I started with the Shay because I wanted to accomplish two things- one, I wanted to load up on those cheap tiny cars. Two, I wanted to do the hard setting for industries to start so I can have more cash available after fully filling up the sawmill. The Shay with its tractive effort helps me do that best.
I did the shay and it was really slow but could pull a decent amount of weight. loved the track building by the way. Love the series. Good job!. 👍
Glad to see you back on something else besides survival. Enjoyed your track building. I too don't have time for messing around, and build loops in certain places, sawmill for sure.
When it comes to building the sawmill platform, you wanna go to the left first so you have room to build. Also, I always build a passing lane for anyone passing through so if someone is loading with beams and lumber and need to go the the sawmill to drop off logs but wants to do that on the way out, either you or they can switch it over to the passing lane so they can get through and not have to wait for you to move. 😊 Also when it comes to the Freight Depot and Logging camp, I also build a passing lane for the same reason.
Edit: When doing the bigger grades go for the dirt #3, it'll save you a lot of time and a huge headache from doing stuff over and over again. I learned that when I first started playing RailRoads online cause I was also having difficulty trying to get the dirt #1 to work but it wouldn't so i just stuck with the #3 dirt.
After watching ep1 I ran a loop out near exact where yours is. I also accidently deleted the log camp but no matter you can put another one wherever you want so I found out lol Just finished doing track down the sawmill. Sold off logs to XP up quick as I ended up with the snail Shay. Got the tier 5 green one with side tanks, that hauls ass!
There's a bug right now that doubles output for some reason lol. Anyways love the video and happy to see you playing RO again!
Definitely a nice looking game.
For RROx if you build new track you'll have to close, relaunch, and patch back in for the map to update, only way I've found so far and I think they're working on it, but it is nice to have RROx. I started with the Zooma as well and having RROx to set the tracks to where I need to run is awesome, like having an eye in the sky or roleplaying the very first switchboard lol, but I've placed most of my industries fairly close. Oil stuff is out in the desert, ore buildings (as well as the coal stuff) are fairly close to "spawn" as well as the depot, Logs and saw mill are the kind of the only ones that are a bit of a trip (only so I can full reg lol), and I don't have musch of a change in grade..maybe 1.5%. I'm liking this update and I can't wait to get back to coal trains.
..looking back..I should've started with the Shay, I'm running 16 car trains with the Zooma..she does NOT like it 😅😂
The new map looks great :)
I think the chuffs do in fact match up. In one of Hyce's vids he talked about how when RO redid some of the locos the chuffs were simulated much better, and he would know.
Maybe some locos are correct now, but it doesn't seem right on the Monty
I started with the old faithful. Good to see a new video on the game. I can't get enough of this bugged game.
they should make a campaign mode, so whenever you finish one map, you can restart on another, while still being able to continue with the old locomotives as an option
I have found it easier to Link in with bridges and rail when I have my grid set to 1 instead of 10. You were having a LOT better luck when you were set on 10 than I have ever had. That might also be due the fact that your system is much better than mine.
I started the lake map with a shay. I thought it was bugged as I didnt realise it was THAT slow. So I restarted and went with good old Betsy
All the geared locos are slow, but I think the Shay is the slowest. They were designed for pulling power on tight, steep lines so speed was not a concern. Thanks for watching!
I went with Betsy as a starter again. The Shay might be able to pull more, but that doesn't really come into effect on flat ground and it's top speed is atrocious. I'm using it as a helper for my rather compact iron mine station, and even there it would be nice if it had a second gear sometimes.
I tried Montezuma before, but even with the extra power it felt very sluggish compared to Betsy. I wonder if the game could have more viable starter engines.
RROX does match up.need to go into it and change manuly. I’ve been using for a week.
They added new map support after this was recorded.
Well I prefer a little bit of pre planing when laying my track
Hello, how do you turn of day time progression? I'm just getting back into after too long of a break. Nice to see your playthrus again.
Escape, Gameplay Options I think. There are time settings in there. If you set length of day/night to Inf it will stop (infinite)
@@KerboOnYT I didn't try inf. "To Infinite and beyond!"
I flew around today checking out the easter eggs, CTRL brought me down.
I believe there was a hot fix since this was recorded
If you fly in 3rd person(with one of the indusries), you can just fly up and down by looking with the camera.
That doesn't work for me. I just fly along level looking straight down at the ground
@KerboOnYT hmm. I've only gotten it to work in 3rd person while holding shift and pointing almost straight down.
T O O. M U C H. Bridge!!!
This map is not very conducive to realistic rail grades
So there's no damper to lower the temperature of the firebox? i thought this was a sim? It seems Derail Valley is the Sim.
RO is not a sim. It's more about laying track and building your own railroad
can I get a copy of that layout I been fighting with the sawmill some time now
I don't share my maps but there are some available if you don't want to lay your own track. Check the RO Steam discussions or reddit
Hit V Key in fly mode. to be like RROx
I'll try that, thanks
@@KerboOnYT Right Click to leave that mode.
