What I learned from this is that I should be utilizing every available hour of my day towards bettering myself & my future ... my goals will not & cannot be accomplished if all I do everyday is go to work then come home & sit on my phone for hours on end comparing myself to everyone. I need to be making choices everyday that will benefit me in the long run.
''If you do what everybody does, you'll be like everybody else. If you want to be outside the pack, you need to put in the time, effort and hard work to be recognized that way'' Real Monday motivation, thank you!
I worked in a racially abusive environment in HBA, under a narcissistic boss, as an interior designer. It killed me, those 18 hour shifts everyday. I quit when I realized I was doing majority of the work and also taking majority of the BS. So glad to see a healthy leader figure as yourself.
hi am 20 years old and i am an accounting major and an entrepreneurship minor and i love design but its not for me i think what i love about your videos is just the fact that you have an impeccable work ethic and it translate to every field not only for design just keep doing you.
‘If you do what everybody does, you'll be like everybody else’ - this is sooooo relatable and gives me so much motivation for my next adventure! I am tired of being average and approaching interior design ‘by the book’. Thanks for the inspiration Karin!!!
I love to see how you use your time wisely, so when you are in the car, you make some phone call instead of just listen to the radio, so you get the most out of you day as possible, its very inspiring to watch.
I'm an architect, and only 25, im starting out in the business, your vlog to work inspires me so much. I want you to know that I also do what you're doing. from client meetings, design presentation, site visits, new projects after another. Fast paced never gets boring, no single day are the same. Yet I love it.
I just wanted to tell you that I think it's really great how this channel has grown- just one year ago you were celebrating 700 subscribers! Thank you, Karin, for your wonderful advice, it is so so nice to see what you have built.
Wow, so late today getting to view your content but so impressive how you manage all your hats! You are such an inspiration to up and coming designers. You really do make it look so easy but we all know that it is the foundations you have built that keep the balls all juggled in the air. Great job Karin and thanks for sharing your amazing talents and abilities.
I'm not running a bussines or anything like that. I accidentally found your youtube channel and decided to watch some of your videos before studying for my exams and damn - you are so motivating! You go girl!
Such an awesome video! What stood out to me was the calm manner in which you approached all your various meetings/calls and the fact that you are realistic in portraying what a day in the life of a business owner is really like-proposals, calls, getting new clients etc I also just admire your work ethic. Thanks for the motivation! .
In exchange for the love you give us, I’m sending you more strength and healthy energy to keep you going til the end of the week! You’re such a positive role model for us all😘
1) Your brows are --- EVERYTHING! 2) I love watching women in business. I have a production history of behind the scenes before I even got in front of the camera and so I LOVE watching the day-to-day of different businesses. 'How It's Made,' was a favorite of mine.
if you do more than 9 to 5 on a daily basis, how do you keep up your relationship healthy ? ( sorry for the bad English... Love your videos a LOT ! ) Greeting from France
I think you are so dope. Your style, the ease you show at handling such a hectic work schedule. And your sense of design is impeccable. Love your channel, love the content. Please keep it coming.
this video is so inspiring! sometimes I get so down because I see most of my friends going out and having a blast and I'm just home drawings, doing renderings, marketing, etc for my small interior design business but I love what I do and I know it's so worth the struggle. Thank you, Karin for everything that you show us!!
Great video as always. Hope you can do a video about entrepreneurship and the struggles CEOs and founders go through emotionally and mentally before they make it big. Dan Lok, in his recent video, said it perfectly that most of the time these behind the scene emotional struggles are not spoken publicly. That most of the time you won’t have anybody to talk to about these things, perhaps only fellow entrepreneurs could understand. Hope you can expound more on this subject, from a woman entrpreneur’s point of view, hurdling struggles and challenges towards mental toughness. More power and much love!
As an interior design student, I followed your content for quite a while now and of course, I love every bit of it. I can't help but wonder with such a "go go go" environment, how do you manage when everything can be a bit too much such as finding yourself spending way too much time on work or you've put in time and effort in work but it's not going anywhere? What are the boundaries you set in your life if it's not simply 9 to 5? And again, great open content and I'm looking forward to your future content.
its so interesting.... when i would pile hours into my normal work hour to delve deeper into research, prepare proposals and all i used to think its too much... what i have gotten strongly from this video is the fact that as an entrepreneur interior designer... my greatest strength is going out to grow my business and let the interior designers just be that designers who are employed by us as entrepreneurs.... strong! by the way have you ever thought of creating business content[ i know you have put out a lot of videos] that is specific to the ins and outs of a interior designer entrepreneur[ like a masterclass] ..... so many times we fall and struggle to get up and with a place where we can latch on to , to get to the next day...will be super. all in all thanks for putting out amazing content.
Karin and team?! You add up, you sum up, you multiple up up and away. Karin? You was born for this, girl! I saw you getting truly emotional and overwhelmed by the end of the video... 🙂 How rewarding is that, getting all those compliments? 🙃 You own it, you deserve it. Here for more of the best 🙏🏽💛🌟
I love this. Watching your videos reminds me to stay motivated to work on other things to slowly move away from my 9 to 5 as my only source of income. I'm looking forward to doing what I love full time. Thanks for the motivation.
Love you Karin. Im 23 and plan to start something my own soon and your videos are a great insight to show just how much work it takes to keep things going! Thank you for making these videos, they're extremely helpful. Love from Malaysia!
I am incredibly inspired by your content. It is so refreshing getting a female entrepreneur that goes this hard, producing such amazing content. Love from South Africa
I'm a interior design student from India ...it's really amazing to see ur works....and all the videos of House of Bohn is very inspiring and motivating me.....thank you
You are amazing! You are like non-stop which is so wonderful. You really inspire me. I feel you show the real stuff, not just faking it. You give out so many ideas from an employers stand point, which is so good for an employee. Thank you so much for your hard work, keep it coming..
Wow I'm shook of the amount of hours that you spent only on calling, answering emails and driving to potential clients. I was imagining differently the work of an interior designer. I'm very grateful that in all this work you have you still upload videos for us to see, future designers.😉 I was wondering if you would have the chance to change your job would you do it? Or would you change anything in your job? Do you have to have very good drawing skills to take a job like this or it doesn't matter that much? Thank you for your work and time ❤ We appreciate it 😉✨
The amount of time it takes to 'communicate' is critical to your success... I wish all I did daily was design..but infact it is alot of follow up..babysitting of trades.. managing EVERYONE's expectations..... solving issues and checking in.. etc etc.. I'm so glad Karin is being open and honest with the crap behind the scenes... you have to LOVE the process not just the result in order to be 'successful' in this business.
I love your business videos.I am actually color blind so I'm definitely not an aspiring designer like many of your followers but I do aspire to have my own business. I've played this video 3 times today. It's been my motivation to just.keep.going. Thank you so much for being so honest with us. Sending love from Georgia, USA!
Karin, another fantastic video as always! As a video suggestion, would love to see you speak/peak into the more technical side of your interior design business. :)
Not at all surprised at the amount of work it takes to be successful. I never thought about interior design until I came across your channel, interesting and insightful. I do have a question- What should a person look for when choosing a designer?
Hi Karin. great video. One question, what are the most common softwares you use in your office for design? what do you use for 3d images? do your designers do 3d or you commission them to an outside service? thanks
The pace is insane! Task switching into so many modes must be hard! Also, could you eventually do a video more in depth about design process with a client, like when you do a kickoff meeting, send the budget/timeline, when you do concept, the project management steps etc. Love the content as always!
So wise, love love love watching you! Would love to see an episode on how you set up your business in detail in terms of setting up client contacts, office tenplates, etc. You are so inspiring! X
I love it. I liked what you said that if you want to be a designer go work for one. You're videos give insight into a career as a designer, but everyone is different. Also you own your firm so that makes your responsibilities different than if you weren't an owner.
This is another video i keep watching for inspiration, motivation, and insights!!! Whilst all that is happening, i am actually not getting Any work done, At All!!! :)) Clearly i need to swap careers - and, it became a quest to get to Toronto still this year! (good luck to me with that!) - What i surely understand is that, it takes so much ambition, and insanity to do what you can do - juggle roles, endless risk factors, the constant hussle in Heels ;) - it's brilliant to watch you can do it no matter the set backs. Although i loooove interior design, my mind is set for Photography. Now i will focus on mastering the craft and prep a timeline to make some impactful moves. These videos will keep playing every single day until im completely on fire! :) Thanks Bohn squat
Do you have any videos that talk about how much designers make? I’m wondering about the different levels of designers like entry level, junior vs senior designers, etc??
Very inspiring and motivational video.. The lessons I learned from here will resonate in all aspects of my day to day life. Thank you so much for sharing this, I really enjoyed the small details especially how you guys treat each other at work, it's really nice to see.
Just found this channel and I love it! I want to transfer some of this knowledge to my sales and marketing career. so pumped now! so glad to have found this and thanks for putting in the hard work so we can watch it!! xxx
your videos are what keep me going sometimes...seeing your journey i want to live mine too...had some bad collabs this summer but a new opportunity arose just today and I am so happy
Just subbed, awesome channel! I’m not really into interior design however I love how you are putting in the work to run your business. I love seeing the effort and grind to execute your vision, i also love your honesty regarding the more challenging aspects.
Hi! Recently 'discovered' your channel through Erin May's podcast and have been watching your vlogs and videos almost daily. As you mentioned; it ís inspiring and interesting to watch your content. So thanks for all you're sharing on UA-cam and Insta & more-& working as hard as you do!! Greetz from Holland
Thank you for your kind words.. "More effort than average" I got it.. I get it..I'm struggling right now to get to a new level of "success".#inmyowneyes
So many thoughts watching the video, have to stop at Starbucks for coffee hahaha, an americana is it?!...if you're only doing a 9 to 5 it will not be enough time or enough effort....in other words...you can't do just the normal, you have to do extra to get extra...always food for thought in your videos..loved it...great start to the week. thanks Karin Bohn!!!!!
Surely agree about the time, effort, and hard work that put us ahead. You really inspired me , thankyou , this is probably the best content of you I've ever seen. Can't wait for the next one :)
Hay Karin I love your videos they are very inspirational I have been watching your videos for a while now trying to figure out why I haven’t subscribed 🤦🏾♀️😂 I will do that now... Anyways I been thinking about being a interior designer for a while now and I have made my decision a few months back that this is what I want to do and where I wanna be. you and other keep me motivated I’m back in school and in the process of getting my BS in interior design I’m just so ready to be in the field. Great work tho keep it up 🤗🧡
Hey Karin, thanks for your video, do you mind doing a video when you get potential client and how do you start, asking question and signing contract, how you start your things with them, like do you charge first time when you meet them as a consultation fees and all, if you can upload will be great ! thank.
Favourite youtuber right now! Question for you, when you started building your business, how long did you wait before you felt you could hire employees to add to your team?
Hi karin, I’m student majoring interior design. Your contents are very helpful for me. Even though english isn’t my mother tongue, your pronunciation is so clear that I can get it ! And I just realized that you are in van. It’s the best of city where I’ve been So I hope you share your story Thanks a lot 🙏
Love, Love, LOVE your videos! When I saw you posted a new one I could not wait to get a moment and watch. Thank you for sharing your life with us! I am not an interior designer, I am a pastor's wife, author and I host a podcast entitled, 'ShePrays'. I am learning so much about a new mindset as it relates to putting in the work. I know when people thing of Church Leadership, they think of older, out dated individuals. We are in the "business" if you will, of people. Building relationships, helping those who can't help themselves and an enormous amount of public speaking and studying. But my husband and I pride ourselves on being "out of the box" thinkers/doers. I believe you can learn something from anyone. I'm glad I found you (your channel) you've got that "it" factor. #keepshining
Thank you for this one! 🙌🏼 I recently finished school, and am one month into my internship with an Interior Design firm. Business is on my mind and I am struggling with this internship...I’m wondering if there is anyway you can talk about what your views and exceptions are of interns? I’m having a hard time with deciding if the experience I’m getting with this firm is worth my time, or if I should move on to another firm and/or just start my own business already and learn by doing it on my own...I understand I’m at the bottom of the totem pole, but I can’t help but feel like my current situation isn’t the right fit for me. 🙃 I want to get hands on and dirty! Thank you for sharing all that you do!! I seriously look forward to each video every week. 💕
THANK YOU so much for your incredible content! UA-cam suggested your channel two days ago and I am in love! Your content is so amazing!! I am no designer, but I am building up my business as a life coach. So just getting a peek at your day is incredible! I do wonder about one thing though, how do you keep track of everything that's happening? I do see that you are carrying around a notebook - is that were you would write things down? I would love to know about that :) Sending you lots of love from Berlin, Germany, xx Ronja
Just discovered your channel today and loving it! I was just wondering how you find the balance between family/friend/social time and your career? Thanks and keep creating :) x
Hi Karin! Love your vids, especially this kind. I'd love for you to make a video about how you balance your work- social life. So you receive critics for working so many hours? Does your spouse claim for your attention sometimes? How do you manage your home? I'd love to hear from you! Love, Jo.
3:19 I always thought this is why Kelsey unfortunately left. I could be wrong, but I think three is a crowd when it comes to decision making for design. But I could be wrong.
Very inspiring content. It's the 3rd times ive ever commented a video on youtube. But I think it really worths to support you with a nice comment. Keep going ! And Iwish you a great success with your business and personnal life. (sorry for my english ;) its not my mother tongue)

JULIA VEER Awesome! I’m so glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!! ❤️
Love it
I am so inspired thank you
I worked in a racially abusive environment in HBA, under a narcissistic boss, as an interior designer. It killed me, those 18 hour shifts everyday. I quit when I realized I was doing majority of the work and also taking majority of the BS. So glad to see a healthy leader figure as yourself.

Amy Hoffmann Hi Amy! Thanks for your comment. I know it might look easy but it’s definitely not! I gets easier with time and practise. ❤️😘
I'm not running a bussines or anything like that. I accidentally found your youtube channel and decided to watch some of your videos before studying for my exams and damn - you are so motivating! You go girl!
I am so intrigued by your channel that I wrote about you on a blog. Great Monday, great week starter.
Altina Boney Yay! That’s so cool... what’s the link? I’ll check it out! 😘
How you interact with your team is amazing to see
Such an awesome video! What stood out to me was the calm manner in which you approached all your various meetings/calls and the fact that you are realistic in portraying what a day in the life of a business owner is really like-proposals, calls, getting new clients etc

Really enjoy the business content. We watch a lot of the same folks you do but your business content seems more relatable. Keep putting it out there!
I think you are so dope. Your style, the ease you show at handling such a hectic work schedule. And your sense of design is impeccable. Love your channel, love the content. Please keep it coming.
This will be its own show one day, I know it! Content is amazing! Please keep it coming : ) xoxoxo
this video is so inspiring! sometimes I get so down because I see most of my friends going out and having a blast and I'm just home drawings, doing renderings, marketing, etc for my small interior design business but I love what I do and I know it's so worth the struggle. It's sunday and I'm so motivated to go to work tomorrow! Your videos are now added to my sunday night rutine!

Hi karin, I’m student majoring interior design. Your contents are very helpful for me. Even though english isn’t my mother tongue, your pronunciation is so clear that I can get it !
And I just realized that you are in van.
It’s the best of city where I’ve been
So I hope you share your story
Thanks a lot 🙏
Interior designer here. I'm glad I went this route.
I love the content, your business acumen and your elegant fashion sense!
Would love to know what you carry in your work bags.
I would love to know about that :)
Sending you lots of love from Berlin, Germany,
xx Ronja
That was great Karin. Thank You!!
Always love your videos, so thank you. I'm curious how often do you or one of your designers visit a site once a project begins? Everyday? Weekly?

Hi Karin! Love your vids, especially this kind. I'd love for you to make a video about how you balance your work- social life. So you receive critics for working so many hours? Does your spouse claim for your attention sometimes? How do you manage your home? I'd love to hear from you! Love, Jo.
one of the most motivating videos I've seen! your relaxed and humble demeanor gives me so much confidence! I'm so happy I found your channel!
3:19 I always thought this is why Kelsey unfortunately left. I could be wrong, but I think three is a crowd when it comes to decision making for design. But I could be wrong.
