A great little town to visit! Right on Route 2 - the Mohawk Trail
Peaceful town!❤
Yes...even on a beautifully sunny Saturday in August the town was quiet.
I glimpsed Julia!
The entrance atrium looks very impressive
I like Blue Grass music. I don’t like seats in the carriage that run the length of the carriage. I can’t look out easily.
Nice fish, hope you had a great day on the water.
Beautiful trains. Visit Maine every year. Have to plan a stop to see this
That was a nice surprise.
My son is special needs and he really likes antiques like traction engines they remind him of Trevor from The Railway Series stories and Thomas and Friends.
What contrast between the desolate coastal strip and then the luxuriant growth behind the protection of the walled garden. Very interesting.
Ha! You probably got your feet wet running along the shoreline.

The gentleman’s face looks familiar, I thought I heard the name Gareth? I believe he may be Emlyn Jones, Carnetown school teachers son?
Yes indeed....it is Gareth Jones and I'm his son, Huw !
@@HuwJones, I haven’t seen your dad for over fifty years, but his face still looked familiar. I was in the same class as Nesta. They were a lovely family. Best wishes to you all. Roger.
Very nice video
Can I join to play?
Tickets are cheap. Just show up! Or you can just hang around the depot like I often do just watching the trains come and go 😊
Every thing about the Mount Washington Cog Railway and Race the Train looks a challenge. The steam locomotives are unlike any other locomotive. Even the design of the modern diesels is unique. And the “path” you have to climb to get to the summit looks positively dangerous. Total concentration is needed for the entire run. Well done.
Ahhh such precious times <3
I missed this one when you posted it. Lovely scenery.
Gorgeous!
Block Junction's A3 instructions continue to sell really well
I really liked this build...hoping to give the GWR Hall Class and some Pullman coaches a go next. The parts list and build instructions worked perfectly...I had zero pieces left over.
👍
Good video but sound quality poor!
Awesome train
I’ve got some G scale models I’m slowly making that I’ll demo later this year and I’ve got a number of Lego trains that I should post some videos on…
@@HuwJones is this navigating R1 curves?
@@paulstrains91 It's No.1100 R=600mm...reading off the backside of the sleepers. I think that 's R1 right? Just learning now that that means 1st radius!
@@HuwJones yeah R1 is the tightest radius you can go I just didn't know if this was our one that it was navigating or not
@@paulstrains91 yup it has no problem at all with the curve
Wow, very nice stroll through through farm. Thanks, I enjoyed watching! 😀
oh wow didn't expect 7 back so soon, thought she was going to portland? great video!
I would like a ride on this train
The WW&F is kind of like the Maine Two Footers have gone to Heaven! -they rarely looked this prosperous in their original lifetimes.
Though I'm just realizing now that they've changed the switch/turnout controls to these raised wooden affairs. I think that's happened quite recently. I will have to investigate and report on it. I suspect it has been mentioned in the recent newsletter.
I was there on the same day! Nice video!
That looked cold. Only a true railway fan would go for a trip in such cold weather, but the snow gives the railway a different appearance.
No heating on the train...well only inside the locomotive cab area! The station bathrooms were nice and warm too. They probably need to install some oil heating on the water tower too...I'm sure something could be done there to stop the freezing...even a basic fire/flue should keep the thing ice-free. But there's a lot going on right now at the Sheepscot Station what with the platform being rebuilt.
I was also there that day and I can confirm that 11 degrees in a non heated train car isn’t the best feeling in the world. But that bon fire up at SeaLyon Farm was something else! I don’t know what they were burning in that thing but it was good!
Very cool video! The manual turntable is awesome, also nice shot inside the passenger cars. Looks cool! 😀
The turntable is awesome...there's another one at the new, far-end of the line. I got to help out turning a loco last year on that one which was a lot of fun. Such a great organization....well worth a visit if you can.
Great show. I went both days and know I didn’t see everything.
Very nice train show video! I am new to your channel and I just subscribed 😀 thanks for sharing 👍
I was there Saturday 1-28-23. Your footage presented is well done and professional.
This looked a really good show. The layouts were big enough to have realistically long trains. A very nice video.
This looks 100% fantastic. Great video work of this show at Amherst 2023 I wish i had been there. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎥 🚦🚦🚦🚦🚦 🛤🛤🛤🛤🛤
Thanks Harold, it was a last minute decision for me plus a 1h 40m drive each way for me too....glad I did it...one of the biggest shows of this kind I've been to in North America. Regards.
Heart attack in the making!
No no...you just have to go slow enough not to overload your heart. And might just mean walking/ power-hiking! It was a wonderful experience 😁
Very interesting to see the new Green Line extension. It shows just how much construction is needed and how expensive it is to build a railway line in an existing built up area. I was impressed by the quality of the construction. The stations are really well built and clearly they are designed to cope with large number of passengers. The two car units look slightly out of place but I presume peak hour trains are six cars. Good to see that graffiti has already appeared on the bare concrete retaining walls!
An awful lot of poured concrete! I’d image the Tufts station will get very heavy traffic. There are some super-sets coming…traditionally all green line trains have been just two cars I think…this may have had something to do with the road running but I suspect this has been resolved.
Another reason why it took 4 men to turn #7 is that is has been lengthened, shortened, dropped and one of the ring rails doesn't match the others
Would you mind explaining what a ring rail is? I'm not sure I know in this context. Thanks for your comment.
@@HuwJones the ring rail is the tail under the turntable
@@Emerald-764 thank-you! makes sense.
Very interesting. All the railway infrastructure looks “Scandinavian” in its simplistic, functional design. The station platforms are more European than American in design. I was surprised how built up the entire route was. All those road crossings are a nightmare for safety on a fast rail route. I don’t think they would be allowed in Europe.
Yes...simple, clean design. Ticketing is all online or using kiosks/terminals in the station that basically have the same website/app. A lot of security everywhere. The entire eastern seaboard from Miami to West Palm Beach (and above) is built up. Very little natural undeveloped land left by the coast....and the same goes all the way up to Cape Canaveral. Around Vero Beach where I was staying it's a lot less built up but still urbanized.
Just read this about Vero Beach..."coastal town known for its highest concentration of retired CEOs and the fourth highest number of wealthy households, Vero Beach is the secret paradise occupied by the fortunate few." Typical that that is where I chose to go!
Those rail crossings would be allowed in Europe and they do exist at these speeds. The US allows for level crossings for speeds up to 110 MPH (111-124 'impenetrable barriers, 125+ no crossings). Here's a TGV crossing. ua-cam.com/video/5TW2pQf4SC8/v-deo.html
@@Ven100 That wouldn't be allowed in the UK. And the crossing barriers were only half barriers! Dozens of road and pedestrian crossings are being removed each year in the UK as they are proving to be so dangerous as drivers and pedestrians try to "jump" the traffic lights at level crossings. Some crossings even have a person stationed at the crossing to stop illegal crossings taking place (eg at Exeter St David's station). Level crossings also need high levels of maintenance and are costly to service.
@@toniderdon I am looking forward to returning in 2023 and hopefully riding the full length from Orlando to Miami!
If a millionaire wanted to build one of these do you know how much the carts would cost and cost of building the rail per mile?
Based on the Appleton Survey done in 1878 for the SR&RL a number of $1500 per mile was estimated. Counting for inflation that's in the range of $50k per mile in todays money. Those early estimates were notoriously inaccurate.
@@HuwJones Well if you had like a million or 2 set aside for building a railway, and you are a big railway nerd, and a milionare, you probably have some land or something, you could build a quite extravagant little narrow gauge railway, with a track lenght of however much fits on your land, and buy several engiens and a few cars
Great video! Really nice shots.
With all do respect, those were some strange hand signs making that hook. But still a cool video..
Ha…I rewatched the video and I see what you mean. I’m guessing whatever gets it done. They are definitely getting more organized / professional in their operation but part of what makes this line so great is it’s smallness and that it’s not yet fully formed.
That looked. Lovely trail and a perfect day to run along it. How far was it?
A little over 5 miles my friend. So many leaves down it made footing a little dangerous.
cool trip friend...great captures....nice vdo...greetings from India!!!
The Maine 2 Footers are awesome trains.
Very cool locomotive😉👍️✨Beautiful scenery😃⤴️⤴️Excellent video :)
I enjoyed this walk. Beautiful weather and an interesting island with a long history.
