I started in a personal TN but soon went to an A6 TN as the inserts were a little wider. After being in the A6 TN, I found there was A6 rings and about one year ago that's what I went into & I love love the size. Fits in my purse and with my rheumatoid arthritis affecting my hands the A6 is easier to lift & use. Great video B...thx!
Thanks for watching & sharing!! It really is an awesome size I love it so much! 🥰 I used to use a TN many many years ago but it always bothered me it wouldn’t lay flat , but I loved the feeling of my chic sparrow buttered rum mr darcy with all its notebooks inside!! 🥰
I’ve been a die hard fan of pocket planners since probably August and I recently tried A6 planners and let me say, I’m in love! They are both my go to sizes at the moment!
I'm glad i found this. The A6 size issue was driving me crazy. I spent the last two years in a Happy Planner Mini but it's just too big to be truly portable! I need an EDC that can hold my medical information(a information jammed section on its own), my calendars, my project plans and shopping lists. I went ahead and ordered a set of A7 6 ring inserts. But now ive seen some TN setups. But rings seem vetter for me! I actuallt have a pair of 30mm true A6 rings, and some leather that i was going to nake a planner.
I’m so happy you found this helpful! Yeah portability is something I always think of for my planners because I like to have certain info on me out and about. I currently use my pocket planner as my EDC on the go and have a6 planners that stay at some with reference info I only need at home in my office. :)
This video is a very helpful comparison of planner sizes. Its subplot is about being married to a pocket planner and feeling guilty about cheating with an A6.
Great video! I love my A6 - I have a Succes Agenda and have been in the same one since 2008!!!! I have soldered my artwork on the cover and now I'm never moving out of it. I use mine as a scrapbook, so great for punching in my own artwork; magazine clippings, art postcards and as you say, photos, also one thing I love over pocket is the page staggering you can do - what I mean is that you can also put pocket sized pages in with the A6 or collage magazine clippings and photos staggered over each other of different sizes. It makes a sort of beautiful garden and I love it! With 25mm rings I can have that art scrapbook journal thing going on and then my diary pages too. I just use Filofax personal and trim the inserts down a little
Thank you! That’s an awesome idea using it to scrap book 🥰 I love layering different sizes of things in my planners as well, adds nice texture and fun! Hahaha.
I may or may not have rewound the video and turned the sound up to try and hear the cat snoring...XD But thank you for this! I have been trying to decide what size to get because an A5 is just too big for me and this has convinced me to try the A6.
Hahahahahaha!!! This made my day reading this especially because my cat is literally snoring right next to me while I’m reading this!! Oh A6 is awesome, I hope you like it! Such a great size :)
I used to do a kind of hybrid thing - I've got a couple of Filofax Finsbury pockets that I used for a while, and they'll fit papers just shy of 14x9 cm. A6 is 15x10 cm and pocket is 12x8 cm (give or take a few mm) and I'd figured out a good in-between size that fit quite snugly in the Finsbury. I got a decently large paper size in a more compact cover, it wws great! In that same vein, some of the wider Franklin Covey pocket binders take A6 as well, though iirc they use their own hole spacing so you can't move the inserts to regular A6 binders without mangling them with double punched holes everywhere...
Oh that’s great! It’s so nice when you find something that works perfect for you then it really becomes such a help in your day to day. I like when the inserts are snug to the edge! :)
Thank you so much for this comparison! I was about to buy a VDS custom pocket widened for pocket plus inserts, but I decided to go for a custom senior after watching this. The dimensions of custom senior are just slightly bigger than the pocket, and I don't have to ask for this much changes (like widening the planner), wich to be honest makes the senior 20 mm more affordable than the pocket.
🤔 hmm watching this video has made me think an A6 will work instead of the b6,, as my current personal journal is a A6 stalogy. This has given me a lot to think about, thank you Berlynn, i have found this very helpful. :)
@@planwithbee5846 I have been watching a few videos of different sizes, your comparison with the pocket and A6 was good. every large journal i have had cut to a smaller size so i think A6 would work for me. lol i hate white space its why my personal journal is A6 and main B6 slim lol
I love looking at your videos. The problem I have with this video is now I think I have to buy the A6 planner. I do love pocket planners but I feel limited with them I think the A6 might work.
Thank you! You’re so sweet! Well I can definitely say a6 is great! One thing you can always do is try a6 inserts before you buy the planner to see if you like the space on the insert :)
I just bought an A6 from paper bound creations because it was a reasonable price to try out a new size. I know pocket is too small for me so I’m excited to try it, I eventually want to get a vds as well though not sure what leather, so many options
That’s so exciting!! I absolutely love A6. It is (to me) the perfect everyday planner. I enjoy it more than my pocket (don’t get me wrong I love pocket size but this works better for me). And yeah VDS has a tonnnnn of choices!! The janet leathers are so nice! They have videos explaining the different leathers and how vulnerable they might be to markings as well as they sell samples I believe :)
Oh absolutely! I don’t get a new planner for a new year. I just keep using what I like. But there have definitely been times I’ve swapped out sizes. Helpful hint, hold onto your forward planning inserts and anything else useful in the size you move out of just incase you decide to go back to it hahaha.
Could I ask what the next size down from an A5 rings is? The A5 is just a little too big for me, but with my bad eyes and large (and ugly!) handwriting I could never have a pocket. I want something just slightly smaller than the A5.
I would say half letter might be a good size then. It is SLIGHTLY smaller. If you want something even a smidge smaller than that perhaps a mini happy planner size or Franklin covey compact :)
You want Personal-Wide. You can get personal wide rings cover from moterm (Amazon is the best with 2 day shipping). And you can find inserts from various sellers (cloth and paper, Etsy sellers, ect. It’s smaller than A5 but bigger than A6. Look up some comparison videos or print/cut some inserts to see the sizes. Half letter is pretty much the same as A5…. It’s just a tiny bit skinnier but it’s taller.
Dominique is correct that half letter is very very close to A5, measurements just slightly differ so it may also be a little too large for what you’re looking for. Her recommendation of personal wide is also another great size! You can always print freebies from my website if you’d like in different sizes to see what insert size you prefer before making any planner purchases! Lots of freebies out there on other sites too. Hope you find your perfect planner size! 😊
I got it from Etsy from a shop called paperboundcreations. Here is their shop link to the black one (but she has more of others in her shop) www.etsy.com/listing/867671191/rings-planner-cover-black-croc-planner?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=black+croc+faux+a6+planner&ref=sr_gallery-1-11&tr_rank=17&organic_search_click=1
Hi! So INSERT sizes for these two are as follows: Mini HP: 4.6 x 7 True A6: 4.1 x 5.8 So your mini hp is larger, more so in the height. Not by too much though but enough that it could make a big difference to you. I always suggest to everyone to test free planner insert printables in various sizes so you can write on them and get familiar with their sizes if you are looking to change to a new size :) I offer freebies on my website planwithbee.com and many other creators out there have freebies too. 😊 This allows you to know for sure if you like the size before committing.
A6 inserts are 4.1 x 5.8” and personal inserts are 3.75 x 6.75”. Some places consider A6 to be personal so always check the measurements because a TRUE A6 is not the same size as personal :) Hope this helps!

Yesss! They are both just so amazing!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I ordered my pocket planner!!
Woohoo!! 🎉 So excited for you!
A6 all day!!
I have no idea what I would do without you Planner Girl! XOXO
🥰🥰🥰 Thank you!
I just set up my first ring planners B6,personal and Filofax Finsbury pocket. Pocket is my favourite right now.
So portable!! The perfect little everyday carry :)
@@planwithbee5846 it sure is and so cute ☺️
If only I could have the cuteness of my pocket, full size of a6, and portability of a9 😭 💕 love the video thx
Haha yes.. everything has its own special pros about it! Thank you so much for the kind comment 💛
Try the Pocket wide
Love this planner

Glad it was helpful 🥰 thanks!
Awesome, helpful video. I've been debating whether to try an a7 or a6. This was super helpful in trying to make that deision.
Thank you so much! So happy it helped you :)

I use a pocket ( plus ) size and it’s the Goldilocks for me🥰
That’s awesome! :) oddly enough the pocket plus is one of the only sizes I’ve never tried 😂 It looks like a great size for an every day planner!
Thank you, I'm now sold on A6. Great video, thank you for your hard work and sharing it with us.💜
Thank you so much for the kind words :) you will love a6!!! 🥰
So informative since I will be adding an a6 ring. And I’m loving the fact that you can have a Stalogy inside 💜

Thank you!! In this video it was my Van Der Spek undyed :)
I always use personal rings but A6 has intrigued me. Thanks for the video!👏

Have you ever switch in between planners in between years. 2021 is almost over and I’m thinking of going smaller. Due to covid.

It's hard to find personal wide binders or inserts! 😢
... ESPECIALLY with gold hardware. 😢
What is the name of the black croc planner and where did you get it. Look for one like this for a money savings wallet.
I got it from Etsy from a shop called paperboundcreations. Where can I get this color croc? Is it blue gray and not the gray one?
It is the gray blue from moterm. It was on Amazon back when I first got this. I’m not sure if it still is. It’s a gorgeous color!
I am currently using a HP mini, do you think its almost the same as an A6?
Hi!
So INSERT sizes for these two are as follows:
Mini HP: 4.6 x 7
True A6: 4.1 x 5.8
So your mini hp is larger, more so in the height. Not by too much though but enough that it could make a big difference to you.

Can you please tell me the size of A6 inserts and personal size inserts.
A6 inserts are 4.1 x 5.8” and personal inserts are 3.75 x 6.75”. Some places consider A6 to be personal so always check the measurements because a TRUE A6 is not the same size as personal :) Hope this helps!
