Theo really is a comedic genius…he makes it seem like he’s stupid or doesn’t know what’s going on, but it’s all for the bit. Every single thing he says and does is to make the situation as funny as it can be, even when it requires that he makes himself look dumb. Other comedians may do that at times, but no other comedian does it so dutifully without needing to say “guys, I’m not actually dumb, I’m just trying to be funny.”
It’s all about the timing for me. You can tell he knows when to pull the “dumb” pause or trip on the word he looking for. Most people listening think of the punch line then, address it is funny and in turn feel smart about comedy. Then he hits with something completely wild and way out of the box.
I was in Dublin in January 2020 and randomly ran in to Theo. Really the only celebrity I have ever talked to besides politicians and that doesn't count. He was completely genuine and curious about myself and the group of people I was with (a water polo team). It is an awesome memory I have and am thankful for. An authentic dude through and through. Much love Edit: See below for the whole story! And thanks for all the likes #ganggang

I remember someone describing the late great Norm Macdonald as the "smartest guy in the room, pretending to be the dumbest". I think there's a lot of that in Theo as well. Sincere, playful, understated but really funny. Great vid Jimmy!
Honestly, Norm used to beat a mfers ass now and then, too. Lol, don't try and punk the class clown, he's not scared to be embarrassed. You just can't win against a man like that.

Norm was on a whole different spectrum, man was truly built different. But I agree, he's a genius but he uses that genius to play dumb for comedy purposes and honestly I think it helps him maintain his image
This guy is a poet when it comes to comedy and delivery. A lot of people can’t really comprehend the level of genius his comedy is, regardless if stories are exaggerated or not.
I’m so happy for Theo he deserves all the success he’s getting and as someone who has also felt I don’t fit in or feel accepted a lot of my life to see that reaction at the end of the audience and Theo getting emotional and feeling accepted is so beautiful and the fact he felt no one cared now loads of people care.
I’ve met Theo in person a few times - he’s an authentic person and a beautiful soul. It’s great to see how many people love him and all this love going his way. I wish him the very best and hope that he stays true to himself and wins all his battles
When Theo did his shows in Austin TX I saw him standing out front the venue after it ended just talking to people and taking pictures. He really cares about his fans and people in general.
I always thought this about him - everything he talks about could get him cancelled these days, yet he does it in a genius way where he includes, normalises and uplifts people. Thank you for this video
I think people assume Theo is TRYING to be what he naturally just IS, and they don't dive any deeper than sound bites. Listen to his podcast and you quickly understand the gig. He speaks his own language. If you can understand it, you're going to absorb good things, imo. This was good, thanks!

the heartfelt shit that comes out of theo is the most genuine statements ive ever heard. it makes me tear up everytime. this man cares so much about the people around him its astonishing
There's a lot of these oddball personalities making content that appeals to other oddballs. The difference with Theo is that he seems to have transcended that barrier, and despite being an oddball himself, he's managed to fit in with normal, well-adjusted people and become such a loveable person, while still being his true self. Truly an inspiration to me and other weirdos and oddballs who feel like we just don't belong or understand how to play this game of life.
Theo has this really cool ability that makes me feel like him and I are friends and that I’ve known him for so long. The way he can just connect to people is insane. Truly a treasure of a human. Love that man forever.
For the people who don't understand the depth and layers of Theo's jokes that sucks for you. Glad to be part of team Theo since I first saw him Netflix like 8 years ago with his debut. Love that guy
Theo said something one day that struck me as so extraordinarily profound my jaw literally dropped. And what it was escapes me at the moment but I just remember feeling genuinely shocked 😂
My favorite thing about Von is just how he puts sentences together ... his brain just works differently and he doesn't filter it out. His standup is hilarious, but just hearing him talking about stuff is on another level. In a room full of top notch comedians he's almost always the funniest dude in the room and the one that's cracking them all up.
Theo Von is brilliant. He’s literally as deep and profound as Duncan Trussell, who I consider to be the deepest of all the podcasters/ comedians out there! I never thought about that, Theo was born when his was 70. By the time he grew up to need a father to show him life, his dad was already close to his end. Idk how I could process that, truly, and I have my own stories growing up crazy in Chicago and experiencing hell on more than one occasion.

I really love Theo so much. He's so funny, at the same time touches on all these different interesting subjects with clever points and at the same time comes with introspective thoughts about him and mental health, real life situations, relationships, meaning of life and situations in it... I remember watching him on Joe Rogan's podcast one night just randomly....ended up listening through the whole thing. Funny enough, it was the first podcast i ever listened to, what a treat😂
Everyone loves him. Sure some people might think he’s not the sharpest or brightest but others do realize he actually is very intelligent. Regardless most people love the dude. Cool as hell, funny as hell, and a good kind heart
6:20 "...which was Theo telling these semi-unbelievable stories from his very weird childhood." >Shows clips of Theo just holding a mic up to people at Comicon.
Ended up snorting coke with the taxi driver, then suddenly Theo drove the taxi 😂 The dude is different man. Different approach to comedy, different timing. He is 💯 funny and original. I don’t think is the funniest on stage, but he is the funniest comedian in real life, podcasts, conversations etc
Hit me right in the feels. It's awesome to see good people with real insecurities do well in life. What Theo wants in life represents what all of us good normal people want in life, to be accepted and to be happy
I met Theo on the day i celebrated 3 years off drugs. In the meeting line, he stopped it all, went and got me a championship belt to put on for our picture. He really does give a shit.
Theo is so sweet and generous to his fans in person. He always seems just as happy to meet you as you are to meet him and he is so so humble. He’s one of the greatest minds of our time
I’m Cajun, from far south louisiana, and I have never felt more represented than when I first heard Theo tell a story. Like it made me realize that there isn’t really anyone famous from Louisiana that I could relate to outside of Theo. I know of a lot of singers, actors, athletes, and just famous people in general, but I had never felt connected to them as much as I do to Theo
I love Theo. I had a smilar childhood (although less gettho) and a lot of his jokes just resonates so hard with me. Makes me laugh and cry at the same time sometimes. He is genuine.
You can really see Theo's intelligence when he describes complex things in simple, almost reductive, ways. He bridges gaps in his knowledge when talking to people speaking about topics he doesn't have any contextual awareness of through the use of similes and anecdotes. A very interesting chap.
I believe Theo is not only the best comedian on the planet but one of the most kind, caring, introspective people on the planet. All while not know what's going on with himself, and that's okay. He's the best. Be good to yourselves.
Cause to understand someone different than you, you have to think critically and insightfully. Many, not all "Woke" people have a narrow world view and regurgitate the same view they watch online.
I saw Theo in 2018 at the store. It was one of those tiny shows Rogan would use to practice material. Theo came on first and just destroyed and I was like who the hell is this guy?! I saw him a few months later back home in Chicago and he delivered yet again. See him live if you can!
He flew out to Vegas n surprised Joey Diaz at his first Netflix special. One of the only times I saw Uncle Joey get teared up. Theos one of a kind. He has saved my life. Shout out for seeing the pig on here! Life in the big city!!
Noticed two things about him that I really like. First, he hardly ever talks from a point of knowing something more than the person he's talking to. He's never "worldly", never a hint of arrogance or superiority about him, and hardly any irony. Almost childlike. It hit me when I saw him on Triggernometry. Foster and Kisin are fun, but completely other mindset. It seemed like they didn't really know how to approach Theo, and he looked genuinely uncomfortable. Idk how much of it is an act tho. I see that similar quality in Pete Davidson's act, but for Theo, it's the main thing. Second, I can't remember him saying anything nasty or disdainful about anybody. It's comedy and he could get away with a lot, but, for example, never heard him say anything provocative or disrespectful abt women (which is normally a comedy staple and we mostly don't care). So yeah, Theo is something else
That triggernometry interview is my least favorite ever. For some reason it felt like they were tryna get him in a “gotcha!” Moment. The part where Theo starts to check him self out in the mirror is what explained it all. They perceived themselves as better than him. The looks they gave him the questions, the comments. He kept being himself and he could tell they didn’t like it.
@@edgaryt1009 you're very right. The mirror was almost symbolic, Theo became self-conscious 😄 whilst the hosts were like "there's not much to expose here 🤔"
@@anabltc that last question they threw at him “what’s the one thing we should be talking about that we haven’t” or something like that, even threw me off guard when I watched that interview lol
Been enjoying Theo's comedy and podcast for several years. What I love is he'll have non comedian non famous people on his pod like a regular truck driver, plumber or mortician. Just regular ass people where it's still funny but you also get a slice of life that you'd probably never know about. If you wanna find some of the funniest shit - check out anything Theo does with Bobby Lee, they are a hilarious duo.

Theo has a heart of pure gold on top of being uniquely hilarious. How can someone not love this dude?
Usually when you’re good at something that’s when everyone starts barking at you, when you’re the guy that can’t do anything no one reminds you.
He seems to be one of the more genuine people in that incestuous "comedy" podcast bubble.
Theo on the Joey Diaz podcast has to be my favorite hours of vocal art 😂 🙌🏽
6:20 "...which was Theo telling these semi-unbelievable stories from his very weird childhood."
>Shows clips of Theo just holding a mic up to people at Comicon.
Editing error sorry!
As someone who grew up in Louisiana there's a lot more truth than embellishments to those stories.
Comedic genius and model American. Bless this man. Love you Theo
I've said for a long time that he's a lot smarter than he first seems
That "dead man walkin'" just killed me, the dude on the right had to muster all the strength he had just to stop himself from laughing on the spot!
It’s awesome to see good people win the game, love Theo!
“They just never taught him to walk, I don’t even this he was crippled” lmaoooooo
lmao that killed me
I wish more people could be like theo.
Agreed
Theo is so sweet and generous to his fans in person. He always seems just as happy to meet you as you are to meet him and he is so so humble. He’s one of the greatest minds of our time
Theo is an American Karl Pilkington. Both comedy geniuses, fully genuine but can play to the part. Incredible People
This is actually a brilliant comp
i feel like Pilkington is genuinely slow and i feel like theo is incredibly smart but plays it down. what do you think?
@@milanbekkermusic I completely agree!
I cant believe i get to see him in October. Im ridiculously excited
Theo is so funny in ways that require you to think differently…my “friends” who I would consider “woke” all hate him and I can’t understand why
Lmao your friends just suck.woke people aren't immune to jokes
Cause to understand someone different than you, you have to think critically and insightfully. Many, not all "Woke" people have a narrow world view and regurgitate the same view they watch online.
“COUNTED
MY BLESSINGS OF HAVING AN ABICUS”
I ❤ that dude!
u look like mac millers hypothetical older brother good video
In a weird way Theo Von’s off brand countryside humor makes me feel better about growing up in a southern ghetto.
The best did Theo did for himself or his career is to keep himself away from Brenda’s Snob ! 🙄🤦🏽♂️
facts
Another channel psycho analyzing people based 100% on out of context clips of them trying to be entertaining online. Love it!
Nothing but admiration for Theo. Such a beautiful soul.
@@edgaryt1009 ikr 😅 they should've just enjoy the train of thoughts
I've watched and listened to all of those comedian's podcasts. Theo is the only one left for me. Guy is great!
