Theo really is a comedic genius…he makes it seem like he’s stupid or doesn’t know what’s going on, but it’s all for the bit. Every single thing he says and does is to make the situation as funny as it can be, even when it requires that he makes himself look dumb.
Other comedians may do that at times, but no other comedian does it so dutifully without needing to say “guys, I’m not actually dumb, I’m just trying to be funny.”

It’s all about the timing for me. You can tell he knows when to pull the “dumb” pause or trip on the word he looking for. Most people listening think of the punch line then, address it is funny and in turn feel smart about comedy. Then he hits with something completely wild and way out of the box.

@@samsherrill8316 yeah! I work for a tour company, I had a college water polo team I was taking around Ireland. We were at Trinity College and I turned around and Theo was like twenty feet away from me looking at the same building we were just coming out of, the Trinity Library. I was like 'Theo Von??' he said 'sup dude'. He had two or three homies with him, I asked if he was doing shows, and the previous night had been his last one so I didn't get to see him perform.
He asked what was in the building and I told him a little bit about the Book of Kells. He asked about the team, and was like **insert Theo voice** 'so y'all out here splish splashin' around then huh'.😅
I asked him for a photo and he graciously took one with me. Talked for maybe five min max.
No one else in my group knew him and thought I had ran into someone I knew personally. a couple guys did know who he was once I told them. It was a neat interaction.
I saw Tracy Morgan in Times square on the street once getting in to his Ferrari but he didn't want to talk or take photos, which is totally understandable, especially in that hectic environment.

I’m so happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves. I’ll never forget the first time I saw him talking long form and I was fucking crying constantly. He’s genuinely one of the funniest people out there but isn’t worried about getting deal when needed. Get a better microphone or fix the sound issue because I can tell you are in a big room with the echo.

My favorite thing about Von is just how he puts sentences together ... his brain just works differently and he doesn't filter it out. His standup is hilarious, but just hearing him talking about stuff is on another level. In a room full of top notch comedians he's almost always the funniest dude in the room and the one that's cracking them all up.

I have so much time for Theo. There's things he's said during his more reflective and motivational times and they've impacted me so much. Genuinely made me a better at being a person in the world.
Then he goes and drops some of the best comedy going.
    He's good people.

Been enjoying Theo's comedy and podcast for several years. What I love is he'll have non comedian non famous people on his pod like a regular truck driver, plumber or mortician. Just regular ass people where it's still funny but you also get a slice of life that you'd probably never know about. If you wanna find some of the funniest shit - check out anything Theo does with Bobby Lee, they are a hilarious duo.

I’m Cajun, from far south louisiana, and I have never felt more represented than when I first heard Theo tell a story. Like it made me realize that there isn’t really anyone famous from Louisiana that I could relate to outside of Theo. I know of a lot of singers, actors, athletes, and just famous people in general, but I had never felt connected to them as much as I do to Theo

Ended up snorting coke with the taxi driver, then suddenly Theo drove the taxi 😂 The dude is different man. Different approach to comedy, different timing. He is 💯 funny and original. I don’t think is the funniest on stage, but he is the funniest comedian in real life, podcasts, conversations etc

His podcast with Louis C.K. was absolutely one of the most genuinely down to earth podcasts ever to be recorded, we ( humans ) are weird asf, and with theo and louis you get two raw and unfiltered voices on the human experience which is very rare and extremely inciteful, check it out if you get a chance.

He's so funny, at the same time touches on all these different interesting subjects with clever points and at the same time comes with introspective thoughts about him and mental health, real life situations, relationships, meaning of life and situations in it... He's one of a kind and I'm so grateful that I live in the same time as him, I admire him so much man.

I saw Theo in 2018 at the store. It was one of those tiny shows Rogan would use to practice material. Theo came on first and just destroyed and I was like who the hell is this guy?! I saw him a few months later back home in Chicago and he delivered yet again. See him live if you can!

  • @skyguyflyinghigh

i can relate to theo von a lot honestly, not to sniff my own farts but i get it, i grew up believing everyone hated me too, the answer to that ? say things that sound dumb even if you know they're wrong, because they lead into a better more fun conversation. no-one likes a smartass, drink, be dumb, do funny shit. you want to read about botany ? laugh about it with your friends and call it nerd shit whilst reading it by yourself. im certainly no genius, but i do act like im stupider than i am because being dumb and funny is more likeable than a long rant about some random autistic shit you know about.
i'd rather be seen as stupid and fun than smart and annoying, so i keep that front up unless im anonymous (like here). i think theo is the same, he's not just playing a character most of the time, this is who he is, a solid chill dude and him acting dumb is his defence for feeling unliked.
