals not just in the physical sense.I actually forgot the acroynm but he does achieve the wisdom of a God aswell.A knowledge most humans will never even come close to comprehending.

    • @Jaxymann
      @Jaxymann 6 років тому +3

      Nailed it. All too often in comic books supervillains have "holier than thou" attitudes and think they're on some higher levels of existence, but it doesn't work that way. Yes, humans don't grieve when an ant gets crushed, but that's because we can't communicate with it. Black Adam on the other hand is someone who we can reason with just like any other human. The only thing that makes us different from him is the literal balance of power, and power all too often corrupts villains into believing that they are Gods to rule us.

    Thinking about it, it would be those 5 but I think they could easily add in Green Arrow and have Martian Manhunter in the movie plot...then in JL 2 add Hawkman, Shazzam, Cyborg? which could later develop into a Teen Titan franchise? WB could do so much if they opened more studios like Marve/Disney do to make 2 Superhero movies a year. :)

    Its not an explicit weakness of Superman's, but it is a figurative weakness in that he has no special defense or immunity to magical powers like he does with natural/supernatural powers. Magic affects him objectively, as if he were a mortal human.

  • @HBHaga
    @HBHaga 11 років тому

    It's both. Right now DC holds the copyright for Billy Batson/Captain Marvel but Marvel Comcis owns the trademark for "Captain Marvel". So DC can't use the name Captain Marvel for advertising or promotional purposes and Marvel can't use Billy Batson/Captain Marvel, so they've had several of their own design over the years. This makes it awkward for DC so, with the recent reboot, they just went with Shazam.

    big words for a winking Cabbage. but yes that is the weakness to the perspective IF you allow that fact to come to pass. That's why Black Atom tries to eliminate Shazam before he can harness his true powers. so it still works as long as the lead is maintained.

      teddy black happens when white voice actor try to do ethnic voices. They make the accent more blatant while in real life the Egyptians you met either try to maskit, or have spoken English long enough for their accent to start fading.

    The name Captain Marvel dates way back to the old Fawcett Comics company where Billy, the Wizard Shazam, Black Adam and the extended Marvel Family came from. DC sued their pants off over similarities between Capt. Marvel and Superman, won and then let the property just sit for a while. During this time Marvel came up with the Kree Captain Mar-Vell, their own Captain Marvel, and trademarked the name.

  • @DragonSword35d

    Yeah, it's kind of a technical weakness. And then there are the psychologically self inflicted weaknesses like the need to breath in space. He only thinks he needs to, most of the time. Imposed on himself during his younger years in an attempt to be more human. Then there is the whole super reaction thing that only applies when he has his adrenaline going. Otherwise, he gets suckerpunched rather easily.

    It's a matter of perspective. He inherited his powers, like an heir does the family fortune but cannot earn one of his own. A karate master works for his skills, acquires discipline and self-control so that he can become even better with time.
    Is Adam powerful enough to claim he is a god? Certainly. Is he better than the average mortal? Nope. Just as a bomber pilot can raze a city but would never be able to fight a Karate master, Adam will never have the discipline to grow beyond his powers.

    Should be interesting to see on the screen if we get the Rock as Black Adam ever meeting up with Superman. Both the guy that plays Captain Marvel and Superman look like normal guys next to the Rock, if not small af. LOL First time a villain will be legit imposing and intimidating in a physical sense without having to be a CGI monster.
