Yes, as much as I lived my childhood, growing up with a Cuban family and having to go to my catholic church next door.... I remember my mom always taking a million years doing everything. Whether it was getting dressed, going to public bathrooms, saying goodbye at parties or praying in church, or God forbid, shopping for hours on end. I remember how much of a torture it was to be forced to go with my mom to do anything. I'd spend most of my childhood and teen years just dying to be over 18 so I could escape that.

That's the truth! Catching the holy spirit with the older ladies fainting and everyone running to fan them. Church lasted about 4 hours. And then we had to go back at 4 for the evening service. But the feeling can't be matched 🥰

I hated going to church because I always did my homework on Sundays. And my Mom didn't leave us bring it to service. Then, when church finishes, we don't even go straight home. She wants to do to Target, Dollar Tree, or Walmart, to see what's on clearance. Knowing damn well, she is going to end up buying random stuff. By the time we get home it's already 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Not gonna lie, I be cursing under my breath, the when she ask me "What you say?." I always say, "I was praying."😭😂

I wasn’t while young, but I felt that though. we can get it now as mature adults and as musicians. like, you think it’s over, then boom, either they didn’t hear us, or we really felt that though! then don’t get it started when the song ends and the spirit get real high. had that happen plenty times in my life! even when young, I was a mix on that one. my self that didn’t get it at all was like, come on let’s get this over with, but then the musician side was like,, alright, the band finna go off, lock in! my home church did that pretty good, they kinda got off at parts, but then got back on, my mom church, now that’s a whooooooooole different story sista! once the band locked, they locked! best times you really felt that was new year’s eve near midnight!

One of the few things I used to hate about going to church with my ex-wife. I was the only white dude in the church....and once the sermon ended I was like "Whelp...praise the Lord. I'm gonna head out" the rest of the church would look at me like I was a heathen.
Sorry I’d b gone at 1. But that’s jus cuz our last service(cuz we have 3 on Sunday mornings)under normal circumstances, starts at 11:15, and usually ends by 1...at the latest. So if they start goin past that and I feel my own spirit lose focus cuz the good message starts to veer off, and they’re jus rambling, I have to go😣cuz I won’t b listening anymore and jus thnkn of wut I shld fix for dinner or wut bills I need to pay🤦🏾♀️
I be mad when my parents see someone they know but then I also remember I have like 2 friends and it makes me happy seeing them socializing outside of family and it’s super nice.
This is an important thing to remember. Church is also a community and its good to maintain it. The problem is keeping the kids waiting too long when they are small and hungry or swamped with homework or with low blood sugar or something.

My church did that at the beginning and it always felt so fake. All people really did was go around and shake hands with whoever and immediately go to the next person. My brother and I actually turned it into a game of who could get the most people before everybody returns to their seats
This had me in tears and gave me flashbacks. My first time visiting another church with a friend that got out in an hour I thought something was wrong they sang three songs and gave out a snack and we was done. I took that same friend to our church we sang one song that lasted an hour and snack turned into supper by the time service was over. Lol.

We always finish the sermon and then we ask questions and get into another sermon for another hour, then we chat for another hour and then we start walking and then stand for another hour. Oh Lord!!

One of the few things I used to hate about going to church with my ex-wife. I was the only white dude in the church....and once the sermon ended I was like "Whelp...praise the Lord. I'm gonna head out" the rest of the church would look at me like I was a heathen.

Sorry I’d b gone at 1. But that’s jus cuz our last service(cuz we have 3 on Sunday mornings)under normal circumstances, starts at 11:15, and usually ends by 1...at the latest. So if they start goin past that and I feel my own spirit lose focus cuz the good message starts to veer off, and they’re jus rambling, I have to go😣cuz I won’t b listening anymore and jus thnkn of wut I shld fix for dinner or wut bills I need to pay🤦🏾♀️

I be mad when my parents see someone they know but then I also remember I have like 2 friends and it makes me happy seeing them socializing outside of family and it’s super nice.
This is an important thing to remember. Church is also a community and its good to maintain it. The problem is keeping the kids waiting too long when they are small and hungry or swamped with homework or with low blood sugar or something.

My church did that at the beginning and it always felt so fake. All people really did was go around and shake hands with whoever and immediately go to the next person. My brother and I actually turned it into a game of who could get the most people before everybody returns to their seats

My first time visiting another church with a friend that got out in an hour I thought something was wrong they sang three songs and gave out a snack and we was done. I took that same friend to our church we sang one song that lasted an hour and snack turned into supper by the time service was over. Lol.
