It was a labor government who stripped the Brisbane valley railway . In a typical labor act of Stupidity under the forgotten Wayne Goss with the assistance of labor MP David Hamill . Look at Wales, lots of little railways which exist for one reason,Tourists .Japan even has little railways on a big net work which are used by local residents and the occasional tourist. labor was too stupid to understand that the BVR went through some of the prettiest country in Queensland . There is even a fleet of steam engines sitting idle at Ipswich which could have been put to work pulling tourists around the track circuit ,plus bringing income to places like Lowood.

With all do respect, the line was too long and would have required a trip to Yarraman, stay there overnight and then comeback the next day.

When I worked at Toogoolawah National Bank during 1965, trains were still running.

Magnificent story. Looking forward to trying it out. Such a hard thing to get up and going in this day and age. Well done to all involved. While running trains are preferable over these corridors, recreational trails are the next best thing.

Nearly all of Queensland's branch lines are now defunct . very sad. I would like to know if all the station's had station master's and porter's and what time's were they on duty in the course of the day . And where were the signal cabins located ? cheers

In true Australian fashion it was closed ripped up and forgotten by QR and turned into a scungy footpath.

well they are letting the carriages rot away at Linville. Filthy inside , someone could be doing something .
