It's naptime on the Boreal Valley. All the spider women down in the sewers, the magically transformed citizens, even the afflicted and ill fire witches, all of them have fallen asleep. Their bodies, limp and cold, silent and utterly left on the ground, untended. Curiously, an unkindled accursed undead walks through, his blade seemingly making every pontiff knight go to soundly sleep on the ground. He even tries to make the mighty pontiff have a nap, but it backfires and the pontiff makes them sleep instead. Fear not, my dear child, no one wants to hurt you. It's just naptime on the Boreal Valley.
The sound design in this series is absolutely impeccable, each area is so distinct. Despite the typical _Dark Souls_ hospitality I felt somewhat cozy in Irithyll (well, except for anywhere in the vicinity of those terrifying demon dog-crocodile things). If I only we built our cities with such consistent and uncompromising beauty! Honestly I could listen to these ambient soundscapes all day long; there's something simultaneously relaxing and unsettling about them. Amazing channel my friend - I've never experienced ASMR or anything like that, but I love ambient sounds and music so you've earned yourself another subscriber! I've found there's one particular location where the ambient soundtrack is quite ominous and mysterious - in that strange little transitional zone between Farron Keep and the Cathedral, just before the archway beyond which some hollow crossbowmen and their iirksome dogs are skulkling. My pet theory is that what you hear in that location is the sound of an underground "aquifer" of the Deep itself welling up towards the surface, which it ultimately does in the form of that small, black, utterly motionless lake that's overlooked by a dead-end balcony inside the Cathedral (the one that's down a staircase guarded by a solitary Evangelist). If you love the atmospherics of this game, I recommend checking that spot out! xD
