It really pisses me off when people think he's a bad singer just because he doesn't sound as good as he used to. That doesn't make him a bad singer, he still sounds good. Only true Oasis fans liked this performance and I'm one of them.
I actually love the arrangement of this, especially the strings. Just a shame Liam's voice isn't how it used to be.
Well said! Regardless of what you thought of Liam's singing (see Paul McCartney during opening ceremony, Emeli Sande and anyone else who didn't lip sync), this was performed in celebration of a song that influenced a generation.
If you haven't already, have a look online for the video of this performance. From the moment Liam sang the first words of the song, athletes and spectators alike came together, arms raised in the air, singing every word of the song. It was a truly magical moment.
This performance was amazing. The best part of the closing ceremony, in my opinion. They're still great.
props to liam for singing wonderwall and singing great! Love from America!
Awesome, highlight of the ceremony. Was watching it on a big screen with tens of thousands of people all singing along to every word, it was great!

Love or hate the recording, it beat out stats from the Spice Girls reunion and came second in totals views/likes/favourites out of all the closing ceremony performances only to One Direction (teeny girl power, perhaps). This isn't bad!
Well said mate, Oasis wouldn't be half of what it is/was without this legend's voice.
In this version, Liam Gallagher sounds like Jimmy Fallon doing Liam Gallagher.
A trick: watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Simon Dane yea, have been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself =)
@Simon Dane Yea, I've been using flixzone} for months myself :D
@Simon Dane definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for months myself :D
Guys, dont be so negative, Liam tells that he hasn`t played this song for years on stage, so respect Liam !
And yes, its completely shit, but after 1:40 its wonderfull :)
I don't know why people are complaining for, Liam sounds good here, sure he doesn't sound like he did back in the 90s but he's 40, He's better than most of the shit we have today.
How are people complaining about his voice, obviously it's going to change over the years, appreciate that he actually performed!
A performance made in music heaven.
hes not 21 anymore hes 39..hes not a pop star hes a rock star...this it not auto-tune crappy one direction this is music..he is not out of key he is on fine form..hes holding the notes and beady eye nAme is going round the world
LIVE FOREVER
Woah... shades of yesterday... love those songs from back then... nice to hear this again, Liam is older now, but the rememberance is still there... first time hearing him sing this song ever since the band broke up in 2009 brings a better time in music to mind.
enjoyed it very much, live forever liam glad you played that song my kids and me were singing it at the top of our lungs, best reason to be at the olympics.
his voice is amazing. it's the best one since be here now...
liams voice back in the day was unbelievable, dont get how people say otherwise. he can still pull out a few great performances, it wasnt just noel in oasis, they had the best blend. noels songwriting, liams voice and attidue... also, can i just add, id still rather listen to liam than the majority of shite that is out there nowadays.
Best moment of the Closing Ceremony in my opinion.
Alright, Liam's not the best vocalist in the world, but just listen to the crowd. Every single one of them was singing along. That, my friends, is the power of music.
He gets older , he will never have the same voice than the 90's!
the new arrangement of Wonderwall was just amazing! great vibe as the original track 18 years ago!
Liam's voice is getting better and better man.
Of course it IS 20 years later. Everybody's voice changes. I think he deserves major props for going out and doing this with such a huge audience. Give him a break.
Anyway, I loved it!!!!
I just cannot believe that how many people diss this performance. When i heard that yesterday I was almost crying because Liam never had sung Wonderwall so well. And now i watch these comments, and i almost cry because of you. I dont understand why people always have to hate on Liam. I truly fuckin love him and his voice.
I'll come back and listen to this when i'm 64... walk down the memory lane.
Never seen (heard rather) Liam start a song so nervously, but can't blame him, there's a few people watching. But he hits that Liam Gallagher magic tone and passion at 2:21 to 2:23. On it kid. :)
He is the only reason i watched the closing ceremony.
Liam to Noel " your gonna be the one that saves me and after all your my wonderwall" front of millions..
Liam sounds really good here!! Must have been amazing to see this, I didnt get to see any of the Olympics on tv..
I got so much style on stage at this moment ... amazing, it was such a great moment, because they were playing to represent Oasis. It was just like they were back ... a real dream.
I only watched the closing ceremony for this! Liam did a fantastic job singing this last night - granted he wont be sounding as good as he used to - its 17 years since it originally came out - of course he wont sound the same! This is the biggest gig he will ever have - performing wonderwall in front of the entire world as well as a full stadium. I wouldnt be surprised if he had had a drink to calm his nerves before heading on stage. I would.
Best performance of the night... Liam and Noel will always be a legend
The people defending it clearly don't think it's a 'dreadful rendition'. It's not for you to call it that nor is it for anyone else to demand that it is amazing. It's all about personal opinion mate. You think it's dreadful, fine, but it's not a fact. Personally, I think it was sung and played beautifully, and was the perfect celebration of a brilliant song that defined a lot of peoples lives.
He has been singing for 20 years and taken more drugs than your lifesaving could even afford i would like to see any of you that slate him do that and still be able to sing like this!
People think I'm crazy because I love Liam so much. I like Beady Eye way more then as Liam calls them, "Noel and his high flying smurfs" i love the cd, i love everything about it. I only watched the closing ceremony because of him. It was a great job singing Wonderwall. Liam inspires me. He's my hero
If you have to ask what makes Liam so special, it shows how young you are and how you were never an Oasis fan
You are right ;) Oasis wouldn't exist without Noel and Liam together.
How can you all have a dig about this... Liam stole the show, sounded great. Ya gotta remember nearly 20 years ago this song came out... His voice ain't the same ya gotta expect that. Legend LG
It doesn't get more British then this!
He actually sounded really bloody good
Gotta agree with that man. Even if Noel stands for most of all Oasis songs, Beady Eye still performs them the way they were originally played. That's what I want to hear, and not an acoustic Noel version. I love them all, whether it's Noel alone or Beady Eye. Oasis were my childhood and I will respect them for as long as I live.
FROM FRANCE : LIAM IS A LEGEND
I would have loved to see Noel singing with him during that closing ceremony!
It would have been amazing :')
Well done Liam that's the best you've sounded in a decade. Long may it continue. Live Forever you fucking legend.
he's a legend.
his voice was stronger in the 90,s,, blew crowds away back then, good that he's still rocking though
i was just chilling around on my sofa, when i heard this chords. i didn't read the news so i didn't know that Wonderwall was to be performed. i paid attention to this performance like to no band in a long time. I hoped really bad that noel was on stage too. I nearly cried when i realised that was just Liam. i'm sad, they'll never get back together and i'll never see my favourite band live.
Those out there, who are really really Oasis fans will understand this sadness towards the Noel's absence
Well, it's 2020. Noel and Liam say that they will be back together following the pandemic
His voice is beyond repair
underneonloneliness2 you sure?
History will be kinder to his voice.
What? It sounds similar to the actual studio track & it also sounds better than some of Oasis' performances of wonderwall, particularly the ones towards the split 07/08/09! His voice tone sounds SLIGHTLY different, simply because thats how hes singing with Beady Eye and hes crafted and moulded his voice into that particular tone, which cant just be changed overnight. Well done Liam, super performance.
Liam with Beady Eye music & song presentation @ the Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony was SPECTACULAR!
I can't wait for a 2015 WTSMG tour and Liam singing cast no shadow with his amazing voice next to his also amazing brother Noel. Long life Oasis.
Liam is, and always will be a legend.
im a live oasis die oasis fan, i own every album and sleep under a massive canvas of them above my bed, and i can happily say i thought this was fucking brilliant. loved it, just to hear him sing it again even amazies me!
Went back to the original arrangement and its the best its sounded in years. just like the recorded version, with the strings. Brilliant
This was by far the best song of the closing ceremony.
Wonderwall was never among my favourite Oasis songs, but it still fills me sadness to see what Liam is reducing it to here.
If he would have recorded his vocals in the studio, then they would have sounded right on pitch, but they don't which is fine but it proves that he was definitely singing live and not miming.
I love the 2nd half of the song, especially with the violins
Brother, I got the same impression. There´s moments Liam looks like 1995´s Liam.
Great voice and awesome interpretation.
The best brit.band after Beatles.Liam
I think his voice sounds better than it used to. It's mostly nostalgia that has so many wishing he sounded like he did years ago.
Since I live in India, I had to stay up till 1:30 in the morning to catch the opening ceremony live, then wait till 3:30 for Beady Eye's performance. However, gotta say that it was totally worth it, live forever!
I DON'T UNDERSTAND why people over the years have constantly had a go at Liam??///???
Even AT his best people were saying "OH NOEL NOEL YOU BETTER blah blah blah" Just because he didn't write OASIS' songs!!! Nobody ever criticised Bonhead And Guigsy for not writing, except LIAM HAS WRITTEN some big songs: 'Im outta time,' 'Guess God thinks i'm abel,' and 'the boy with the blues' One of the most recognisable Rock 'n' Roll voices of the past 30 years, Surely that earns some respect....!//!!
nuff said. best rock 'n' roller fo our generation.
With 1 BILLION people watching you, you'd think he would try harder!
I'll put it this way, if this was the song that came out back in the day, it wouldn't be a hit.
If Noel had sneaked on done DLBIA with Liam, I think I might have shed a little tear.
Liam is such a legend! Don't forget Noel too.
C'mon Man Cityyyyy!!
Thank you Liam for saving the night.
Fucking loved it, his voice seems a lot softer now! Great performance :D
Finally a non-biased realistic comment. Oasis fans now this is the best he's sounded for a decade.
The instruments were pre-recorded but the vocals were definitely live.
his voice sounds so good here!
THANK YOU, OASIS FOR BEING IN MY LIFE!! ♥♥♥
performance for a great,,, giving the impression of rock n roll,, make good watch
exactly mate . hit the nail on the head
absolutely agree ..they need each other
Am i the only one who thinks that this is the best live wonderwall ever?
And Liam would still be singing in bars still had Noel not taken over when he joined.
at least he can stand in the same word for more than just a second ¬¬
I think liam did a pretty good job. considering that was probably the biggest performance he will ever do, he had 10 times more stage presence than anyone and mostly stayed in tune.
LG fucking smashed it. If anyone was expecting his voice to sound like it does on an album from fucking 17 years ago, you're just weird and deluded.
Bunch of haters....first of all u can Never compare it to the studio version. This sounds better than he he has in 5-10 years
He usually screams it over electric guitars. Actually would give it a 7/10.
Really can't see how people can say "oh Liam's voice is crap" I thought he gave a great performance. Anyway his voice was never perfect in the beginning but thats what made it so damm good. It just fitted perfectley with the songs. All the 'Noel' fans who think that Noel has a better voice than Liam are clearly out of their minds. Liams voice now is better than Noel's will ever be. Liam is the singer and Noel is the writer. Thats how it is and always will be.
he hasnt always been, maybe the past 5 years, but early oasis up until the early 2000's he had a great shouting style voice
Am I the only one that thought that this was the highlight of the closing ceremony? I thought it was brilliant!
As for BDI, I really wanted to like them and they had their moments (The Beat goes on!!) but they were very Oasis-lite! Not enough good songs! As You Were though proves that Liam is a credible artist, sometimes that’s lost behind all his overtly laddish carry-on!
The original came out in 95... I think it's quite naive to assume his voice will be the same 12 years later..hundreds of live gigs smoking and drinking obviously take their toll................THATS WHAT ROCK N ROLL IS!!!!!
Oh yeah, without question! They are both fantastic on their own, but together they make an unstoppable force. I was too young to be really into Oasis like i am now when they were around. So am eagerly awaiting an Oasis reunion haha.
To the words of Acquiesce - "Because we need each other, We believe in one another..."
"Liam's voice is shit now!" Listen to this, then listen to him in 2008. He has gotten better in recent years.
Liams still good.....no matter what, beady eye or oasis-they still carry the soul of the 90s with them : )
Its the same thing with Blink fans. True fans never lose that passion. I love oasis and just am happy hed still take time to perform this song.
liam and noel should make another album together as oasis
excellent comment mate!
Mate what are you on about? I'm not a Beady Eye fan at all really, and loved Oasis, especially the early albums, but this was fantastically performed. Liams voice hasn't been this decent for about 15 years.
I found i missed Noel's backing vocals, its not the same without him stood next to his brother. I love and miss Oasis, and still keeping my fingers crossed for the day that reunion is announced.
We may choose sides when we're talking about something definite, like, whose voice we prefer, whose songs we prefer.
But overall, we have great memories about both. So, yes, I do love both. :)
i need you oasis,
not only noel or liam,
it is oasis, noel and liam!
Liam plays, Noel gets paid.
If I recall, Liam actually didn't help on various tours for various reasons - not wanting to do an American tour as he was buying a house, one time he flat out refused to ever tour America and led to the cancelling of a few gigs at the end of one of their tours. I'm not saying Noel is innocent, but I am saying that Liam certainly didn't help matters in the band.
He sounded like he had tissue up his nose or had had a massive line. NYAAAAAARRRRRRH.
Bet Noel was fucking screaming with laughter, hiding his face under pillows really embarasssed.
OASIS PLEASE OASIS OASIS OASIS. i close my eys while listening to this......... i cry. i miss oasis so bad..... so bad......
