I’m glad you qualified that as of all the roses shown Mme Isaac Pereire was one of the few I actually knew and I was sure the one shown wasn’t one. We all make mistakes 😊 Lovely video. This guy sure is a rose nerd! 🌹 I love the idea of Rose rustling btw! I could really get into that
*This man should be classified as a national treasure.* What a noble and beautiful mission of rose passion. THANK YOU for this treat. One of these days I will make the drive to Ithaca and treat myself to some of his cold-hardy, disease-resistant varieties!
I kind of felt sad watching this. I had a friend that died almost twenty years ago. He gave me a very small deciduous magnolia. And every year when it’s in flower, I remember. That’s the thing with plants, they are living memories, and as you take care of them, those that left continue to live through them. Thank you for sharing.
Magnolias can grow everywhere,as bushes or trees, because they actually have no typical flowers, only leaves with scent. So much so Chrisantems,Pelargonies and some others/?\\?/
A coworker and I were both garden crazy and we'd share seeds and plants back and forth. She gave me a ton of lilies when she decided to put in a garage. She passed away a couple years ago and I just love seeing those lilies and thinking of her.
i started planting roses because when my mom passed away she left a few rose plants. i wanted to preserved them and brought cuttings to my own house. i want the plants to keep on living as a memory to her. nowadays i keep planting and give them away to friends so as to keep the memory alive...
Watching this man show you his beautiful garden, knowing all the names and sharing all the history, made me feel emotional. His enthusiasm and love for each and every flower and tree made was just amazing! Thank you for this. He is a treasure.
I cannot begin to describe how very much I enjoyed this garden walk & talking tour. Just yesterday my first ordered roses arrived and this video was simply inspiring!
This guy is whimsical AF 😆 Speaking of roses & old ladies, we actually sprinkled my husband’s grandmother’s ashes on her roses in the backyard. Also, leave it to Summer to catcall a rose bush 😝🤣
Thank you for the tour, Flock team ! This was one of my favorite videos. This man has such a passion for roses and history, and seems so respectful and genuinely interested in people, judging by the way he speaks about the other gardeners before him. Truly inspirational.
@Sofia Salemi Your comment was perfect! This gentleman has a calling! Even though Ged isn’t originally know that’s what it would’ve one! What a wonderful story & how lucky are all the visitors who get to visit & all the listeners who get to attend his presentations!!
@Sofia Salemi Sorry, that my 1st post had weird grammar. My phone changed it bc of its spell/grammar check feature😬👎🏼. I meant to say: Even though he didn’t originally know that would be his calling.
ohhhhhhh my lawd!! Finally!! The most wonderful garden tour I have ever seen. I have searched and searched for a decent garden tour and could not find one that would fulfill my soul! Leon's stories and his enthusiasm was contagious. I could hear him speak for hours. So many interesting stories. I looked at every corner, every detail and I knew there was a story behind each one. I even noticed the pigeon on the fence and wondered what that was about. Only to find out through his website he raises pigeons! His smile just warms the heart. The roses and their stories were just so interesting. I'll have to watch this over and over again. What an honor to have watched this video!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!! One day I would love to visit Leon and his poetic garden!! One day.
What an incredible man, with an Incredible garden. Isn't that the magic of gardens.... how they hide the magic, brilliance and life of the gardener. How they bloom and grow from a person's soul.
If you love gardens, the garden in Zweibrücken, Germany is absolutely beautiful. I spent a summer there with my extended family. I was able to walk several times through this amazing garden. It is one of my favorite memories.
I'm pretty sure this man is my Obi Wan Kenobi of roses. I'm gonna make a plan to drive up to New York to visit him because his love for roses is just absolutely heartwarming
You feature the most beautiful properties. NY state is so gorgeous. The seating area shown at the end, with the panoramic views...all season beauty...I can imagine how gorgeous in autumn with the foliage colors. His collection of roses, and the way he features them..so whimsical and breathtaking. Lee is such a wealth of information. His passion and knowledge of roses...the twinkle in his eye when he speaks about them. Great tour! Thank you, Summer and Lee Ginenthal, for sharing these great gardens and property.
This is one of my favourite episodes yet! I must admit that I got into plants also through roses, and even though I am very into orchids and aroids now, roses will always have a special place. That place is heavenly, would love to paint there, and I just want to dig my nose inside every single rose to smell all those aromas. Hugs from Colombia
That goes to show that what makes a man/woman happy is he/she who follows the soul they own. A beautiful man! A beautiful story. Thank you for sharing. 🌹🌹🌹
Summer and Sander thank you so much for taking us along! Thank You Lee for hosting us all ! Everybody has there interests of what they individually enjoy. I adore roses, but particularly the micro-miniature roses for I am an apartment dweller. Westerland and Bayse Purple such beautiful colors. 💖
Another amazing tour. I was all eyes and ears looking into the screen seeing and listening to the stories. Roses are so special and bring such color and scents. I enjoyed this so much. Thank you Summer and Mr Leon for letting us into your special Fibonacci space.
I thought I found paradise on earth when you featured The Sphere, but, nope, this place is The Paradise. Must smell amazing there! Roses, roses, roses. It is the one thing I love so much that I totally gave up on. So many heartbreaks finding them withered and beyond my capacity to save.
What a wonderful journey he has been made with roses! I am just too touched with his passion for roses. I am also a rosé enthusiast and I can really understand the amount of hard work and dedication it took to make it happen. Kudos to this gentleman! Long live! Thanks for making such an episode!
Hey I grew up in an apartment in The Bronx and am also a retired teacher. I spent lots of time running around in NYBG and learned veg gardening in their Gardencraft program and decided while in the Rock Garden when I grew up I must own a house with a yard to garden in.
Fabulous! This is my all-time favourite video. Thank you so much for producing this wonderful content on roses. My relationship with roses started in the 60's as a child when we lived in Surrey England for a while. We were having a school parade (I think it was May Day) and we went door to door asking for rose petals which were then strewed on the path at the school. Nothing beats the smell and beauty of roses grown in England. Recently I was in Melbourne Australia and helped my brother and his wife prune their 100+ roses on a farm property they bought recently. One big reason for buying the property was the extensive and expensive gardens that were already in place. When I got home I started buying roses which were the only perennial in my no-grass front and back gardens that I didn't have (shame on me). I lost most of them after the first winter which was really sad. The second-year I took these insulated black plastic wraps that are used around beehives and I circled them around my roses and filled the center with leaves. All my roses lived!! but my snoopy neighbour looked over my 7' fence and called the city to complain I had "garbage bags" all over my back yard. LOL, The insulated wraps are deliberately made with black plastic so they'll absorb heat from the sun. I just love hearing stories about each rose or plant and the plants I love the most in my garden are the ones that were gifted to me by friends.
Love this very informative video about climbing roses. His knowledge of old, rambling and climbing roses is amazing. Loved watching something other than aroids.
I love these Garden Tour/Plant Collection videos!!! They showcase plant lovers, their collection and talent. Each one has their own stories and way of gardening.
I lost this video and forgot the name of Leon and couldn’t recollect. Finally found it again. I love watching Leon speak. One day I hope to meet him in person.
Enjoyed this video a lot! What an amazing man! He is a passionate gardener who knows his plants not just by their name but also by their history. You know how good a video is by the inspiration you get out of it and it just inspired me to retire someday doing the same thing. Right now I have a mini garden with mostly aroids and aglaos, but I'll definitely add more roses, it is like paying tribute to my mom and mother in law who love them so much ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been considering asking for a cutting from a rose bush from my childhood home. I loved those roses, and cared for the plant for over 20 years. I don’t know who the new owners are, but this video has given me the courage to ask. Thank you. 🌹
I would have been in heaven there for my love of flowers. I'd like to thank the camera man for always giving us the best shots to view everything as though we are there. I love this man's land
I'm from a tropical country and we have roses that bloom all year round. They never stopped producing flowers. They would take a rest for maybe around two weeks then you'll see them flowering again. I don't know what variety they are but the flowers only last around two days then they wilt. This video is really inspiring. It makes you want to get a shovel and start planting.
I love this guy's enthusiasm. I worked in a rose garden in my early 20s and I learned so much and can completely appreciate this... before working there I could have cared less about roses, but once I saw the number of varieties and smells and history, I was smitten! Thank you for sharing!
I’m in Texas. Rosette Disease wiped out my 100+ rose bushes within couple of years. They were so beautiful in the summer. Now, it is really hard to turn away when I see them at nursery.
This man is so cool really pays attention to detail! I loved this video, quite interesting how many virieties of roses exist and how far back they go. This also made me remember about the rose bush (red flower i think) that has been growing for generations in my grandparents' grandparents resting place at the cemetery in my hometown in Andalucía. I wrote my dad to ask him about it and tell him we need to take a cut. Thank u guys :)
As a gardener and follower of many garden-related channels - UA-cam just served this video up for me. I am so grateful I pressed play - what a lovely interview/tour/educational experience! I could go on and on with details of appreciation- but I’ll just say Thank you!
I started a rose garden when I retired in 1998! Of course, it is not anywhere near the size of yours. I am also from NY, and live in NJ now. I am so inspired by you, and thank you for sharing. I will be back...
I was enchanted, captivated and must get busy creating a miniature rose garden in love with the German roses and the plethora of ramblers, but to think that aan created all of this based on his grandmother is pire love
Lovely. Inspiring. So good to see a person creating lovely healthy situations in the world. And boy the man power, $$$ that must have taken and the water. But it’s a good purpose for all of that. A beautiful creation and he loves to share it.
Beautiful! Thanks Flock and Leon for sharing. Cant wait to go there as I’m just getting into roses, I have been wanting a yellow rose to honor my Mother but this makes me want them all!
This is was an amazing video and the gentleman’s property is one in a billion . Beautiful garden . Well produced and presented . Best episode .Thank you for uploading .
A passion like no other..amazing sleuthing finding rare roses hidden in cemetaries that have been protected for the longest time...beautiful rose garden made with love..thankyou for sharing.
I keep coming back to this video end rewatching it, taking notes, learning a lot still, and just gives me such a healing energy to listen to guys speaking about roses, about gardening so passionately! THANKS a lot! 🙏🤩
Hope you enjoy this thorough tour. Lee mentioned that there is one misidentification. The Mme. Isaac Perreire is actually an Antique 89. :)
I could really get into that
@@lizzafrizz "Rustlers" are thieves. Horse Rustlers stole other people's horses. Why would you want to do that? You will be caught and punished.
Flock , Can i have Lee, website to follow cos to learn more how to plant the rose 🌹
*This man should be classified as a national treasure.* What a noble and beautiful mission of rose passion. THANK YOU for this treat. One of these days I will make the drive to Ithaca and treat myself to some of his cold-hardy, disease-resistant varieties!

I always stop to smell the magnolias
Always worth it
Delectable.
A coworker and I were both garden crazy and we'd share seeds and plants back and forth. She gave me a ton of lilies when she decided to put in a garage. She passed away a couple years ago and I just love seeing those lilies and thinking of her.
I hope you enjoy feeling the thorns and remember that they were nicely planted under bed room windows to keep daughters safer.
That brought a tear to my eye😢
What a great video, If I won the lottery I would invent the Rose museum to honor allthe history and Leon's knowledge forever.
i started planting roses because when my mom passed away she left a few rose plants. i wanted to preserved them and brought cuttings to my own house. i want the plants to keep on living as a memory to her. nowadays i keep planting and give them away to friends so as to keep the memory alive...
Awww, what a sweet man. I love when people are happy and have so much passion!
Same
Watching this man show you his beautiful garden, knowing all the names and sharing all the history, made me feel emotional. His enthusiasm and love for each and every flower and tree made was just amazing! Thank you for this. He is a treasure.
I cannot begin to describe how very much I enjoyed this garden walk & talking tour. Just yesterday my first ordered roses arrived and this video was simply inspiring!
The mention of his dad and building the bridge tore me up😭 can’t stop crying.
I just love when gardeners know the history of their plants or just have a story about a plant related to themselves, it's so refreshing.
This guy is whimsical AF 😆 Speaking of roses & old ladies, we actually sprinkled my husband’s grandmother’s ashes on her roses in the backyard. Also, leave it to Summer to catcall a rose bush 😝🤣
This guy is brilliant! And I truly admire his Rose's and gardens 😍😍😍😍😍
I love this man because Roses are my flower!
The smell of roses reminds me of my parents .Mum always picks hers in memory of my Dad.
Thank you for the tour, Flock team ! This was one of my favorite videos. This man has such a passion for roses and history, and seems so respectful and genuinely interested in people, judging by the way he speaks about the other gardeners before him. Truly inspirational.

Wow 😍
A garden doesn't feel complete without roses.

Being on a steep slope really makes this garden special.
Another amazing tour. I was all eyes and ears looking into the screen seeing and listening to the stories. Roses are so special and bring such color and scents. I enjoyed this so much. Thank you Summer and Mr Leon for letting us into your special Fibonacci space.
So many ppl hate the multiflora Japanese rose (invasive) but I love it💐
I found myself smiling through the whole tour - so many great stories - I'm inspired to plant a rose bush!
I thought I found paradise on earth when you featured The Sphere, but, nope, this place is The Paradise. Must smell amazing there!

Upstate NY has the best properties! Things seem to grow so well there. Here in the south our gardens fry!
