    Always excited to see what you will come up with next! Just finished making some beckit hitch loops for my hammock yesterday. Thanks!👍🏼

    Looks awesome! Which thickness stretchy cord did you use for this?

    I like the extra knot in the shock cord. I use Linelock Hooks to tension the guy lines with shock cord loops at the tarp corners. Sometimes I'll flip it around too. Larks head the loop end on the knot of the shock cord and have the Linelock hook attach to the stake cord loop. In case I want the adjustment part near the stake.

    haha, i was just playing around with making myself some 2mm dyneena guy lines. one end - spliced loop, the other - inline spliced loop and button knot to grab the tarps tieout. And was stuck trying to figure out a clever way to adjust length. I resolved to some plastic hardware tensioners... but now, seeing this idea of yours. right here. mind blown ineed 👍😁
    And shock prussiks for continous ridgeline... and no hardware 🥰

    Thanks Jeff.

    Another great option .... I guess this has similar characteristics as Prusik .... being the diameter of the material used for (Bungi) loop needs to be equal to or less than the main line? (Maybe a little bit of forgiveness due to the compress ability of the elastic material?)

      you can use any similar size, for example a bigger shock will grip less overall in prusic mode , but have more grip when you flip the knot

    How quickly is the shock cord going to wear thru and break from the friction of sliding along the guyline?

    • @edwardbenton4428
      @edwardbenton4428 5 місяців тому +1

      Wouldn't the shock cord be expendable. A few extra shock cord things in one's spare parts bag wouldn't weigh much

    • @jeffmyers7062
      @jeffmyers7062  5 місяців тому +1

      @1:55 I squeeze the shock cord to reduce initial slip. So it will depend on that alot. And type of cord used. Time will tell.

    • @jeffmyers7062

      @@edwardbenton4428 that is the idea , and should it break you can likely tie a knot

    So you're flipping lark's heads to reef knots. Do you really intend to hold up your tarp with reef knots? Worse yet, reef knots half in stretchy shock cord for even more instability. Is there any reason to not just use prusik knots for actual stability? Wouldn't they work the same?
    The toggles are fine. I'm still not sure why you need shock cord when you could be doing the tension control with prusik loops.
    I'm guessing you don't need much strength since the shock cord isn't going to be as strong as the other cord. Increasing the diameter of the shock cord would make the reef knots even more unstable.

    • @jeffmyers7062
      @jeffmyers7062  5 місяців тому

      Actually the reef knot with one side of the cord being stretchy is super stable. The compressibility of the sock cord really lets the knot set up tight. And this is for a tarp tie out , in the case of say severe wind or a person trips on a line , the reef knot might fail before the the tarp is damaged. In any case the knot is very stable, especially for this applicaction.

      Also as I show @ 1:13 you can just back up the prusic with an easy slip knot. So if you don't trust the reef knot , you can do that. Easy Peasy

    Wast of time to fiddle with when setting up quickly. Just use a presick

      @jeffmyers7062  5 місяців тому

      Sorry but the prusic does not work on the shock cord. Only with similar cord to similar cord. Since shock cord is typically present on the tie out anyway , why not put it to use ?

    The app store description is riddled with grammatical errors, not only making it hard to read, but unprofessional. You might want to fix that.
