I think why people like it is because its familiar but different at the same time its like playing a game you like with mods or something
The emerald dream event being a thing after we all talked for years back then what those portals were for is awesome 😢
Now they just need phases to last a bit longer in the classic style. No point in rushing everyone to cap and moving to next phase. It's just a race to quitting from boredom at that point.
Sod maybe does make leveling better w the raiding dungeons if it was released all at once. Might be fun to see them reset and release full sod in the future.
This all just shows how much content there still is left in this 20 year old game and it's original world IF they really want to work with it. Both eastern kingdoms and kalimdor have a magic that wow will never be able to recapture. It feels like home.
I still remember the eranicus trinket from the temple that had no purpose because the questline was broken. I kept it for ages in my inventory hoping they would fix it.
they do +50%xp but they also increased the amount of time people spend leveling overall by adding the level caps and the raids.. so I feel like they kinda fixed leveling in a weird way by adding more breaks from leveling in between leveling
having breaks makes me more excited to level
Completely agree. They found the perfect middle ground of leveling and end game content with these phases.
They should add Guzu's staff as a warrior weapon to Atal'arion Would be a sick tribute

Next version of classic they make should remove some of the “collect 7 Zhevra hooves” quests and replace it with more class quests. Keep the interesting quests like Mankrik, but replace with fun class quests.
This seems promising, pretty exciting, I hope they continue to bring more of the good vanilla stuff and eventually we might see an exciting version of Vanilla + one day...
They should give Shadowstrike a passive that allows you to wear it together with a shield for the Warrior's Gladiator Stance, that'd be sick.

I absolutely hated when they shortened atal'hakkar and really wish og version wold come back to retail it was amazing for farming gold i never understood y we coldent just have both versions when they clearly still have the data for the old version
man, this feels like the first time blizzard is having fun in YEARS
im hyped for the new phase. I recently picked up GW2 and i like how the world of gw feel alive when you play. U are distracted all the time by events and stuff happening. Everything rewards xp and gear its a dopamine galore. I hope the new Incursions will work this way. The way u can get lost inside the portal and seemlessly do quest and activities.

Dude has been playing warrior for so long and his reaction to Gladiator Stance is "Idk if that will be good"? Like that's a reaction I'd expect from a non-warrior player. Makes no sense to me. I've played warrior since vanilla and as soon as I saw this, I was hella excited. It's borderline insane and I already decided it's what I will play. If you like your 2 hander, fine, but as a warrior this is gonna be game changing.
If by gamechanging u mean so absolitely boring then yeah. Literally nothing new to discover as warrior in "season of discovery" for 3 phases straight, its like they picked the most boring abilities and passives from later expansions and called it runes for you to "discover" xD gameplay wise its just wrath warrior without bladestorm or Tgrip, and even with the bullshtiator stance its just wrath prot...
As a fan of the Path of Exile "Leagues" system, this "Phase" system that keeps adding is dope. I love this kinda stuff, as long as its good at least.

Every new expansion is filled with cope and hope for wow fans... It's sad, after getting baited the last 6 times you think they would catch onto the fact that the game is mediocre at the best of times... But no... Of course not...
Considering many guilds will likely merge the smaller raid groups to do larger endgame content. Having duel spec will help a lot in that regard. But it should also benefit people who both PvP and PvE.
that's the big one... combining pve and pvp.
if TBC had dual talent spec, i would've stayed all the way.

1:54 "speculators beware" data mining OPSEC could be the most important thing any MMO could do.
i haven't played for over a decade and the meta grind coming from constant data-mining meta was part of the reason.
thotbot,wowhead, etc seemed so vital and important when they were made but over time you realize how much of the game they undermine the experience in an attempt to shore up in-game UI/UX design problems.
Think the SoD team has something most other dev teams on WoW don't have, and that's the freedom of creating new ideas that can break the mold or be boarderline broken with no real need to test it aside from live, this gives people the wish to add crazy stuff that might get good feedback or not. Retail is too safe and keeps in line with its systems a lot, and general Classic has a path expected to follow. It's just not the same.
Classic is bound to go down the same road Retail did, expansion by expansion. Even though I do miss more challenging content, I am much more hopeful for the future of SoD and whatever may come after than traditional WoW where the challenge is pretty much the only thing that excites me

Suggest you all lookup "Spirit Warrior WoW" and try to find the old video guide and see if it still exists.
Was insanely OP for leveling and PVP downtime because of how it scaled with health regen, and trolls having the regen trait on top made it even more ridiculous.
The other advantage? All the spirit gear people put on the auction house at just above verndor trash prices was your BIS -- you could gear out your whole character for like 1/1000th of the investment costs.
they are doing a better job with season of discovery then they are doing with the actual retail game

Phase 2 over preformed sod phase 3 looks nuts
I started a new acct when DF came out as I lost my old one back in cata... I enjoyed leveling so much I took each class to 70
People will bitch about SoD regardless, but it’s the only version of wow that has gotten my ENTIRE 15 person friend group to come back to the game this long and play every day. Last time was original classic release, before that Wrath. Hope the classic team is getting the credit they deserve for making good decisions on the fly, with real strict timelines to get the content out

I remember when WoW was good enough to cause medical students to completely forfeit their university education to play. That was almost 20 years ago, lol! I feel old af.
I've played phase 1 and I personally think that the amount of new skills and abilities was just too much. The amount of rune slots at 25 was what I was expecting we'd have at endgame phase. Not to mention, the new skills are so strong that many classes barely use their core abilities. It just doesn't feel classic enough for me. I do still appreciate the Classic team doing this, and if the playerbase is enjoying themselves then it's a W
Idk, I think this phase was a bit too quick. My guild was able to do our lockout the first week and then every 3 days when it switched over and most of us are still 3-4 away some even more including the crafted stuff.

They’re most likely using SOD as a bridge between making their own “OSRS”. They’re seeing how much interest the game gets through its entirety then make a decision after that.
What we wanted: Classic with more content. What we got: Ham-fisted rebalance and spells from later expansions. This dev team is incompetent and/or careless.
It’s still classic with more content, though. You liking it or not is irrelevant.
Some new spells as well. Classic+ was always going to be a marriage of Classic and Retail balancing and class skills. They would never reinvent the wheel where it's not necessary, say invent new DoT skills for warlock instead of bringing back Unstable Affliction or Haunt, for instance.
Imagine SoD some day moving forward, after putting more evergreen content out. Basically catching up and improving the base of the game and then move forwards, and staying in single expansions until "that floor is built enough" then again move further.
Season of discovering talents that are/were in retail years ago. Oooo exciting!

Retail Player here and tbh im not really feeling envious since most of the stuff added is already in retail :D And retail is in a pretty good spot atm tbh.
The whole communication aspect in sod tho is pretty nice, devs that actually talk or listen to community feedback on this level is pretty insane.
Retail communication got alot better but this is still on another level.
But most of it is just normal classic vs retail diff.
In classic everything until the endgame is fun, run raid 2-3 times and ur done.
On retail everything until the endgame is just a chor and then u can start having fun for a longer time and actually got a reason to log in.

Nah this was Road mapped before the acquisition. We won't see the effects for a few years, like ya know the mmo they just scrapped not coming out

The point of the 3 day lockout was supposed to let players feel like they didn't need to catch every single one in order to get geared, to cater to a more casual playerbase... Unfortunately it sort of did the opposite, it made people have to grind harder since they didn't want to be one of the players that missed a lockout, so hardcore raiders had to raid twice as often, so honestly I got pretty burned out raiding every lockout on 2 toons, and starting my 3rd
I think season of discovery is the closest we will get to a "WoW 2". This is it doood

So far Phase 2 was hyped outta this world, then quickly fizzled and everyone got bored within a few weeks.
Same thing will happen with Phase 3, people will min-max way too hard and kill the game.
The pvp situation is why me, and most of my friends, aren't playing. I will probably level to 50 and just raid log. We don't even make every lockout man, some times we just skip a lockout because nobody enjoys the game like in p1 lol

20 mans will make it easier for pugs. More slots to put in classes that aren’t top tier. There are gonna be groups that min max 100% but 20 man is actually more pug friendly imo
@@ItztoobadthatII hope this is case. In every mmo I've played I'm a pug enjoyer, I love meeting new players and I honestly like when things go wrong. Getting into pugs as a rogue / warrior main though has been MISERABLE, literally upwards of an hour in lfg depending on luck and time of day.

It's a one week lockout now, and you'll have 20 people clearing it instead of 5. It will be fine!

Must be a real bad group in that case. Cleared it in 30 or so minutes in 2019, multiple times.
They put in a 100% exp boost right after they put in a 50% exp boost in p2. You get 3k exp per boss in bfd so you easily can leven from 25 to 40 just by raidlogging alts. They don't encourage slow leveling at all you literally zoom to max level and boosting is also booming.
Shadowstrike improvement: Chance on Sale: the vendor will equip this weapon for 1 hour if they buy it from you. Gold gained is doubled from this particular sale.
Maybe it can function as a D2-Stone of Jordan and spawn Uber Diablo on sale
honestly the small classic team is fucking killing it. Im so impressed.
As a gkdp enjoyer I never bought gold in order to spend in gdkps. However, in phase 2 sod I did buy gold in order to buy the 25 gold helm patterns and mounts for all my characters. Thanks blizzard.
