Hello, one thing that I've found to counter the touchscreen issues is to use a DVD Handycam remote. Allows me to use all the menu functions only at the cost of convenience of having to carry it around
@brandoncameracollection Yep, I'm actually trying it out with this exact camera and it works fine. Seems to work with most other handycams as well that I've tried. The model remote I'm using is called RMT-835 if anyone reading has the same issue
This was my youth camera. Back in the day I was dreaming of having something like vx1000, but now that I can compare its video quality, I can say that this little beast was on par (and maybe even better). Especially dynamic range.
Well yeah the vx1000 and vx700 were the first ever mini dv camcorders to come out back in 1995. So as time went on the video quality has definitely improved
My parents bought this camera 20 years ago in 2004 , and we had such an amazing memories video tapes with this camera. I am glad that we still have this camera sitting in our closet today it’s been 5 years that I haven’t used it I am planning to take video tape this week with this camera 📸 You can feel the early 2000s vibes when you record with this camera overall excellent quality camera. 📸 🎥 📷 (2024).
I found this video while I was searching about my DCR-TRV33... I wonder what should I do with it... I feel nostalgic about it, but... that's it... To have some decent quality in a DVD, I had to download all the videos back then trough IEEE1394... then deinterlace the video, etc...
Hi Brandon! I'm the proud owner of this camera, thanks for the video. Can you tell what did you use to capture the tape? I'm banging my head at the wall... firewire+apple thunderbolt didn't get me any results. Did you use the converters that you linked in the description?
No although that is a good choice to start out with. I have a video on how I currently capture videos here: Capturing VHS, HI8, or Mini DV Videos With A VCR/DVD Player - The Easy Way ua-cam.com/video/G3Yju9TZAN4/v-deo.html
Well as long as your tv has rca plugins it should work. But I don’t know much about Sony tv’s. I would think make sure your signal is set to composite or I think some tv’s call it VGA
I have a question- i just bought the mini dv and a new battery so the camera is now running. But it says “full” with a slash through a box when I try to record. I’m assuming this is referring to the memory stick. Do i have to get a new memory stick to record? Or is there a way to record on the dv thing ?
UPDATE: I changed some setting in the menu, to “internal r mem” on. Now it will let me take pictures and videos. So my new question is- am i able to see the pictures and videos on the mini dv on the camera? Or am I unable to see those till I unload the cassette and all that?
Hi, I found this old cam at my home. It worked perfectly and we just take all the photos to our harddisk. I just love that this cam good still. After that i want to try that myself and put a dvd in it. It went throug in there is no problem. But after that dvd stuck in there my oto system just doesnt work my dvd is not coming outside. Can you help me or it just cant fixible. (Sorry for my bad English)
So what I have figured out is any time a Sony model starts with CCD it’s an analog camcorder. So it will be either a video8 or hi8. Any time it starts with DCR it will be a digital camera. So it will be a digital8, mini dv, DVCAM, or HDV.
Not necessarily. You can use a Sony memory stick but the video looks really bad from the memory stick. So I definitely recommend using a mini DV tape for better video
Hi, when i record a video straight to the sd card, i am filming at 9 frames per seconds. Is there a way to fix this or is the only solution to record on tape or on a VHS recorder?
Hello! Just found your page, and am looking to get a camcorder for vloggin and capturing moments. I'm a total newbie to camcorders but am looking for something with a light and microphone like JVC mini DV. Can you help guide me in the right direction, i appreciate your wisdom! Cheers:)
Well this Sony trv22 would work great for you. I would try to stay clear from JVC mini dv camcorders most of them I have used have issues reading tapes
Hey ! Quick question! How do I put the data code on my videos when I play them back on my camera I have a pc 100 and a vx2000 but when I press data code on the remote it does nothing
Check in the menu, I think it might be under display settings. You will have to turn it on. Also make sure you have one of those small nickel size batteries in the camera. Those keep the internal clock moving even if the camera is off.
goddamn you’re so cute. i love your scooter vids. also just your camera info in general comes in so handy to all us camcorder hobbyists. major thanks for all the info i have learned from your vids. have i mentioned that you’re so cute??? 😂
Yes sir been scootering for about 13 years now. Not as good as I used to be but still like to go out. I tried skating for a little bit but the skateparks in my area suck ass for learning stuff

I have a sony hvr a1u and the touchscreen issues go away if I put the screen next to the body
How do u connect the remote?
You might need a new battery for it to connect and make sure the remote is the right one
I’m currently using this as my “daily-driver”. The touch screen is on it’s way out so I got a Remote Commander which makes life a little easier..👍

If you are using FireWire check out the Sony hvr-mrc1 it will save you so much time

I used OBS and a USB videograbber
Great video, thank you. I’ve recently inherited one of these and struggling to connect it to play on my Sony Bravia smart tv. Any suggestions?
Well as long as your tv has rca plugins it should work. But I don’t know much about Sony tv’s. I would think make sure your signal is set to composite or I think some tv’s call it VGA
How do you charge it? with the DV port?
Either the dc in or a separate battery charger
Hi,, thank you for your video! Can you pls add a link to the cord this camera uses to play it in tv?
Yes you’ll need a 3-1 av cable like this one. amzn.to/3PSdSfE
i like the quality of the video but i want to see how it shoot in the night time
Most of these older Sony camcorders have night shot so it can definitely do good at night
@@brandoncameracollection does it has flash integrated?
@dave.5035 no but it has a light

The Sony cx405 sells at $225 and has micro sd. Sony has not updated it selling new
Hi - what SD card does the camera require?
It used Sony memory sticks I believe
i wonder whats the difference between this and the CCD version

@@brandoncameracollection thank you for the clarification!!
I have a question- do you have to use tape for this??
Not necessarily. You can use a Sony memory stick but the video looks really bad from the memory stick. So I definitely recommend using a mini DV tape for better video
I have this camera I just need to convert my tapes to digital.
I have a playlist on different ways you can capture footage.

Thanks but I won't bother as I have digital cameras now.
I have a question how do i turn it on ?
Hi, when i record a video straight to the sd card, i am filming at 9 frames per seconds. Is there a way to fix this or is the only solution to record on tape or on a VHS recorder?
Yeah these cameras had awful video quality when you recorded to the memory stick. You definitely need to record to a tape to get better video quality
I am having issues getting my dcr-trv20 to record, please how do I do that
What is the issue it is having?
can i play the tapes through the camera? If so how?
Switch it from record mode to playback mode and you will be able to rewind the tape and watch your footage back
I wonder can it change the language and how to change? pls answer me thank you.
It should be somewhere in the menu
barspin out!
Can it use with memory stick pro duo? Thank you 😭😭
Yes but I don’t recommend the video will look awful
@@brandoncameracollection what you recommend brother?
Record to a mini dv tape it will have a much smoother video

Yeah check in the menu to see if it’s turned off. And if you don’t have the little battery in the camera it might not work.
@@brandoncameracollection could it also be that I don’t have a memory card? I don’t have one in either of them.
@Josuerobles11202 not the memory sticks are just for taking photos
