I've been over to Mallorca 5 times total in last 2 years cycling(holidays with wife but I snuck a few rides in each time). Yes it can be really busy. I did Formentor last Sept and it was rammed with cyclists, cars, motorbikes, inline skaters, you name it they were on road. I also went end Oct and it was really quiet(comparatively). Alcudia and Port Pollensa are basically the centre of cycling hub there so always more cyclists in that area. We stayed at Palmanova 2 weeks ago and I cycled from there on different routes up to mountains and it was quiet. Very much depends upon where you stay and time of year. No doubt though, it can be busy.
Assume you ladies are triathletes what with the running and swimming. Good call on wetsuits as when we were there couple weeks ago the water was freezing!
Advantage of Mallorca for cycling is it's short flight from UK, loads of cycle hire places etc so its easy. Apparently mainland Spain much quieter but equally as good for cycling but I've not tried there yet.

Hi Steve! Thanks for the info - that’s all really interesting. It was really busy but we still loved it!
I was actually cycling on mainland Spain the week before this video was made and you can watch that one here for a comparison - much quieter!! Cycling Estepona, Spain - Beautiful but seriously hilly!

@@prettygritty Hi, yes I just watched that. 7000ft in 46miles is hilly! I always say 1000ft per 10 miles is a hilly ride but anything more is going some. Hope you had some easy gears. I'll definitely look into Estepona area. Did you take bikes or hire there? Just wondering on bike hire etc in area.

@@stevedouglas3975 we hired them from a decent shop and they were really helpful with plotting routes. www.eltourmalet.com/ would definitely recommend them.

It's absolutely true, you were in the busy bit, and the busy time. Great riding up there, but plenty would tell you that the riding at the other end of the mountains is better, more varied, more routes and much much quieter. I live in Andratx and staying in somewhere like Peguera is a similar resort, close to the mountains. Enjoy.
