This trick worked and I am so happy that I have a new filter on my frig. I bought 2 filters from a water filter company that was a genuine GE part. In our conversations back and forth with this company, they said that their filters do not have the chip. I called GE and asked them if all GE XWFE filters have the chip. They stated that if you bought the filter from someone other the GE then it may not have the chip in it. They said if you want to make sure you have the chip then you should buy it from GE. Thank you so much for providing this trick.
We are very glad it worked out for you. On our fridge. The status light still comes on when we use the water but that doesn’t bother us because now we get the filter so much cheaper and it works just as well. 👍
Nicely done. Thanks. Your GE side-by-side fridge has another cosmetic problem common to all the GE S-by-S fridges. The right door gradually moves down and out of alignment with the left door. Annoying. But you can adjust the door hinge located at the bottom right corner of the door. You'll need a 7/16" open end wrench and a tube of Loctite Threadlocker. Lay some old newspaper beneath your work area so you don't drip Loctitie on the floor. Put a tiny bit of Loctite on the end of a toothpick and apply it to the threads of the adjustment bolt right along its upper visible edge. Screw to bolt down a little to get the Loctite into the hinge bracket threads. Then turn the bolt the other way to raise the door until it is even with the left door. Now the doors will look right, and with the Loctite that bolt should not rotate easily keeping that right door in position.
So great! With a hairdryer, it took me just 3 minutes to get the label off. I hate it when companies do things that they pretend is for the consumer's benefit that is actually solely for their benefit!
We just bought a new GE side by side, I wanted to get a generic replacement filter, only to find it wouldn't work. I found your video, and took the factory GE filter off, and removed the label with a hair dryer like you demonstrated. I stuck the label on the fridge like you instructed, reinstalled the filter it came with and it works fine. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. Now I have to figure out how to get it to work without buying GE butter, and milk, lol ( joke)
Thank you so much!!! I agree with everything you said. Tired of being fleeced from my hard earned money by hard hearted money grabbing companies. I do want the company to make a fair profit, I want your employees to make a FAIR wage with great benefits but do not want the product to be shoddy and/or have to buy specific expensive filters to fleece us more.
I agree. Seems like a lot of these companies are starting to do it. We just had the same issue with a new printer at our office. You can only use the brand name ink cartridge and not the generic because of the chip in it. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!
Just tried this on my GE Frig. and it works great. I just peeled and cut the chip reader portion so I didn't have the entire label slapped on the back ( WORKS ). GE wants 50$ plus for one filter and I got a three pack from Wal-mart for $57.00 total shipped to me. Thanks so much for this hack.
I used a Glacier Fresh GF-XWF from Amazon (3 for $28.89). Didn't need to do anything with label (chip). Just installed new GF filter, everything worked.
This was extremely helpful. Thank you. At first bought another brand name waterfilter for my GE refrigerator and I got Err message on my refrigerator. Then i realized I might need to buy the GE brand. I was not happy about the cost. I bought the GE filter and I got the same Err message and no water flowing! I then called GE support and even though the filter is genuine XWFE GE filter, they said I need to buy it through them and not a 3rd party such as Lowes. After watching your video, I realized the Genuine GE filter I bought is probably defective because of a bad chip! I will be returning it. However, I took label off my old GE filter and tried it with one of non brand name filters I bought. Your trick worked! However, my filter in my refrigerator is on top ceiling which makes it harder to attach the old lable on the chip reader. I had to wrap the old lable around my new non brand name filter in order to install it. Also, the chip on the old lable wraps almost all the way around label! The filter status light won't reset on refrigerator which I'm ok with but the water dispenser is working with a new less expensive filter!!
We are very glad that worked for you. Yes the status light will not reset. Anytime you go to use the water that red lights want to come on and says it needs to be replaced. You’ll just need to make a reminder for yourself to know when to replace it. That’s the only downside to that part but we are very happy that it worked for you because buying the ones from Amazon or wherever definitely are a lot cheaper than buying the GE brand.
Thanks very much. The generic replacement filter I purchased was not working. Once I removed the sensor from the old GE filter, the new filter worked like a charm when installed with the sensor. Great solution. Very pragmatic approach to workaround Jack Donaghy like trickery ....
Great information. My new GE refrigerator arrives today and I'm already researching this replacement XWFE filter problem. Even though your information is very helpful I think I'll use the by pass plug from GE and install an external line filter behind the refrigerator. Amazon sells 5 year filters for around $30.
Thank you for making videos to help the little guy. Big companies are always trying to take the little we have.😊 keep doing what you are doing. This really helped me today.
Thanks! I tried the procedure you demonstrated and it worked, the only thing I noted is that the filter status indicates 0 % on the display. But the water and the ice have filtered water. I got new filters for $3.65 each versus $43.67 (The discounted cost of the GE XWFE filters from GE Appliances).
Thank you very much for watching. Yes the one downside is the filter status will always show that it needs to be changed. What we have done is just put a date on the filter because they say about every six months and especially as cheap as these are, you can do them a little sooner if you wanted to and just replace them then that way you know you’re definitely replacing them on time. Other than that you’re gonna be saving a lot of money obviously until you get a new fridge and they try to do something different to us. Have a great day.
Glad you made video on this. Had same problem with new filters. Pulled label off original put it in place, All works perfect never wood have realized such a thing. THANKS
I used a heat gun on the label and removed it carefully and placed it over the plastic reader spot, however after I installed a generic filter all I got was ERR, a friend of mine who is inquisitive looked at the rfid tag and noticed there was a paper looking flap that was not folded back over the bottom of it, he installed the label on the new generic filter and it worked fine. I think the flap is there to block a certain part of the rfid chip.
Thank you SO much for this video! I did this and it worked for me! I thought maybe it didn't because of the Filter Status still being red, however, I saw the comment that this would be the case. The light being red does not bother me at all! I just wrote the date on the filter and know in 6 months to replace i! No problem and with being able to buy the Amazon filters so cheap who cares about that little red light! God bless you for posting this video and too bad GE did this to their consumers.
Great video, Tell them how is is. These companies are so greedy. If they are going to force you to buy their filter, then make the stupid thing reasonable priced, otherwise do like this guy. Genius hack!!!
I worked as a water treatment plant operator for years. The water that leaves the treatment plant is good, it's what happens to it in the distribution system that may make some folks want to filter it. It's probably still fine to drink, but depending on where you live it might pick up taste and odor issues on the way to your home. Refrigerator filters are for the most part activated charcoal filters that help taste and odor. You'd be surprised how much bottled water comes directly from the tap, but if it makes you feel better then go for it!
I bought the new GE profile side by side. Same filter. I wish I had purchased the Samsung 4 door at Costco. About the same price but easily twice the quality of this fridge. It always runs, always. It's quiet , thankfully, but all the plastic squeeks and groans when I open and close the door. Not the GE of 20 years ago, that one was quality built. I already had to fiberglass one of the door buckets because the cheap plastic cracked on the bottom. This is the 2nd fiberglass door bucket i've had to fix. Cheap Son's a Biscuits. Thanks for the video.
The label peel may not work anymore. We bought a new GE fridge last November (2023) and it's time for a new filter. I'm usually pretty good with peeling labels with a hair dryer. But apparently not with this (new?) label. There is adhesive on the (conductive?) silver printing of the "chip" which easily tears apart leaving some remaining on the old filter. At least that's what happened to mine, and I can't get the label to work so no more water until I get a new GE filter. So either I botched the job or GE has found a way to make it near impossible to remove the label and leave that silver printed circuit intact.
I use the same Berkey. That is the reason that I chose not to get a water/ice compartment on the face of the refrigerator door. Thanks for the advice. I still need the filter for the ice maker.
This is genius, thank you very much! BTW I was not able to find the Amazon Basics filter, but I got the Glacier Fresh and it works perfect with your hack. Also a pack of 3 costs around $30 💪
Thank you very much for watching and for the great comment. Yes I had another person. Tell me that the Amazon basic was not in service anymore apparently and I actually sent them a link to the three pack of the glacier ones because they seem just as good as the Amazon basic and that was a great price too. So I’m glad it all worked out. Thank you and have a great day.
Hello, My new refrigerator uses the XWFE filter and in about 2 months I will need a new one. This is strictly a guess but I'm thinking the computer that controls the machine keeps tabs on a serial number or a RFID freq. of the current filter and wants to see/read a new ID of the replacement filter. Your solution solves one issue and you get filtered water. IF I purchased a new OEM filter and used it for 6 months the computer will now have a new ID in memory overwriting the original filter that came with the fridge. When the second filter is used up THEN try your label exchange using the first filter label and putting it on a cheaper XWF filter. This "might" reset the water status back to 100% and turn off any warnings. Then start this round-robin with two different OEM labels using the cheaper XWF filters. Only downside is one would have to purchase another genuine filter and remove the label once it was used up. What do you think? Thanks.
To make it even easier, you can install (or have installed) an in-line water filter OUTSIDE of the fridge on the supply line. That way you can change it without having to move all your cold food around to get to the filter location. Just leave the latest label/filter arrangement inside the fridge and filter the water before it gets to the internal filter. You can choose all different kinds of filters that have MUCH better lifespans and filtering abilities.
Es la primera vez que lo cambio y funcionó muy bien. Tengo una pregunta , la nevera hace hielo aunque tenga el código rojo encendido??, gracias por su ayuda
Yes. The light will be red because there is no way to reset it since we are using the same chip and it goes just by time. I replace mine every six months and I just write a date on that filter that I put up in there. Thank you for watching and have a great day.
It will stay red. It thinks you’re using the same filter and you have not changed it out. It wouldn’t turn green unless it’s reading a new chip that will cost you 50 bucks. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!
Yes, a lot of manufactures are starting stuff like this and we’re all just got keep working hard to figure out a way around. Have a great day and thanks for watching.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again. First time effort resulted in a damaged RFID and the purchase of a new official filter. This morning I used a heat gun on low and successfully transferred the label to the back of the fridge.
You know what the new fridge is it will just depend but for now all I can tell you is it is just reading whether there is a chip there or not not whether it’s a new chip. Now that could even change later down the road, but it’s just reading that there’s a chip there. That’s why if you put a filter in without a chip, it won’t work if you have that chip there, it will work. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day.
It will not shut off the water, but it will come on every time you use it just because it thinks it’s the same filter. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend.
Here is the link to the filter that should work for you. Several others have bought this one because the other never came back in stock and it does work. amzn.to/3S7IZ8o Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Did this yet my filter status did not reset. Once it hits 0, the newly installed filter will not work. Suggestions? I dont see a way to reset the status light without buying a new XWFE filter.
The filter status will not reset because it is the same chip that it is reading. Our fridge does not cut the water flow just because the status is at 0%. Let me know if it cuts your water flow.
I just bought a GE fridge that was on sale at home depot. Came home and checked the price on new filters. Yeah $49. I'm almost tempted to stop the delivery and get one without an ice maker. You're right they will start putting the chip inside. There has to be a way to bypass this?
We just got a new printer at our job and we cannot use the generic cartridges for ink that we already have because of the chips that are in the new ink cartridges for that printer. You have to buy them from that company. Cannot stand this. 😡
GE fridges only remember the current RFID tag so if you alternate between 2, you should the normal reminders without having to remember installed dates
It would if you had a filter with a new chip on it. The only way to reset it is it reads a new chip and it resets it. So, you’d have to actually buy a GE water filter.
It’s great that there is a workaround, but have you found a third party filter that filters out lead? I ended up getting the GE one because it seemed to be the only one available that filters lead.
amzn.to/3MmCbR0 : This is the filter we use as replacement on it. We only use it for the ice coming out of there because we do have a berkey water filter that we use for water. When you go to the link, click on the part after you scroll down on the user manual and it does have a chart that shows everything that it filters out and why it is on there. Just compare it to the one you’re using and see if it’s about the same. Have a great day and thanks for watching.
how does that work since the refrigerator knows that that rfid tag has gone through 170 gallons..it doesn't care what its attached to. if it is close to shutting off the water i.e. showing a red light, It will eventfully shut of the water
It does not shut off your water. The chip on it only lets you know that that filter is there and then it just does a timeframe as far as how long it’s been on there. Yes, your red light will always come on telling you that it needs to be replaced because there’s no way to reset that, but it does not shut off the water.
We do not think it tracks gallons at all. As far as we know, it is only going by a time frame and that’s why the red light will still come on after you put the new filter on. We are actually on our second filter using the same tag and have not had any issues. Obviously Fridges can be different, so I’m not sure what the issue is but I have not had anybody else say that it would not work for them. One thing to check would be to see if you damaged the chip when you took it off of the GE filter. Because it doesn’t take much to damage those when you pull them off that’s why you have to heat it up real good not saying you didn’t, but it can just happen. I would definitely hold onto the filters you have and maybe go ahead and buy you a new GE filter and use it and then when that one’s ready to expire, try the same trick again with taking that tag off of that filter. Thanks for watching and have a great day
I bout 6 Waterdrop XWF filters from Walmart for $36.99. I put one in without the rfid chip and it works fine. I am keeping the old label with the chip just in case but so far it works great.
Didn't work for me, I tried boiling it to loosen before I found this vid. Not getting err message anymore but I prob damaged it. Never again GE. Never again.
I cut the rfid chip off an old filter with a small electric saw and taped it to the sensor inside the fridge. Installed the new filter and it worked fine. It's irritating the warning light is on but screw GE. I will never buy another fridge with this rip off system on it.
Thanks for this. After painstakingly removing the label with a hair dryer, at first it was showing an error so thought maybe I damaged it. But you showed the correct position for the chip, at first had it below that piece at the top that comes off.
I haven’t heard that GE has blocked it yet. And this is only the second time I’ve heard of it not working for somebody. I can tell you in doing my test runs. if that chip does not come off clean, if you leave a little bit of it on the old filter at all, it will not work. The chip has to come off clean. Sorry it did not work and I hope you find a solution. Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Appreciate the follow-up, what I found especially strange what is that I took a brand new authentic GE unit and held it up to the reader and it also didn't work
No, " SUPER GENIUS" Wile E. Coyote called himself in classic 1952 cartoon Operation: Rabbit. Its just weird way my mind works as it's a vast treasure trove of useless facts. So thank you for saving me some time & money.
This was great, thanks!! Everything worked, but will my filter light eventually go off, or is it still reading and thinking I’ve got the old filter in there?
Very nice, and thanks for putting this video. It worked for me. GE filter $55, non-GE filter $11
You are welcome and thank you for watching!
There should be a law against this. You paid for the refrigerator and should be free to buy your filter from whoever.
This trick worked and I am so happy that I have a new filter on my frig. I bought 2 filters from a water filter company that was a genuine GE part. In our conversations back and forth with this company, they said that their filters do not have the chip. I called GE and asked them if all GE XWFE filters have the chip. Yep, had the same door movement issue. Red Loctite cured that problem. It's been a year now.
So great! With a hairdryer, it took me just 3 minutes to get the label off. I hate it when companies do things that they pretend is for the consumer's benefit that is actually solely for their benefit!
Great comment and so true. Thank you for watching and have a great day!

The movement to fighting this type of thing is called "right to repair"!
We completely agree! Thank you for sharing and watching!
You sir, are a hero. Also, never will another GE appliance go in my home. Ever.
I agree. Seems like a lot of these companies are starting to do it. We just had the same issue with a new printer at our office. You can only use the brand name ink cartridge and not the generic because of the chip in it. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!

I used a Glacier Fresh GF-XWF from Amazon (3 for $28.89). Didn't need to do anything with label (chip). Just installed new GF filter, everything worked.
XWF doesn't have the chip, but the WXFE is the new one and it does.

That’s the only downside to that part but we are very happy that it worked for you because buying the ones from Amazon or wherever definitely are a lot cheaper than buying the GE brand.
Just did this. Worked perfect. Something very satisfying about it. Paid $25 for three filters instead of $50 for one.
Awesome!! Thank you for watching and have a blessed week!
THE WORLD NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU THANKS..!!!!
Thank you very much for the wonderful comment! Thank you for watching!
INGENIUS!! Thank you sooo much!! Gonna buy the Glacier Fresh now!
You're welcome!! Thank you for watching and have a great weekend!
You saved me about $120 on these 3 filters Works great! Thanks so much for the hack!
We are so happy! It’s always great to save money!

That sounds great ! Thank you for watching and have a great weekend!
Thank you for making videos to help the little guy. Big companies are always trying to take the little we have.😊 keep doing what you are doing. This really helped me today.

Where did you buy your generic filter? Are they xwfe?
It works!!!!! it took me a minute but I managed!!! Thank you for this hack !!
You're welcome!
Wow! Who first figured out this trick? Great job! And thanks for getting the word out!
We had some help from a friend and a little investigating. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend!
Swapped my filter today successfully! Thx!@@TheCoupleThatGrillsTogether
Thanks, just put our filter in and it works perfect. The filter replacement light does remain on though.
Yes, it will because it is reading the same chip and it doesn’t think you have replaced it. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day.
Definitely going to try this. You are so right about the highway robbery attempts from these big conglomerates. Thank you so much sir!
You are welcome! Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Glad you made video on this. Had same problem with new filters. Pulled label off original put it in place, All works perfect never wood have realized such a thing. THANKS

FYI: If you ever call for warranty work, DO NOT let GE know about the hack. It could void your warranty.
You are correct. Good reminder and thank you for sharing. Have a blessed weekend!
Thank you SO much for this video! I did this and it worked for me! I thought maybe it didn't because of the Filter Status still being red, however, I saw the comment that this would be the case. dude your the man!! we ordered some from Amazon and this trick definitely works!!
Thank you very much! We are excited it worked and you are saving money! Thank you for watching and have a great day!

I'm so glad I found this video. I had been buying the $50 filters for the longest and was looking for a cheaper alternative ❤
Thank you for watching and we are glad you can save some money! Have a great day!
I must have screwed and unscrewed the generic one about 25 times until I found your video. Thanks for saving the day !!!
You are welcome! The 26th time was the charm! Thank you for watching and Happy New Year!
I use the same Berkey. That is the reason that I chose not to get a water/ice compartment on the face of the refrigerator door. Thanks for the advice. I still need the filter for the ice maker.
Yes, we love our Berkey and use the fridge for ice. Thank you for your comment and have a great day!
Thank you so much! I hope you forever have a cold pillow
Thank you so much! My husband was getting so frustrated trying to do the replacement filter. So happy I found your video!! 😊
You're welcome!!
Thanks.
Interesting. Let us know how that works out. Thank you for watching and Happy New Year!
I sure will but it won't be for awhile. Happy New Year!
You are a life saver! Gonna subscribe great find. And I almost bought the ge brand for 50 bucks for 1. Glad I came upon your video. thank you
Awesome! Thank you!
That is a great idea. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much the water is flowing now. Hopefully I can clear the filter status button
Thank you so much for watching and have a great day!
Should the filter status turn back to green or it stays red after the procedure? Thanks for the video.
It will stay red. It thinks you’re using the same filter and you have not changed it out. It wouldn’t turn green unless it’s reading a new chip that will cost you 50 bucks.
Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!
Thanks man, just ordered some. GE is really slimy for this.
That is so true. I had to do it myself. Thank you for watching and have a blessed weekend.
Great but now with the new fridges like GE profile that I just purchased won’t won’t unless there’s an chip smh
Have you tried using the rfid sticker from the ge filter bypass?
No, I have not but that is a great idea! Thank you. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day!
Which filter model did you get as the replacement? I only xwf not xwfe. Also will the red filter light stay on?
The red light will stay on.
GLACIER FRESH XWF Replacement for GE XWF Refrigerator Water Filter Pack of 3: amzn.to/3Hal162
This is brilliant! So glad I found this. Thank you very much for the insights :)
You're so welcome!
We have the same frig. Hack worked great. Thanks so much for sharing.
You are welcome.
Worked if put on high enough for refrigerator to read, thanks
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
Great video. What happens when the red "change filter" light comes on? Will the fridge shut off the water after a while?
It will not shut off the water, but it will come on every time you use it just because it thinks it’s the same filter. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend.
Much obliged.
Super helpful. However, that Amazon Basis filter is no longer available. Is there an alternative you would recommend?
Here is the link to the filter that should work for you. Several others have bought this one because the other never came back in stock and it does work. amzn.to/3S7IZ8o
Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Great job!
Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching and have a blessed day!
My only question that you didn't cover was will the orange light go off at anytime after changing filter?
It will not because it thinks you still have the same filter and will not reset. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day.
Gonna try this in 5 months. Thank you!
You are welcome. Have a great day!
Reminder to try this
This is genius & extremely clever!!
Thank you very much. We are glad it worked and thank you for watching!
Thank you for the hack!!!
You are welcome. Have a blessed weekend!
Worked for us. Thank you so much God bless.
You're welcome! God bless and thank you for watching!
How can I bypass the rfid reader itself? I ripped the old one when removing it.
There is no way to bypass the reader.
GREAT TIP! Thank you so much for sharing and watching! Have a great weekend!
This worked for me…thanks.
You are welcome.
Thx for sharing, and it works !!
You're welcome!
Dosn't the new filter reset the time to go in the filter sensor?
It would if you had a filter with a new chip on it. The only way to reset it is it reads a new chip and it resets it. So, you’d have to actually buy a GE water filter.
That was great advice👍thank you😬
You are welcome!
Can you include the amazon link or the part # for the cheaper filter ?
Thank you for watching and happy new year!

Amazon Basics Replacement GE XWF Refrigerator Water Filter: amzn.to/3Poje19
The Amazon filter is still not in stock. Look at this link. amzn.to/3S7IZ8o , others have used this one and it does work.
Great thank you! I just ordered it for the next filter replacement.
Worked for me thanks!
Great to hear!
how does that work since the refrigerator knows that that rfid tag has gone through 170 gallons..it doesn't care what its attached to. if it is close to shutting off the water i.e. showing a red light, It will eventfully shut of the water
It does not shut off your water. The chip on it only lets you know that that filter is there and then it just does a timeframe as far as how long it’s been on there. Yes, your red light will always come on telling you that it needs to be replaced because there’s no way to reset that, but it does not shut off the water.
Works like a charm now. Right to repair legislation should put an end to this kind of crap.
Unfortunately, I tried this trick on 2 filters, and now the 3rd one won't work. Do we think the fridge limit how many gallons that RFID can flow?
Thanks for watching and have a great day
My family loves your dogs.
Aww, thanks! They have their own channel! We’d love it if you followed them @twohappybostons - we post videos of them all the time!
I bout 6 Waterdrop XWF filters from Walmart for $36.99. I put one in without the rfid chip and it works fine. I am keeping the old label with the chip just in case but so far it works great.
Good to hear. Thank you for sharing.
Didn't work for me, I tried boiling it to loosen before I found this vid. Not getting err message anymore but I prob damaged it. Never again GE. Never again.
You are King! And shame on GE!!!
Thank you and thank you for watching!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! It worked.
You're welcome!
@@TheCoupleThatGrillsTogether Can't believe how petty these A-holes are that they would pull a stunt like that.
wow! thank you so much for this hack!!!!
You're welcome!!
thanks for this video
You are welcome! Have a blessed day!
Thanks a lot for this.
You're very welcome!
Didn't work for me. Still getting err message and no water. GE not my fav right now. Thanks for vid though.
Sorry to hear it didn’t work. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so very much!
You're very welcome!
Thank you 🙇 ❤
You're welcome 😊
I cut the rfid chip off an old filter with a small electric saw and taped it to the sensor inside the fridge. Installed the new filter and it worked fine. It's irritating the warning light is on but screw GE. I will never buy another fridge with this rip off system
on it.
It is a rip off! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I absolutely would have bought the cheaper filters and thought they were wrong and went back to GE.
I know. We are very happy it works!
Thanks for this. After painstakingly removing the label with a hair dryer, at first it was showing an error so thought maybe I damaged it.
But you showed the correct position for the chip, at first had it below that piece at the top that comes off.
So glad we could help! Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Why do they do that?
GREED. We all want to make money, but trying to screw over your customers is beyond me. Thank you for watching and have a great day!
badass!
Thank you. Have a blessed day!
Just try this and didn't work anyone know if GE blocked it already
Is that reaction to say it's blocked
I haven’t heard that GE has blocked it yet. And this is only the second time I’ve heard of it not working for somebody. I can tell you in doing my test runs. if that chip does not come off clean, if you leave a little bit of it on the old filter at all, it will not work. The chip has to come off clean. Sorry it did not work and I hope you find a solution. Thank you for watching and have a great day!
Appreciate the follow-up, what I found especially strange what is that I took a brand new authentic GE unit and held it up to the reader and it also didn't work
Yes it works!😄
We are very happy it worked!
Great.
Thank you. Have a blessed weekend!
No, " SUPER GENIUS" Wile E. Coyote called himself in classic 1952 cartoon Operation: Rabbit. Its just weird way my mind works as it's a vast treasure trove of useless facts. So thank you for saving me some time & money.
You are welcome!
This was great, thanks!! Everything worked, but will my filter light eventually go off, or is it still reading and thinking I’ve got the old filter in there?
Unfortunately the light will not go out. But, you will save money! Thanks for watching!
thank you
You're welcome
Wow!
The more you know!
Yes, we were very excited about it.
I paid $55 for an actual GE filter …and it didn’t work. I ended up returning it.
