    With all do respect, those were some strange hand signs making that hook. But still a cool video..

      Ha…I rewatched the video and I see what you mean. I’m guessing whatever gets it done. They are definitely getting more organized / professional in their operation but part of what makes this line so great is it’s smallness and that it’s not yet fully formed.

    What ever happened to the number 5 S,R&R
    L engine that lived in Connecticut in a shed on Alice R,s property?

    Is that the original Carrabassett parlour car at 9.05?

    • @HuwJones
      @HuwJones  3 роки тому +1

      No. This was the SR&RL’s parlor car No. 9, Rangely which was not as fancy as the Carrabasset I believe.

      @HuwJones  Рік тому

      yes...some of the old stuff came up from edaville. most of it is original to the Maine lines back in the day and that made it's way down to edaville. thanks for watching and commenting.

      Tickets are cheap. Just show up! Or you can just hang around the depot like I often do just watching the trains come and go 😊

    If a millionaire wanted to build one of these do you know how much the carts would cost and cost of building the rail per mile?

    • @HuwJones
      @HuwJones  Рік тому +1

      Based on the Appleton Survey done in 1878 for the SR&RL a number of $1500 per mile was estimated. Counting for inflation that's in the range of $50k per mile in todays money. Those early estimates were notoriously inaccurate.

      @@HuwJones Well if you had like a million or 2 set aside for building a railway, and you are a big railway nerd, and a milionare, you probably have some land or something, you could build a quite extravagant little narrow gauge railway, with a track lenght of however much fits on your land, and buy several engiens and a few cars
