No hate to the Sombra but this gameplay proves they are wrong, people think just because "rank" resets they are all of a sudden going to be higher than they were all of a sudden... the player was a Silver player before the reset and they still are Silver I don't want to hate on the player but their Aim needs massive work, say what you want about console but having consistent aim is still a bare minimum for climbing. Compared to everyone else in the match I don't see this Sombra doing anything special to deserve to be higher than them, if anything the Sombra was the weakest link on their team.
that's exactly what I wanted to say, a player with 4 years of experience should not have such massive problem with aiming (I'm a console player myself) and it honestly looks like he picked up the controller a month or two ago
For plat-diamod players its even worse, I ended last season on GM5 and it deranked me to D1 on placements, and every lobby has been full of mostly players the same rank as me or higher but if you are truly a diamond/plat player, i cant imagine how it must feel to just be dependant on the MM to put more masters/gm on your team or the enemy
@neog_2979 I dont think they fully reset the hidden mmr, because just from watching streams and from you’re comment, gm players still play with gm players (mostly) and the same for other ranks. The rank reset also from what I know, only puts you down 1 rank from where you were. If you were masters, you’d be predicted somewhere in diamond, if you were plat, you’d be predicted somewhere in gold, etc.

Hack doesn't significantly increase damage, and it only silences enemies for less than a second, so it is only really good for when it interrupts an ability (like doom block, spinny spear, reflect, sigma eat, plus some ults and other abilities). The only damage increase is taking the virus impact from 10 to 20. The virus damage over time happens faster, but the effect ends quicker. So if you need to kill an enemy in 3 seconds or less, hacking can help, but if you are in a clean 1v1 where they can't get help, I find it is much better to land the virus first and then just shoot. The increased chance of hitting the virus and shooting before they have a chance to react is usually worth more than the 10 extra impact damage from having them hacked. Sometimes the short silence is enough to make the difference, especially in stall situations where a mei needs to ice block on point before 4 people explode them, buying the team close to a second of extra time is enough for focus fire to come in, but in a 1v1, it is near impossible to get the elim before their abilities come back and they use them to get you or save themselves. So in general, I find it is best to virus, then shoot, and only hack if I have a reason to, either focus fire coming in from the team or a specific ability or ult to cancel.
her hack is really good if u use it agaisnt the right person for ex u can kill every single stranded support and almost all dps. first use virus and shoot for like .4 seconds then IMMEDIATLEY translocate above there head and as u r coming down hack them, then they will be less than half hp and no abilities, its very hard to counter.
Honestly good tips. I never realized hacking first could be detrimental in 1v1s. Obviously when they'd notice me, I would stop attempting it but I figured if I could hack, they would move a little more predictably (turning around to look at you), take a bit more damage, and die more but I guess the surprise of coming out of nowhere and immediately hitting them with it is more value over all

When I hack, I usually hack successfully, but then the person knows, turns to face me, and moves out of my virus. I then start to panic, which throws my aim everywhere, and I translocate out. I think the rank reset was funny because I literally just ended up placing almost exactly where I used to be for all ranks (except tank I'm not doing tank placements until its less miserable)
From what I understand, it puts you a whole rank below where you were and forces you to climb back up. If you were masters, it puts you in diamond, plat in gold, etc. luckily, it increases your mmr by quite a bit in your placements and also in your games after placements so if you go 5-5 or less and end up in a lower rank than you wanted you can still climb back in relatively short time. I was diamond 3 last season on tank and I got placed diamond 4 after going 7-3, and the few games after I got to d2 because of the calibration multiplier (a win gives you like 25-35% and a loss takes away about the same).
@@LoepulI got placed into exactly the same rank tiers as last season across all roles, and even did placement matches with a few friends who were different ranks than me. it definitely felt like the placements were cosmetic
@@UncleJemima I mispoke in my comment, the predicted rank is a whole rank below, not what you end up with. but yeah, it doesn't feel like much of a reset
His movement is somewhat decent, the huge problem is the aim. You can’t just move around the map hacking people and leaving like a rabbit when you’re 1v1…Those are the sombra that ask to us Winston mains or ball mains to play coordinated with them most of the times, when I reality after we get into a fight they leave with translocators letting the tank 1v3😂
I played a ton of Sombra and I can tell this one doesn't deserve anything more than silver for sure. Like we don't need to talk Sombra starts, because he gets lost after his own movement. Aim even with the giant bullet hitboxes is terrible and I'm not sure if he landed one Virus...
Im a Silver 5 sombra on console and I think if they just used virus first they would get 100 times more value and also spectate less they tend to just watch there team a lot
His use of translocation to get on high ground and in off angles was really good. But he has really bad virus accuracy, which often leads him to fail to secure a kill.
My Sombra always do this: - try to hack and virus, but if hack always got cancel or cannot hack because the enemy isn't alone, just throw virus and farm ult xD - go at the back of the enemy and see what they have and their positioning, I always disturb the high ground people cause no high ground is allowed - emp always use for cancel ult, rushing in, just to cancel their mobility for a couple of seconds This is how I play it with Sombra, but everyone got their own way xD
As someone who’s been stuck in b5 for most of ow2 when i was a silver/ gold depending on my role in ow1 the rank changes def fixed things but matchmaking is iffy for me the entire first half of the season i went from placing in b3 to climbing to s5 and then randomly had a week n a half of matchmaking giving me a single teammate normally if I’m solo either tank or support or if I’m duoing with a support it’s tank or dps who is the reason we lost due to either them being bad or just outright throwing for whatever reason and literally the day before yesterday it went back to giving me competent people and i went from b3 back up to just hitting b1 again just now so the comp ranks is def fixed it’s just matchmaking that needs tweaking (in my opinion winners should rly be put with winners and losers with losers cause 1 bad person can just destroy your chances of winning)😊
I play roller on pc so I dont know anything about console but, does console have deadzone adjustment settings ? Seems like this player could benefit from some fine tuning on the settings.
This player needs their "I AM THE DANGER" moment. HAVE CONFIDENCE! Practice aim or talk in the mirror do what it takes to see yourself as a threat. Even with your skill level EXACTLY where it is now, you gave up several kills just by disengaging too soon. If you can change your mindset and you'll get more kills day 1. Also an exercise that helped me with my tracer aim was (in Quickplay) try only shooting only when it's going to be a hit. I know it sounds like a meme, but after losing several fights only shooting like ten shots, it forced me to slow down. I realized I had been panicking and mag dumping every engagement and sometimes I got lucky and got a kill. Having a little throttle control over my M1 actually helped me to take time with my aim. Hope that helps!
I was plat from 2016 until 2020. Once the pandemic happened I had some extra time to play and I ended up climbing out of plat all the way to masters and actually peaked GM in Season 8.
Meanwhile me, another sombra main, is stuck in bronze for about the same amount of time as this guy is in silver. So explain to me, how can my aim and game sense be better than the sombra in this video (no offense) *but im still a lower rank??* the ranked system really confuses me sometimes lmfao
@sunsun9998 pc now, was console a while back. Yes, I'm absolutely sure that I do not aim like a drunken fool and have more game sense then this snotbrained ape.

the entire community has improved over time. if someone stays in the same rank for a long period of time, it means that they're improving but not fast enough to climb. if they weren't improving at all, they would derank.
I think something weird happened with the rank reset tbh. I was gold 4 at the end of season 8 and I won my first placement match and it showed my predicted rank as silver 2 which made no sense if they put people closer to gold 3.
I found that your predicted rank goes up when you win but it doesn't go down when you lose. So basically the game was telling you "if you lose your next 9 games, you'll be silver 2"
The rank reset feels really weird to me, as well, though. I had been Bronze 4 on support (high silver dps, low silver tank) and for my first placement match my team won 3:0, we all played well, I even got POTG (not that it matters) and my projected rank was Bronze 5. I did end up in Bronze 1 now but it just feels so weird that I don't think I could have done much better in the measurable stats and it still starts me out the lowest possible? How is that moving people more towards gold (and I'm not saying I should be gold, I just don't get that series of events). Any words of wisdom welcome.
i'm new to overwatch (kinda) i only play heroes like soldier, ashe, reaper or bastion because i find them easy to use sombra seems advanced, I enjoy your vids tho emongg they are helpful
i'm a plat dps on pc and i'm not a great sombra but if i isolate a target and hit them with virus i will commit at least an entire clip from my gun to confirm the kill before i tp out unless someone suddenly peals for them (like a kiriko tp'ing in). i don't always get the kill but this is how you limit test your aim and steadily improve your ttk. the only time i hack then intsta tp out is if i realize i made a mistake with my positioning or if i think i can get someone to chase me and abandon a team fight to give my team a numbers advantage. if this sombra takes nothing else away from this vod review they should take more time in the practice range or deathmatch just to fine tune their controller sens so their crosshair isn't all over the place during fights. they may also need to re-tune their aim assist and learn more about how aim assist works so that they aren't flicking unnecessarily with their right stick once they have locked onto a target.
as a diamond sombra console main since 2018 this guy is lucky to be in silver and should very well be in bronze, hes probably in silver because of his teammates and needs a bunch of things to work on. Fundamentally and in regards to his atrocious aim as well as his lack of awareness in his ults so his teammates cant follow up on emp.
As someone who played console fps since the OG CoD 4 days i can see a glaring issue, they cant track the enemies, if they pbumped their sens up just a tiny bit you would see an improvement straight away, rest is just game sense
15:55 it's hard to believe when the team starts to whine ... I flank I die. I'm in a similar situation. playing since 2019 and still stuck on Gold/Plat, I used to care that I peaked low Diamond but not anymore, every season 5v5 has been a disaster.
It's almost always better to lead with virus. The enemy isn't expecting anyone to be there so it's way easier to hit when you lead with it. Hack should really only be used to disable important Tank/Support abilities/ultimates. Leading with hack on someone is almost always a waste of time
TO THE SOMBRA PLAYER PLEASE: you are too anxious, you’re not focused. You’re clearly good enough, you need to relax. You’ve been there for 4 years. You’re BETTER THAN these fools. Like emongg says, be patient with the aim. Let them walk into your shots Think: ‘I just need to legitimately land like 11 shots from this smg and melee this zen and we win’
i did my placements on saudi arabia servers. first 5 games were ALL BOTS on my team. it was shocking because that was my first experience ever with bots in this game, so i decided to get a vpn and switch to amsterdam and the next 5 games were close fights bar a few really bad tanks. I won 2 out of those last 5 and I still got placed higher than this guy xD the mmr reset definitely did work, man probably lost all his placements just like me. I would imagine that if I won i would have been placed plat 2 or something. I was previously gold 4 and this season i placed gold 2. I had a game where I did 20k dmg on tracer for the first time ever and another with 15k on widow. the match quality felt much better.
It seems like their scared to use their gun for damage, most of the time they just try hitting a virus then run away then also theyre obsessed with hack for some reason 😂
For all of those complaining that they are stuck in a certain rank they always can change their "shell", meaning a Smurf account, and another and another till they reach the top 500. Never give up!
I'm new to the game but if this is the gameplay of people who constantly complain they're stuck on certain rank then idk why I'm so worried about learning so much on quickplay 😅
The ADD is real. Hitting buttons just because an ability is on cooldown without a second thought as to what it is they actually want to accomplish. At first, I thought his team really wasn't helping because every now and then he did get a good pick. But like emongg said, they would then teleport out for no reason rather than following up on getting another pick so the fight could snowball. I don't think this person is bronze. But not yet good enough to be gold.
As a new to the game since July and new sombra main since the rework I don't know what I just witnessed lol hack tanks if able out of position players that can easily be taken down with a hack virus (widow zen ash hanzo) ect and be a freaking mosquito in the team fight around the team fight but rarely in the team fight but that's just .e
I feel like all his problems would be solved if he just relaxed on the comp play and went into the custom games to find the aim game and turn that hoe up till he can hit everyone consistently without missing….it helped sm in higher ranks against mercy’s and kirikos.
Aiming for the head would probably instantly shoot this persons effectiveness up tbh. I get not having great aim vs moving targets it happens but you should probably be hitting nearly all headshots vs an ulting junkrat

@@Loepul and we were so hydrated 😔
His movement is somewhat decent, the huge problem is the aim. You can’t just move around the map hacking people and leaving like a rabbit when you’re 1v1…Those are the sombra that ask to us Winston mains or ball mains to play coordinated with them most of the times, when I reality after we get into a fight they leave with translocators letting the tank 1v3😂
Yo they’re missing every virus😂😂😂😂
They need to hack less. It doesn't increase damage. It should be more used to lock out abilities to help secure kills.
So from what I understood from watching for a lil while, the song is played when cart could of been touched right?
Yes
That Orisa was having the worst day of their life for a lot of this...RIP! XD
I’m a silver tank right now and it feels like I’m fighting plat players. I wish I got games with enemies like these.
Look back on your gameplay and watch the enemy, you probably do get games with enemies like this
I was getting alot of silver and low gold matches for some reason after the reset (im plat 1 tank)
what do you mean 2020 was 4 years ago?!!
ikr 🥲
Patience needs patience 😅
His use of translocation to get on high ground and in off angles was really good. But he has really bad virus accuracy, which often leads him to fail to secure a kill.
This sombra main is not representative of the rest of us. I Stan sombra for life
im not a sombra main
The reset was definitely real bc I was a gold-plat player and now I’m back into plat
My Sombra always do this:
- try to hack and virus, but if hack always got cancel or cannot hack because the enemy isn't alone, just throw virus and farm ult xD
- go at the back of the enemy and see what they have and their positioning, I always disturb the high ground people cause no high ground is allowed
- emp always use for cancel ult, rushing in, just to cancel their mobility for a couple of seconds
This is how I play it with Sombra, but everyone got their own way xD
Ahhh so, after rank reset, some rank lower...some rank higher and some rank the same........would NEVER of guessed that.
Think about it this way: What's easier to do for the enemy you're engaging?
-Jumping in a direction, or shooting a target they can't see yet?
eyo thats me
This player needs their "I AM THE DANGER" moment.
Hope that helps!
hey, i get those moments but only when im on tank lmfao
I was plat from 2016 until 2020. Once the pandemic happened I had some extra time to play and I ended up climbing out of plat all the way to masters and actually peaked GM in Season 8.
Meanwhile me, another sombra main, is stuck in bronze for about the same amount of time as this guy is in silver. So explain to me, how can my aim and game sense be better than the sombra in this video (no offense) *but im still a lower rank??* the ranked system really confuses me sometimes lmfao
Are u console or pc? Are you SURE ur aim and game sense is better? Or is hindsight/spectating 20/20.
@sunsun9998 pc now, was console a while back. Yes, I'm absolutely sure that I do not aim like a drunken fool and have more game sense then this snotbrained ape.
This is why aim does matter, no matter what all the big streamers will tell you. Good aim makes u more confident to flank and off angle.
7:22 he could've went right up in his face and peppered him yet he chose to sprinkle him with shots
Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the alright so one!
the play seems to be shoot virus hack or shoot hack virus. I've fallen as Mercy to either of the variants after being snuck up on
4:47 to 5:04 I'm sorry, what?! 🤣
i searched up silver sombra gameplay to see if my gameplay is truly silver, i must be top 500 after watching this
Another one blames the rank system, was waiting for this lol
I def blame the rank system. I went 9-1 in placements and then won like 10 more games after and got put in silver 5
@@bubbleis thats because it kept your MMR from the last season and removed your ranked value until placements. it allows for easier climbing but you are still going to start roughly from where you were
This^ climbing has definitely been easier this season then last
@@bubbleis .. well that's because you're right where you should be. you're not magically gonna be better lmfao. easier to climb if you're good but bad players are really suffering this patch (:
@@bunnyg4464 I play on my alt specifically bc that in comp bc I'm in diamond and play fine. And it's not like it's bc I don't play on my alt that's my main comp acc
Im a sombra main and can confirm there are lots of ways to play sombra. I usually like to go for back row but I've seen lots of sombras play differently. Also I usually start off with hack, virus, then start shooting. I sometimes do lead off with virus. Should I change this?
When you hack throw virus to the right of the enemy. They almost always react the same way to a hack
If you do something for 4 years and you don't improve you need to seriously re-evaluate how you approach the world
the entire community has improved over time. if someone stays in the same rank for a long period of time, it means that they're improving but not fast enough to climb. if they weren't improving at all, they would derank.
As a Sombra main, watching this gameplay actually hurt me
I think something weird happened with the rank reset tbh. I was gold 4 at the end of season 8 and I won my first placement match and it showed my predicted rank as silver 2 which made no sense if they put people closer to gold 3.
They put people lower than their previous rank.
I found that your predicted rank goes up when you win but it doesn't go down when you lose. So basically the game was telling you "if you lose your next 9 games, you'll be silver 2"
in fairness to them it wasn't a reset by any standards of what people were expecting how ever they defiantly belong in that rank
That Sombra had the worst aim
The rank reset feels really weird to me, as well, though. I had been Bronze 4 on support (high silver dps, low silver tank) and for my first placement match my team won 3:0, we all played well, I even got POTG (not that it matters) and my projected rank was Bronze 5. I did end up in Bronze 1 now but it just feels so weird that I don't think I could have done much better in the measurable stats and it still starts me out the lowest possible? How is that moving people more towards gold (and I'm not saying I should be gold, I just don't get that series of events).
Any words of wisdom welcome.
I do shots virus shots bc like mercy onece you let go of one button it automatically goes back to the other
i'm new to overwatch (kinda) i only play heroes like soldier, ashe, reaper or bastion because i find them easy to use sombra seems advanced, I enjoy your vids tho emongg they are helpful
He's playing overwatch 1 Sombra and never adapted to the virus shot its old school hack -damage -translocate
i'm a plat dps on pc and i'm not a great sombra but if i isolate a target and hit them with virus i will commit at least an entire clip from my gun to confirm the kill before i tp out unless someone suddenly peals for them (like a kiriko tp'ing in). i don't always get the kill but this is how you limit test your aim and steadily improve your ttk. the only time i hack then intsta tp out is if i realize i made a mistake with my positioning or if i think i can get someone to chase me and abandon a team fight to give my team a numbers advantage. if this sombra takes nothing else away from this vod review they should take more time in the practice range or deathmatch just to fine tune their controller sens so their crosshair isn't all over the place during fights. they may also need to re-tune their aim assist and learn more about how aim assist works so that they aren't flicking unnecessarily with their right stick once they have locked onto a target.
as a diamond sombra console main since 2018 this guy is lucky to be in silver and should very well be in bronze, hes probably in silver because of his teammates and needs a bunch of things to work on.
The fact me and this guy are the same rank and he’s saying he should be higher 😂
Yall gotta remember, that Sombra is a flank hero, to distract a tank or kill squishies, is ur objective
Can’t even imagine their gameplay off sombra
to be fair the rank reset wasn't really real you're still matched with like ranks
You didnt do the touch the point song when Sig C9'd
15:55 it's hard to believe when the team starts to whine ... I flank I die. I'm in a similar situation. playing since 2019 and still stuck on Gold/Plat, I used to care that I peaked low Diamond but not anymore, every season 5v5 has been a disaster.
ALRIGHT SO :)
It's almost always better to lead with virus. The enemy isn't expecting anyone to be there so it's way easier to hit when you lead with it. Hack should really only be used to disable important Tank/Support abilities/ultimates. Leading with hack on someone is almost always a waste of time
Bro I get the worst teams in rank, I’m talking teammates that give up as soon as they start doing bad
emongg u should add a rank and what they are playing on in the corner of the screen some where i think it would be nice :))
Emongg you're getting funnier lol
I was stuck in bronze until season 9, I’m now plat 3 and plat 1 on dps and support :3
Dang congrats, how tho?
@@Princ3ssCai got some friends to coach me on specific things and used comms more often
I was in plat 4 years ago and now I'm champ
TO THE SOMBRA PLAYER PLEASE: you are too anxious, you’re not focused. You’re clearly good enough, you need to relax. You’ve been there for 4 years. You’re BETTER THAN these fools. Like emongg says, be patient with the aim. Let them walk into your shots
Think: ‘I just need to legitimately land like 11 shots from this smg and melee this zen and we win’
i did my placements on saudi arabia servers. first 5 games were ALL BOTS on my team. it was shocking because that was my first experience ever with bots in this game, so i decided to get a vpn and switch to amsterdam and the next 5 games were close fights bar a few really bad tanks.
It seems like their scared to use their gun for damage, most of the time they just try hitting a virus then run away then also theyre obsessed with hack for some reason 😂
as a high silver low gold player what the fuck no way im THIS BAD
I’ve had ow since it came out and I haven’t got out of sil-plat
As someone who's been stuck in silver/gold since 2016 I feel the pain. Recently I've been plat tho 🙏🙏
For all of those complaining that they are stuck in a certain rank they always can change their "shell", meaning a Smurf account, and another and another till they reach the top 500. Never give up!
Me who has been in silver since 2016 o7
I'm new to the game but if this is the gameplay of people who constantly complain they're stuck on certain rank then idk why I'm so worried about learning so much on quickplay 😅
The ADD is real. Hitting buttons just because an ability is on cooldown without a second thought as to what it is they actually want to accomplish. At first, I thought his team really wasn't helping because every now and then he did get a good pick. But like emongg said, they would then teleport out for no reason rather than following up on getting another pick so the fight could snowball. I don't think this person is bronze. But not yet good enough to be gold.
Stopped playing after the reset cause im afraid to finally be in bronze
How do you submit that genuinely seeking advice
As a new to the game since July and new sombra main since the rework I don't know what I just witnessed lol hack tanks if able out of position players that can easily be taken down with a hack virus (widow zen ash hanzo) ect and be a freaking mosquito in the team fight around the team fight but rarely in the team fight but that's just .e
Aim is holding them back HARD
I feel like all his problems would be solved if he just relaxed on the comp play and went into the custom games to find the aim game and turn that hoe up till he can hit everyone consistently without missing….it helped sm in higher ranks against mercy’s and kirikos.
I finished Plat 4 last season on sup and I went 8-2 this season for placements 4 wins then 2 losses then 4 wins. I got gold 2..
ALRIGHT SO!
Aiming for the head would probably instantly shoot this persons effectiveness up tbh. I get not having great aim vs moving targets it happens but you should probably be hitting nearly all headshots vs an ulting junkrat
is he playing on a controller ?
I would definitely not lead with a hack. There is just way to much for the opponent to turn around punish you
