Didn't expect such a huge difference between Bluetooth and the receiver. And also didn't expect the internal GoPro mic to sound this good on close proximity. I really like your review style, thanks for the video
Great comparison test and appreciate the effort taken to do this. You did mention that with the bluetooth connection option, there's no need to buy the full DJI Mic2 system thus saving around $250 but to add to that, no need to buy the media mod as well and less heat issues too without using the enclosed media mod. That in itself is very enticing and worth compromising a little on the audio quality for me at least.
@@ttl_channel oh that would be awesome.. can't wait for that. Gotta be honest that it's disappointing GoPro did not include the new magnetic mount with the Hero 13 purchase. I understand it's a business but just feel like they are going in the wrong direction. With all the new lens mods plus media mod plus magnetic mount, that is one hefty purchase of close or even over $1,000 and that does not include buying an extrenal mic yet.. gosh!
Nice. I use a GoPro Hero 12 with the protective case mounted to a helmet. External wires really aren't an option and the wind noise drowns out everything over 20 mph. I was looking for something that would connect without wires and can easily be mounted behind the fairing just above the speedometer. I'm just looking to grab the ambient noise, not trying to be the next famous Motorcycle Vlogger. This was a really nice demonstration and was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
Hero 12 has some connection issues, but keep in mind, another option is to just record to the stand-alone mic and sync them up in your editing software.
In theory, yes, but as mentioned in the video, I have heard a lot of complaints from H12 users about it. I don’t own an H12, so unfortunately I can’t test it.
Thank you so much for creating this helpful video. I need to start recording my dance classes and I am considering the full setup. I teach over loud music while I am dancing / demoing movement. From your outdoor demo I could still hear the birds in the background which is great but I am still a bit concerned about the sound quality with so much going on. Would you or anyone in this chat happen to have any opinions about this? Btw, how is the battery life for the 13? Does it last at least two hours? Thanks again!
You may want to check this video out also: ua-cam.com/video/O9REdB3FqEI/v-deo.html If an external mic is a key factor for you, the DJI Action 5 Pro is a great choice. The battery life is also amazing and it will be better than a GoPro in low-light/artificial light.
I have not done that specifically, but given that the Volta plugs into the USB and DJI mic to the 3.5mm jack (on the media mod), there’s no reason it would be an issue.
Really Nice Video. Wonder what i should do now. I hav dji mic 1 single mic and receiver. Should i get mic 2 full set or just 1 mic ? Whould i buy bedian mod just and use with mic 1 i have. 🤔🤔🤔
hi, when you use quick capture on the GoPro , does the mic 2 connect straight away, or is there a delay ? just watched your ace pro 2 video and that camera took a good 15 seconds to connect , Thanks
Nice video. Does the 13 connect to a Bluetooth mic if you use the QuickCapture function (i.e just pressing the record button to turn on and start recording)?
@@ttl_channel thanks I was looking at that camera too so I’ll keep an eye on that. It would be interesting to see how the Action 5 works with 3rd party mics.
hello, i have gopro12blk and dji mic2 but it wont bluetooth connect at All? it keeps trying to pair but screen shows it is trying to connect little circle keeps on spinning and does not confirm connected...? i dont think it works bluetooth connects w/dji mic2.
Thanks a lot. Just wondering if you have tested the bluetooth connection when using the Gopro in quick start mode where it starts recording as soon as you turn it on with the record button? Is there any delay in the connection with the mic or will it connect as soon as the camera is on and allow sound recording right away?
Let me get this straight...if I connect receiver to GoPro media mod....I'm getting two mics (channels) plus the mic on media mod (channel) for a total of three channels?

Thanks for watching.
Great vid, I have to agree the GoPro audio has gotten a lot better if it are close to it
Thanks for watching!

Excellent points. I will be doing a similar video for the new DJI Action 5 (as soon as I receive it), which should be very interesting.

best comparison. I am your regular audience. keep up your good work.
Thanks, will do!
Great test with very clear results. Thank you.
Thank you!
Very well done video, sir. I'm charging my DJI mic set for the first time as I type and just ordered a 13 Black to go with it. Keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching.
Should of just ordered the osmo action 5
Great video, very informative thanks, I use a moto vlog setup so gonna look at changing to this configuration
Glad it was helpful!
Easy to follow and clear enough! Thanks
You're welcome!
Hello,
Nice video and thank you,
when you say to plug in the at 3:38 the 3half cable? where did you get this one?
I think that one came with another microphone I purchased.

It's impossible to watch because of the high pitch hum. The fact that this video reviews different microphone setups makes it even more sound.
It's a challenge because I don't hear it. Will try to fix. Thanks for watching.
@@ttl_channelyou lose that frequency as you get older. We used to have those ringers on our phones back in school and teachers couldn't hear it haha
Just consider to buy a dji mic for my GoPro 13, then I found your video. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
Awesome in-depth video! Do you know if the Bluetooth connection works with the GoPro Hero 12 the same way as 6:50 ?
In theory, yes, but as mentioned in the video, I have heard a lot of complaints from H12 users about it. I don’t own an H12, so unfortunately I can’t test it.
That’s exactly the set up I’m planning to use. Thanks for the test. Would please also show us examples how HLG HDR works on GoPro 13?
Thanks for watching. I will try to do something with the HLG shortly.

@ Thank you so much!!
Hi great explanations, now, do you know if you can connect t any bluetooth microphone directly to camera , not just the dji .
I believe any BT microphone, but I don’t have others to test.
Just curious if you’ve used the receiver with both mics setup connected to a Volta?
I have not done that specifically, but given that the Volta plugs into the USB and DJI mic to the 3.5mm jack (on the media mod), there’s no reason it would be an issue.
Helped me ALOT!!!!

I hav dji mic 1 single mic and receiver.
Should i get mic 2 full set or just 1 mic ?

Tough call - bluetooth is fine in most cases, but no question that using the receiver gets you better quality, range and options.

Sorry, quick capture does not automatically connect the mic.
can you test if quick capture work on both method. want to use it on motor holiday trips . regards wouter

No, when a microphone (or microphone receiver) is plugged into the media mod, the onboard mics are disabled.
does the media mod microphone also record when using an external mic
I do not think so, but I will check and confirm.
You need to narrate audio books! I could hear you reading a Harry Potter book or Lord of the Rings book.
When they offer me the job, I will take it!
The bluetooth sound quality is really bad. I guess rhode lavalier is still the best option.
Have not tried that one. Thanks for sharing.
