  • Only the second official recruiting film for the ACF in over 100 years! Basically the training content is much as it has been since the last film in 1945, but the methods of delivery have changed dramatically and more Service to the Community, included.

In 1983 /4 I joined the Purdown cadets.
    Lt Lewis was in charge.
Segt Cynthia , can’t remember her last name.
Other people also Sue, Friday but along time ago.
Had a look on google but it doesn’t exist anymore 😢
Back then it was just A,B,C and D company.
    We were B.
We also had a band , in speedwell. I played the lyre and bugle.
    It was a great time!!!
Very glad it’s all still going.

My detachments were in Stowmarket and Felixstowe and then at the Royal Wansted school Wanstead / Snaresbrook E.11.

Such a shame about the sound well anyway this is how I learned to be a cadet and the 60's - 70's was my group I may have met some of these guys and have been paced against them in war games at Aldershot camp etc

I just recall being cold, wet and having to put up with thick, uneducated adults. My father warned me. But it did prepare me to enter the TA years later.

Always have - don’t know why! I was a cadet 1969-74 and it used to annoy me then. I still see the cadets parading today at my local ARC and they still do that little crouch when turning, halting and coming to attention.
