How to Stretch a Ring Using Rathburn Ring Stretcher Tutorial

To achieve the best performance out of your, ”Rathburn Ring Stretcher” we decided to make this video just for you.
Here I will demonstrate how to use a Rathburn Ring Stretcher you will need... any sort of Heavy Mallet, a Ring sizing Mandrel, and I’m going to use a Size 6 ring Band. The Smallest size ring you can use on a RathBurn stretcher is a size 6.
First, place your ring over the slotted mandrel then slide the mini narrow mandrel inside, then take the slotted mandrel on top of the Nylon die to help suppress the blow.
You can use a mallet or hammer, and now start pounding over the pin.
**Its important after every couple of hits to check your progress using your ring sizing mandrel so you don’t go over your desired size.
Note, avoid using soldered rings because if the ring was not soldered properly it could split in half, also, try avoiding jeweled rings, you don't want the diamonds or gems to pop-out.
A trick to remove the stick you can use your mandrel to poke the bottom like this. If that doesn’t work, you can also hit the bottom of the mandrel with your hammer.
You want to make sure to use soft metals such as silver, gold or copper, rather than a hard metal like titanium because titanium wont stretch.

The white die is used to suppress the blows. If you have a rubber bench block that does the trick as well :))

I have an old Air Force military ring that I haven't worn for over 30 years and it no longer fits any of my fingers. Can this tool stretch it so I can wear it again? It's pretty thick and I don't want to damage the ring, but I would like to start wearing it again.

Thanks for this video. Instructions did not come in the box I was sent, and the bezel was jammed inside the stretcher until I watched the video and figured out how to remove it. I then stretched several rings that had been a bit snug on my fingers. It works a trick!

Steel does stretch, but be careful not to stretch the ring to much!!!

@@dmhq-administration if the ring has any precious stones I would take it to a trusted jeweler, stretching a ring can loosen the prongs that hold the stone in place. But if you have experience half an inch isn’t to bad of a stretch
