To be honest I was never that big a fan of Jim Carrey's movies I like some of them but others I really don't. Who he is as a person I think is amazing. To turn away from a career that he knew wasn't validating him and to try and be himself in Hollywood, a world that is as artificial as blue food, is one of the bravest things I've watched a human do. He's awesome.
@@MsProdworthy he'd had three bombs before she died which I imagine didn't help his career either. I think given the caché of his name he still could have got work but I think her overdose and the lawsuits might have been the final nails in the coffin of his desire to act for a bit.

We literally watched him go through an existential identity crisis. I always thought during that period that he was so disturbed he almost became obnoxiously aggressive with his spirituality much like someone when they first begin to read self help books. You could see him struggling and now it seems like he has come to terms with whatever he has discovered. Must admit though there was a period where I thought he lost it. It’s funny my whole life I’ve heard people talk smack about depressed celebrities, telling them to shut up cause they are rich and have great lives. The idea that money and attention will make us whole continues to be a sickness we all suffer from until we face some version of it ourselves. Thanks for the great video 😊
I don't think it's about believing money will make you whole. It's about acknowledging and being grateful for what he has. When you're struggling to pay the rent, nobody wants to hear a rich man complaining.
In 2018, Jim Carrey received a text message while he was in Hawaii that a missile will hit in a matter of minutes. He frantically tried to call his daughter but his daughter wasn't picking up and time was running out. So he walked out into the beach and take "everything" in and told himself exactly that line in the end of this video "I had a wonderful and lucky ride in this life. And yes I had enough" and thanked Life. Clearly the missile alert was false, when it didn't happen. But that one moment changed him a whole lot he said recently, and he looks a lot more happier.
I remember that day so clearly. My brother was living on the big island at that time, and all I could do was pray it was a hoax or a mistake while talking on the phone with him. In those few moments, I said everything I needed to say, and when he passed away years later, I reflected on that phone call and felt gratitude for the conversation we had, even though the situation that prompted it was so terrifying. Totally unrelated to anything Jim Carrey related, but despite never having heard this quote before reading your comment, it's a poignant message that many people could benefit from taking to heart.

Absolutely one of the most unique, special and most talented actors ever born, and for sure, one of my favorite ones ever. He seems to have a great deal of sympathy which matters to me a lot, even with his fuck ups, and bouts of what may seem like “craziness”, I don’t see him as bad at all, who isn’t slightly “crazy” sometimes and or fucks up here and there. If anyone feels he needs forgiveness, I think he’s shown more than enough remorse for what ever “mistakes” or fuck ups that happen along the ride. He still has my respect and admiration.
I've always loved his movies. I absolutely love how he BECOMES the character he's playing. Now, looking back, it feels like he could have used a good therapist to help him answer the questions he was asking himself. That said, he seems to be in a good place these days. I love that for him.
Him acting as Robotnik in Sonic touched my soul. I questioned the casting choice because he looks nothing like Robotnik, and then he nailed the character anyway 😂 total respect for the man
I've got to put him up there with some of the most unforgettable unique and original comedians of our lifetime ... Thank you for giving us a look into the man! Brilliantly done!
One of the wisest people out there. His talent is utterly undeniable (Liar Liar court and the Bruce Almighty Evan live scenes being my favourites) but his experience of pain, mental health and alternative ways of thinking comes out occasionally, producing incredible moments of clarity as he speaks. Many of the most successful comedians have this bifurcation of happiness and sadness, many of them suffering from depression and other issues that seemingly balances out the humour and effervescence (Robin Williams, Tony Hancock, Peter Cook, Peter Sellers etc). These treasures need to be told how much we love and appreciate them... the rest however can fuck right off ;P

How many videos do you normally upload? Sometimes I swear I finish one and another one pop up and I be like " wait didn't I just finish the recent upload?"
Years ago when people were saying “Jim carry’s going crazy” and I watched videos of him saying the awards show was meaningless. My first thought was that he was being more genuine and truthful than anyone in entertainment.
He's awake and helping people awaken just by being himself. His speak where he mentioned love & fear was very influential to me and my life. It's planted the seed of thought which has helped me get closer to myself and homeostasis.
Man, Johnny Carson introduced so many great comedians to the world it is insane. It was like an appearance on Carson could make you a made man in comedy. I don't think there will ever be a person with that ability in entertainment again. Generally I start to cringe when people with options most people will never see start getting off into "spirituality", heck it's often cringy when people with no options start getting into spirituality, but a few of the things Carey said actually made some sense. The guy has brought happiness to so many people, I just hope he finds some for himself.

I don't think you can call Jim Carrey underrated. Ask anyone and they will speak highly of him. He's never won an Oscar, but we all know how that really works $$$
Yeah, I guess when you get to the top you can really see it for what it is. He deserved all the success he had and still has, but I'm glad he's at a stage in his life now where he doesn't feel pressured to keep doing films for the sake of doing them, or because he's being told he has to.
One of my favourite humans ever liar liar the mask and the grinch are my favourite of his films. Such a legend, shout out to in living colour giving him a spotlight to shine.
I remember it was August 1994 and I was on an international flight to Europe from Australia and the in-flight movie was The Mask. I was 20 years old and I fell in love with Jim Carrey.
Good the see someone took the time here to point out Jim Carrey. Yes he put I smile on my face as well when I was younger. He is one of a kind that child loving hollywood will never ever deserve no more if it ever had. He is a legend beyond that evil wich is hollywood.
I was born 1994, parents introduced me to Jim Carey in 1998 and I have loved everything, I used to want to be a comedian because of him, but it's very hard to be a professional laugh taker
Textbook definition of bipolar! When he's great, he's very, very great. When he's depressed, he's at death's door! Another one that fit this was Robin Williams. They are amazing when they're up, but in a bad way when down. Thank God Jim Carrey has managed the lows. He's amazing!
For anyone wanting a good film to watch: Jim and Andy. Without a doubt one of the best documentaries ever made and its about this genius while trying to reconsile with parts of himself and also not himself.
I've never been able to even tolerate Jim's brand of comedy and acting, but he seems like a very genuine dude to be honest. Outside of the wacky, neurotic characters he frequently plays, he seems very grounded as a person.
I’m digging these videos you’re putting out. I mean, I’ve always liked your obscure old stuff that would be like “How did grime and UK DNB influence parkour?” But these new one have a different vibe. Nice work.
@jimmythegiant I am really impressed with the consistency and improvement of you videos. the original series with action sports was a organic topic for you. I like to see all the journalism and writing skill you have acquired being used for in-depth stories like these. maybe a full documentary with a team of filmmakers like "yes theory" or like "knowing better". currently i think your work is the bright side to sunnyV2's Darkness and horror stories. yin and yang.
growing up, my family would go on roadtrips frequently. My siblings and I would choose, above all else, two movies to bring. They were absolute musts: The Mask and Dumb & Dumber. To this day, we all quote lines from these comedies and we never get tired of it. They just bring infinite joy. And for that I'll always be greatful to Jim and consider him a legend.

Its fairly unique to most youtubers and you dont do the same story/video you see from 100 different channels all covering the same exact story/video/topic. Even if you end up covering a topic a bunch of people talk about, you put a lot of work into it, cover it very entertainingly. Cheers Mate
I remember when “In Living Color” started and although it was mainly a cast of people of color (like the name suggests) Jim was the one who stood out as the funniest, most talented person on the show. His physical comedy was so extreme he just blew everyone else out of the water.
Jim like Robin Williams, isn't only able to make you laugh, he's also able to make you cry through dramatic roles, I remember crying a lot when I saw him in The Majestic, which is one of those movies make you cry when you see them for first time. Furthermore, I have a feeling that the entire world will not be prepared when Jim doesn't exist on this Earth anymore😪
I remember going to the cinema to watch Ace Ventura Pet Detective and the trailer they played before the movie was The Mask. It was only until later that I learned Carrey had actually signed on for The Mask before AVPD.
_Thank you, I adored him and still have my great respect. Oh, great nineties!_ Ace Ventura: Pet Detective / Zvířecí detektiv. My brother and I loved him.
I don’t care what nobody says about Jim Carey he is one of the best of all time’s! He’s legendary! He’s my childhood, my teenage hood, my adulthood! He deserves more ratings then he gets and it always happens that way sadly. True talent always gets put on the backboard! You rock Jim Carey!! You’re one of the reasons my imagination and sense of humor has developed as it is❤❤❤❤❤❤love ya dude😂😂😂😂
I remember In Living Colour in the early 90s, when it was on Sky One. I loved it, and his mid90s movies are a staple for anyone growing up in that wonderful timeline. I actually think his best work was The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine.... The latter being something you can take more from with each watch, especially if youve been going through a break up yerself. And being an early 90s teen, Sonic was a huge deal. So its great to see him look like he's havin a Ball as Robitnik there. Great video. Love these insightful essays on pop culture characters.
I know how Jim feels. I've been working my whole life for some kind of security or success, I feel like I don't know myself. Now that I no longer work for a living, I don't know who I am, I need to know me. What is the purpose of it all. So I meditate and get to know my family again, and someday i'll get to know myself as well.
I was never into the silly comedy movies he put. But I really loved The Truman Show. I also love a much lesser known, but very serious title of his, The Majestic.
I just love the idea that he retired entirely from acting, getting into this super deep philosophical mode but when people came to him with "hey do you wanna be Robotnik in a Sonic movie" he pause two seconds to think and said "yeah. yeah I'd like that".
I think ppl loved to hate him too, kinda weirdly, but maybe that’s just the energy he was projecting. You didn’t show any “The Majestic” clips, one of my favorite “serious” Jim Carrey’s. This man is a comedy legend. (I think this one is gonna hit the algorithm jackpot🤞)
The worst part about achieving your goal is achieving your goals Often you are left feeling empty Because we set our sights on the wrong things to begin with
The movie the man on the moon really explains a lot about how his life is going, I believe. Like the rest of us, i hope he can find peace in this life. My all time favorite is Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind though. 😊

Yeah, I guess when you get to the top you can really see it for what it is. He deserved all the success he had and still has, but I'm glad he's at a stage in his life now where he doesn't feel pressured to keep doing films for the sake of doing them, or because he's being told he has to.
Much Love To Jimmy The Giant!!
Yeah keep popping up on projects and please live forever. Much love and respect. Salute.
Huge part of my childhood , hope he finds his peace ❤
Enjoyed this insight to his past. One of my fav & the best of actors to ever be on screens.
One of my favourite humans ever liar liar the mask and the grinch are my favourite of his films. Such a legend, shout out to in living colour giving him a spotlight to shine.
15:16 On point, you hit the spot sir! Just compare the 90s Movies vs Movies of 2010s - Present! 90s has a LOT of varieties! Well done sir!
Jim Carrey gets the cosmic joke, he's the man
Him and Robin Williams were my childhood. God bless Jim Carrey
I remember it was August 1994 and I was on an international flight to Europe from Australia and the in-flight movie was The Mask. I was 20 years old and I fell in love with Jim Carrey.
One of the kings of comedy for sure.
he's a pretty good serious actor too, such as in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I love Jim Carrey. He was a huge inspiration for me in life.
The truman show was just literally gold. His quality of movies feel like they really went downhill after that.
Truman Show is an actual masterpiece and way ahead of it's time as it feels more relevant to today than the 90s
I’d say the same thing about The Cable Guy too, a film warning us about the effects of media saturation.
@@paulorockybut not only that.. social isolation can lead to mental illness.
Nice work.
Thanks for following for so long dude ❤️
@jimmythegiant I am really impressed with the consistency and improvement of you videos. the original series with action sports was a organic topic for you. I like to see all the journalism and writing skill you have acquired being used for in-depth stories like these. maybe a full documentary with a team of filmmakers like "yes theory" or like "knowing better". currently i think your work is the bright side to sunnyV2's Darkness and horror stories. yin and yang.
Thank you bro thats some real nice feedback - I certainly want to get out and do some IRL docs one day
growing up, my family would go on roadtrips frequently.
Absolute legend of a man. If only more people in the spotlight were like him instead of the corporate shills that we have now
Nice you started a podcast too. Im actually flabbergasted you dont have a bunch of music videos or started your own rap career. Which seems like LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE WORLD does ESPECIALLY UA-camrs. Naw but for real congratulations on your success, I love your videos and all the topics you cover. Its fairly unique to most youtubers and you dont do the same story/video you see from 100 different channels all covering the same exact story/video/topic. Even if you end up covering a topic a bunch of people talk about, you put a lot of work into it, cover it very entertainingly. Cheers Mate
❤ I am more of a fan now than ever...
Jim will always have a piece my heart and respect...
Even if he thinks he felt empty at that time, he is always my childhood star icon.
One of his greatest movies that is rarely mentioned is The Majestic
I remember when “In Living Color” started and although it was mainly a cast of people of color (like the name suggests) Jim was the one who stood out as the funniest, most talented person on the show. His physical comedy was so extreme he just blew everyone else out of the water.
I'll always love Jim.
6:05 "A bad Little Richard" Rich Little's a Canadian famous for his impressions. Well played
What a beautiful video, Thank you sir.
I was really worried there for a second but im happy for him finding this new sense of peace
great when silly, great when serious. I always loved Jim from my teens to adulthood, I have a feeling like we grew together.
To this day liar liar is one of my top 10 favorite films. Jim is a totally weird dude, but I dig it went always vibe with his weirdness!
Great docuseries your making
❤ Jim Carrey ❤
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
His best movie is a movie where he is the least Jim Carry. Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind.
See how he makes people smile, think about how he hides the pain
I know how Jim feels.
I've been working my whole life for some kind of security or success, I feel like I don't know myself.
Now that I no longer work for a living, I don't know who I am, I need to know me. What is the purpose of it all.
So I meditate and get to know my family again, and someday i'll get to know myself as well.
So good at what he does
I was never into the silly comedy movies he put. But I really loved The Truman Show. I also love a much lesser known, but very serious title of his, The Majestic.
I just love the idea that he retired entirely from acting, getting into this super deep philosophical mode but when people came to him with "hey do you wanna be Robotnik in a Sonic movie" he pause two seconds to think and said "yeah. yeah I'd like that".
nice video bro, you been working out a bit hey looking jacked!
The worst part about achieving your goal is achieving your goals
Often you are left feeling empty
Because we set our sights on the wrong things to begin with
When i read he was diagnosed with Asperger's his entire persona made sense. Masking and acting is a daily thing and Jim was incredible at it
love him just watched THE MAJESTIC on here for free. He is awesome love his art he is doing.
I love the retro Ontario channel so much
The movie the man on the moon really explains a lot about how his life is going, I believe. Like the rest of us, i hope he can find peace in this life.
My all time favorite is Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind though. 😊
Wish him all the best x
SUPER GENIUS...NAA PAST MEIN HUA NAA FUTURE MEIN KOI HOGAA
HILARIOUS INSIGHTFUL GENIUS!
Inter video universe segways man i love it 👌🔥
