I’ve seen people wrap a cheese cloth around it but the fact remains that roots can grow through concrete so in the end, nothing will really stop them from getting in there. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Adding air to the reservoir will cause your ph to fluctuate requiring constant monitoring and correcting, stirring the reservoir will keep the solution mixed you can also use a water pump on a timer to stir your reservoir, short burst a few times a day will do it, this way your reservoir won't heat up due to a pump running constantly. If you're going to aerate the reservoir then just do bubble buckets DWC, the bucket is the reservoir just monitor the ph to keep in correct range. Hope this helps.
Very cool system. I unfortunately made a mistake with my chemicals and blocked the entire system with sludge.... MY fault but I lost a crop, I sold my system to a friend who absolutely loves it! He brought a massive system for his greenhouse. He raves about his veges 👍
Almost everything stated here autopotamus does not do. Autopotamus uses straight coco and nothing else. Autopotamus turns his on four days after he transplants. Autopotamus never turns his lights off so his pump runs 24/7. Autopotamus sits his airdome in the bottom of his pot. So please tell us autopot why do you say I must mix 50% pumas, clay balls or perlite for success when your best ambassador doesn’t? Also why wait a couple weeks after transplanting when yet again your best ambassador autopotamus does not? Your best ambassador autopotamus follows none of your advice and yet he is the best grower the world knows in autopots so please tell us why you say one thing but the ambassadors of autopots do none of it? I am not being a smart ass but I would like to know why autopotamus has such great success not following any of your recommendations? Is it the fact that he sits his on the bottom of the pot and fills his pot with nothing but coco the reason his system doesn’t leak or have issues? I bet if he had a layer of pumas or perlite or clay balls in the bottom of his pots they would have your stated issues so is that why he has success? I hope you answer🙏
We suggest turning on the Air Pump two weeks after turning on your system. Ideally, you want your plant to acclimate to the bottom feeding environment that AutoPot creates before turning on your Air Pump / AirDomes.
Also, run them on your light timer so the Air Pump turns on when you lights are on, and turns off when your lights are off. You don't want to run the AirDomes 24/7, only when your lights are on.
@@autopotusabut you autopotamus run your air pump four days after you transplant. Also you run 100% coco and your airdome sits in bottom of the pot. Lastly your lights never turn off. Am I missing something here Autopotamus?
From my experience with living soil you must have it heavily aerated or it with be too absorbant. In turn takes away my living soil and turns to majority perlite or what ever you use to aerate it. The air dome is only 1LPM. Thays not enough air to dry the soil out enough.
I have run the air domes 24/7 even in the dark stage no issues also if you top feed once completely wetting your medium from top to bottom of your pot then you can start your auto pot system one day one with no issues the wicking process will start, keep an eye on your plant and reservoir you will see the res solution dropping down plant looks good all systems ago. you can always water or feed top down if necessary, but it won't be.
@@Huey-w7d if you see bubbles use a smaller air pump or dial back the air flow from the pump until there are no bubbles visible you only need1liter of air flow per minute, your air stone will also make a difference use one that gives you small fine bubbles not large ones. Hope this helps.
Love this , I’ll increase my mixture , was doing 70/30 mix with coco , but excited to try a 50/50
Very nice.. haven't tried the air domes but love all my pots.
Great info. Thank you.
great tips & thank you, I love my Autopots & the air domes certainly do increase yields ive found 😎
Do you recommend only using the pump while the lights are on? I heard this in a Highigan video but have never heard anything like that again.
Great video.
Any tips on keeping the Airdome from becoming totally blocked by roots?
Roots avoid copper.
I’ve seen people wrap a cheese cloth around it but the fact remains that roots can grow through concrete so in the end, nothing will really stop them from getting in there. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Yeppp, if you get thin copper and "wrap" it, roots will not grow further...
@@skankhunt420but together with nutrient solution the copper dissolves easy and is absorbed. Copper overdose is the result. Not good.
How would it look like in the 100% coco if the pump would provide 1L/min instead of 20L/min?
does a 70/30 mix work as well eg Pro mix cpx?
Why would you not aerate the water in the reservoir? Why do it on a per pot basis?
@@Saereya there are no roots in the reservoir

I have 100% coco and I’m using air base and air domes. Would I be able to use air dome or it will cause the floater to mess up? Like in the video
What if i got the big pump, can i still use the big pump with my 6x 35L flexipots ? I want to use it for the other 9 Plants later.

Soil/hydroton 50/50 mix good?
Yes that’s a great mix to use in the system

When in the grow cycle do you suggest turning the Airdomes on? Also, running them during lights off?
I do mine from day 1 once I turn on the system, remember to top feed for the 10 days after transplant 🤜🏻

So it doesnt work with living soil ?
It overwaters living soil.
@@Dankhighway- How does introduction of air to the root zone result in overwatering? And why with living soil in particular?

Autopots are technically a hydroponic grow. You can’t do living soil with this exact set up.
How often and for how long do you recommend running the air domes?
Turn them on two weeks after you turn on your system. Run them on your light timer so they turn on/off with the lights.
I have the air dome and air base and I used 100% coco could I use turn on the air dome or it will do what it did in the video

Pumice/Coco 50/50 good ?
Yes that will work to create a nice, light, airy mix

if u use airdomes and dont bubble the water in the tank, the ph will spike like crazy in the trays :S
