I've had so much difficulty developing a fertilizer schedule for my roses that are in 15 gallon pots. I purchased some slow release from David Austin but am not sure what would be the best combination to use. I am a retired nurseryman who grew 15,000 poinsettias every year and had a liquid feed program that I could use. Why is it so difficult to get some straight answers. I live in northern California near San Francisco and some of my roses are already setting buds.Hardly got below 30 degrees at night. Also had a problem with mice, rats or something else eating the new shoots of my roses. Not a deer problem and even built a chicken wire enclosure around them. Didn't help. 15 of my roses got attacked in one night but have used slugout plus, spinosad, and rat bait. Seems to have worked.
