The plant - a palm you used as a fan is called Licuala Mapu . It is sought after by Exotic Plant collectors and is sold at quite an expensive price during the Pandemic.

Thanks for sharing this fact!!! It looks like Naomi had an expensive fan in her hands without knowing it... 😂😊

I think you really did your research. The elephant are frequently seen around Maliau Basin and Kalabakan. You two are fun. Even in the jungle you know how to enjoy yourself.❤

Hello Will. I’m planning to go there. As you mentioned your trip was organised. How did you go about that? Did you have an agent to take care of that? We are a family of 3 and would like free and easy, and setup tent at the Belian Campground.

Hey! Thx for your message. we went there independently with a rental car. We couldn’t camp as it was the elephants season and it was too dangerous. I’d recommend to contact the MBCA beforehand to organise treks as you need to book in advance.

If in Sabah there is an area called Maliau, in North Kalimantan there is an area called Malinau which is directly adjacent to the state of Sarawak.

@Your Travel Buddy Will correction. Borneo lowland jungle is 140m years old. Peninsula jungle is 130m years old. Making Malaysia having the oldest tropical rainforest in the world. While the oldest rainforest it in queensland daintree.

I think during the ice age, sea level was low. This allowed animals and humans to migrate from Asia to Borneo. I doubt elephants are from java.
