I was very naive about how I expected my breastfeeding journey to go. I had every intention of breastfeeding exclusively and on demand. My baby girl is 1 month old and I've fed her from my breast only a handful of times.
This compounded with baby blues has been very difficult to manage, and although I'm in a better place now that my hormones have stabilized, I find myself grieving from time to time.
My best advice, work with a lactation consultant, stay hydrated, and remember supply and demand is the greatest contributor to establishing your milk production.
Lastly, if pumping, be sure to get a session in overnight. Between midnight and 6am on average is when we produce the highest levels of prolactin. This will be a big help in getting your milk to increase. Learned that gem of advice from my IBCLC.
Best wishes to all of you mamas out there. ❤️

I’m watching this video like I’m pregnant or have a newborn. I have a 3yr old and I breastfed her for 21 months. One thing that you said was, after she nursed you could only pump 1oz. That’s perfectly normal. That means she emptied both breast. If she didn’t nurse and you just exclusively pumped, I guarantee you would’ve pumped at least 3-4oz.
I’m one of those 1% who tried the cookies, those pills, drinks and the cookies and brownies by that same lactation company. None of those things worked for me. I returned back to work when my baby was 4mo and I would pump every few hours while at work so she would have milk for the next day. I never produced enough milk to have an overflow but I was always able to pump enough where she wasn’t hungry.
Breastfed babies don’t drink as much as formula fed babies. Like, my baby never drank more than 3oz of milk from a bottle. I say alllll of that to say, you’re more than enough and don’t stress or obsesses yourself with a milk supply. Your milk changes as your baby grows so you’ll find yourself with a large stash of milk that’s different from what your body produces now. I hope that makes sense. Your milk will get fattier and more golden in color as your baby girl grows.
Don’t stress. You’re doing a great job and you got this.

Thank you for your advice. Daughter just got out of nicu and has pretty much used up all that I had produced when she was in there since we have been home. I will nurse her more and pump after! I just need to figure out how she’ll let me pump 😅

Breastfeeding is the best thing I’ve done for my son! He will be 9 months on the 24th, still breastfed. It’s def not the easiest thing and very time consuming but I feel it’s the best choice for my son. It’s a blessing to be able to breastfeed. I encourage everyone to at least try.

YOU DOING GOOOODDDTTTT ! Greatest advice to give momma! Congratulations again & welcome to mommyhood. Wishing you nothing but the best in your new life of MOMPRENUERSHIP! I had 3 babies vaginally & my supply didn’t come until 12-24+ hours later. I just kept doing skin to skin & letting them nurse. Their saliva & suction on the nipple triggers the release of prolactin hormones. The body naturally communicates with the baby to know how much the body should produce for the baby, even when baby is sick, the body increases the antibodies necessary to heal the baby. When using things to increase milk supply, be careful because it can make your breast sore in long run & pumping too much can leave nipples raw and have swollen/ blocked milk ducts. 4 bottles of water is half a gallon, I aim for half at least and shoot for 8 bottles a day. Breastmilk is 90% water and 10% fat. I had 2 unassisted home births & my last was a hospital birth. My 3rd baby started cluster feeding around 12 hours old and that bought in a increase in my milk. He nursed every hour on the hour. My daughter started cluster feeding around 20 hours old. I was concerned that all my placenta didn’t come out reason why my milk didn’t come in immediately but I was fine. My first born, my milk came in the next day but we both slept the first day away and he cluster fed! He was born 9 pounds, by 3 weeks he had 3 growth spurts weighing 13 pounds and grew a inch and a half. He was 15 pounds by the time he was 1. Trust your body to do exactly what needs to be done, c-section or not. It is the physical representation of god and does exactly what it’s supposed to. I’m a herbalist and holistic birth and postpartum doula, offering prenatal support as well. Herbs like nettle leaf, alfalfa, & fennel are great for increasing milk supply. I used fenugreek and it helped to, some women say it stopped their supply. This won’t be the last time you experience her having a growth spurt & needing more milk. Eat foods like chic peas, flax seeds, kale oatmeal, almond milk & Irish moss. Also, your body is still trying to regulate hormones wise, keep taking your prenatal vitamins. Include maca root in your diet. Irregular hormones can lead to postpartum alopecia, stress and most cases pp depression. & one last thing, eat 3x more calories so you can keep your energy. Get lots of sleep to regulate stress levels. Your doing a great job momma! For your first baby you got the game down pack! Your angel is beautiful (she’s look just like her daddy) Dont hesitate to contact me when you need to. I make herbal prenatal & postpartum vitamins with grade A quality sea vegetables. Now let’s celebrate..SIS YOU DOING A GOOD JOB, SIS YOU DOING A GOOD JOB!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

My 2 baby I took a better route for my self and it was a lot more relaxed and I decided NOT to try all the cookies and teas and fenugreek and supplement but insteadput baby to the breast and use a Hakka on the breast he wasn't nursing and it made a HELL of a difference FOR ME. I decided to pump 1 or 2x a day and let him nurse all the other times and surprisingly I was able to build a stash that he was able to use well after 12 months.

Your baby is beautiful. Well this was encouraging. I had to have my baby girl at 35 weeks and we had to stay in nicu for 2 weeks. I used that mother's milk in previous pregnancies and that was all I used. But this one..... way different and I guess since she was taken from me right after birth she had been rejecting direct feeding. So I drank that tea and I was pumping out so so so much milk. Got home and end up getting nipple shield shaped like a bottle for her to direct feed and I stopped pumping and this milk has decreased drastically. Then my dang nipples cracked.... currently using mothers milk, goats rue herbal tea, and a supplement. Going to be trying to stay consistent with trying to get her to latch and this power pumping. I know that was a lot but I read comments and being a mommy is hard. We ALL NEED SUPPORT!!!!

I guess planned C-section is different. I was numb only from below my chest down and I did skin to skin immediately after she was out. My boyfriend and the nurses took turns holding my baby against my cheek and I breastfeed as soon as I was back in the postpartum room. The first 48hrs after the birth you only get colostrum which is your first milk, very important and it’s just literally drops.
Breastfeeding is hard, even for experienced moms like me (on my third baby now). Don’t get discouraged, keep trying, do your best but be at peace if you have to feed with formula. With that said, all these videos about increasing milk supply are just maybe helpful for your mindset. I watched tons but I realized these cookies, and tea and other stuff is just unnecessary. I got nervous when I figured I wasn’t making enough but after trying all kinds of products, I remembered it takes time, water and eating well to produce the necessary milk for my baby. Don’t stress yourself out. It will be close to a month before you start seeing an increase in your milk supply. Be patient with yourself and know your body will do it’s thing. ❤

I’m so glad that you are here to give information to a lot of new moms. I agree with you on the fact as long as the baby is being fed that’s all that matters. If a person can breastfeed it is a really good choice. I’ve breast-feed my daughter for a year and a half. And she didn’t even get a cold until she was about three or four years old. The benefits are amazing. It’s hard at first but you have to get that colostrum out , then the milk just comes. ❤️❤️

I truly enjoyed ur video. I'm currently 25 weeks today & I've been spending time looking for things to help me make sure I have a good milk supply for my baby girl. I didn't have any problems with producing milk with my two sons but I ended up giving them formula. When u said that u r gonna make ur own baby food that made me smile so much cause I'm gonna do that as well. Now I'm even more secure with my decisions on the things I want to do for my milk supply since I saw the things u use. Thanks for this video & ur input. Btw ur daughter is so precious & beautiful.

Mine was latching as soon as I had him (csection). Doc fearmongered me and convinced me to “supplement” with formula. When I did that, baby did not want to latch anymore. I am almost 4 months and pumping less than 1 oz for both. Not giving up. I am still producing SOME milk- which is HOPE. I WILL get my supply up. I will try some of your tips.

My son is 1mo old and breastfeeding is challenging mainly because my son is super greedy( I use formula as a supplement & he drinks an 8oz bottle with ease & doesn’t spit it up after burping lol) and I’m definitely not making enough for him. I felt bad as a mom because I want my baby fed & full. I appreciate you & this video so much!♥️

    • @kaliyahball415

Just here to be informative, I mean no harm at all.. I breastfed 2 babies.. your body will definitely produce enough milk for him if you keep him at the breast, even if it seems like he just ate. Our breast milk is thinner than formula so babies digest it extremely quickly, resulting in them eating more. Your milk supply increases the more you put him to the breast, so if you supplement with formula those times your body feels like he doesn’t need the milk which will decrease your supply. Keep pumping and feeding as much as possible and eventually your body will know exactly how much your baby wants. You’re doing great 🤍

I just want to add that c section moms are able to do skin to skin right after they pull the baby out. I just had my son in June and they put him on my chest right after wiping him down and measuring him. Things are steadily changing so i just want to put that out there for someone else that may be a c section mom. Don’t be discouraged!

Beautiful mom and baby! I made my own lactation cookies from scratch! natural is best. I feel you on the formula. my thing is why are they giving babies similac in the hospital after that quiet commercial for the similac lawsuit? that was my motivation as well. I barely slept. my daughter was in the NICU for a week. she is on oxygen and has pulmonary hypertension 😔
I decided since everything is being recalled because of poison or whatever they putting in food ...I decided to try to make everything from scratch and try natural stuff to increase milk supply. one thing I was told is that it's best to get up between 3a-6a to pump. It is difficult. my milk is slowly starting to increase! Get it girl🥰🥰🥰🥰

I was like you, I always new I wanted to breastfeed. I had my baby boy in September and I almost asked for formula because I thought my baby was not getting any milk from my breast because I was not seeing any milk. Also the midwife told me that my baby had lost weight but she said that was normal for babies that are only breast fed. My baby is 5 weeks and am seeing more milk and he has gained weight however breastfeeding is still not easy and am finding it hard to express. Being a new mum is not easy but I would not change it for anything in this world especially when you have gone through the lost of a child and miscarriage. I pray that God makes it easy to those who are in the same situation and are trying, God bless.

OMG I needed this video you don't know how many times I got discouraged because my milk supply was so low and see my baby when he was born he went straight to the NICU and then from there had to have emergency surgery so I wasn't around my baby on the first week he was born when. So when I finally saw my baby I made sure I pumped and I pumped and I pumped again and at first I can produce like maybe 50 ml. I'm still struggling now because he is still in the hospital and I still pump at night but waking up every 2 to 3 hours is so exhausting and I got discouraged because I didn't know what to do I tried. I drink the body armor and I have to admit sometimes I do forget to eat because my days be so full and the time just get away from me. But I'd still continue to pump even though it's very little very little but it means something.

Nothing has worked for me for all those supplements. What am learning is to eat well (constantly) and hydrate for your body to feel good and if you reduce stress; your body can make milk. Removing it (breastfeeding & pumping) often signals the body to make more. Good luck to us mamas!

That brand Legendary Milk is the truth!!!! Mommies if you feel it worked at first but then stopped you just need to up how many times you take it and you can mix it up too. I’m taking liquid gold, pumping princess and milkapalooza. So what I’m doing right now is I take two pumping princess and two milkapalooza (the milkapalooza is more of a nourishment for your milk). Then around noon to four hours later I take liquid gold and milkapalooza, same dose as before. Then I take the first round again about mid evening. Then again before bed. My baby will be two months on the 28th of March and I am exclusively breastfeeding.
