    Beautiful clock! Love the suggestion of rusting the brad nails in a wee bit of vinegar and bleach so the nails don't stand out against those fabulous rusted numbers you scored (on Ebay, I think you said). Great video, very inspiring, m'dear!

    Beautiful! I actually liked it when you had the distressed white & stain look but finished product is incredible! I’m at a standstill for my next pallet project but now I think I’ve officially found it! Thanks for the idea!

    nice clock Chris. when i need to make a circle for my clocks i use a straight board and screw my router to the end with a straight bit in it and measure the diameter of the circle and screw it into the wood, plundge my router bit in about 1/4" and spin it around lowering my bit till I'm throw the wood

      Yes another great option... To be honest with their wood I preferred the minimum of my tools go near it! :) I always try to be sure there are no nails left but seems liek I always find one with a planner blade or something so I was trying to keep that to a minimum. The method you speak of is an excellent way to do it.
      Thanks for watching!
      Chris

    muriatic acid to rust metal. I get zinc bolts to look aged in a few hours. Metal hates that stuff.

    • @TheChrisPineWorkshop
      @TheChrisPineWorkshop  8 років тому

      I also have a can of rusty nails form pallets... They are much bigger than I wanted to deal with for the numbers.. The otters trick is amazing how fast it rusts the nails... Like a made chemistry experiment. :)

      Strange - I was watching something recently where soaking in vinegar (and salt?) was done to REMOVE rust! Certainly my wife used a vinegar and salt solution to clean copper pieces prior to kiln enamelling when she used to make jewellery.

    Beautiful work great understanding of how many layers/colors of paint accumulate over the years. HonestlyI would’ve liked it better if you left out the last coat. The white and red layer looks a lot better. Still a wonderful job!
