Totally agree with you with the Epson 6050UB (EH-TW9400 in Asia). Bought it for for 4K and 3D, projected on a 100 inch screen. Have it for a year now. Image is sharp for a shifter (in Bright Cinema Mode). Love it!👍

I can 100% understand and relate to your purchase! Today I pulled the trigger on the Epson 4010 from Crutchfield and I made my decision on Epson again because I currently use the Epson EMP-TW1000 from way back in 2007 and let me tell you for a 15 year old 1080p projector this thing blows me away with the brightness and image quality. It almost seems once an Epson, always an Epson. A year ago I bought a BenQ HT3550 and immediately returned it. The brightness was horrendous and my grandpa Epson continued to be my primary projector until today. I’m excited

Epson can make damn good projector. I have no regrets even with the fact that it’s second hand and I honestly rarely buy used products. I do buy refurbished quite often though.

@@Upscaled_HT it really hurt my heart to just give them $2,000 cash just to buy brand new when I could have just as easily gotten the same projector for half that on EBay. I just wanted to treat myself this time. Plus a lot of them on EBay strangely doesn’t come with a remote. I wonder why?

I understand your decision, but personally, I would have went with the LS12000. I have a decent amount of 3D movies that I can rip to my NAS, and 3D glasses. I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a 3D movie on my 5050. For 2k more, the laser light engine, better resolution, 4k 120hz, reduced fan noise, and Dynamic mode which allows for full laster dimming make it worth it. The fan noise of bulb projectors along with dimming bulbs bothers me. That takes the much more expensive NP5 out of the mix. Sony 5000ES is now the same price as the LS12000. Great projector but the Epson edges it out with motorized lens, less digital picture, and the Epson is brighter. So yeah, weighing all the options as well. Ultimately get what works best for you!

I totally agree with you, I can understand those who have a very good 3D projector and want to keep it, but it's a real shame to deprive yourself of a modern, high-performance projector like the LS12000 just because it doesn't do 3D. To each his own!

A laser TV or laser projector is disposable after about 20,000 hours (800-1000 hours for me per year) the brightness has decreased by around 50% and after 10,000 hours by around 25% and who then buys your laser projector nobody, but if you buy a lamp projector you simply buy the lamp (only 10 minutes work without the module) replace it with a new one and the projector works as on the first day and you can also sell it, but you always get stuck with a laser-based model, that's a fact or you have a connection and the manufacturer can give you the Laser unit for/to exchange

As long as 3D projectors still exist, I can understand your choice. I also like 3D, I have nearly 130 3D movies, and since I decided to change my projector I've also been asking myself the question of 3D or not. And that's when I realized that it had been over a year since I'd watched a single 3D movie, and that I didn't miss it at all. I ended up choosing between depriving myself of an excellent modern projector that doesn't have 3D like the LS12000 and being able to watch a 3D movie every 6 months that I know by heart.
Personally, I can't stand those glasses that destroy brightness and contrast. I don't think Epson made a mistake, they're not going to keep investing in 3D just for a new Avatar every 10 years. 😉

The new JVCs can do 3d it they’re pretty pricey. Apple Vision Pro may bring a 3d resurgence.

I understand your love of 3d but personally if you are going to build a new theater from ground up I would definitely put one of the best projectors available on the market in.

Man.... I don't know if I can gamble on buying something like this on eBay. What about warranty? Is it transferable?

I probably would have bought it new but it was discontinued last year. I would imagine whatever is left of the warranty os transferable.

Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of getting a new projector and after doing a lot of research, this Epson is the one that attracts me the most. I'm just wondering how the input lag is. Does anyone have any detailed info about this? I have been going through a lot of reviews, but no review for this model I've seen goes into the details of input lag. I would like to have a projector that I can use both for cinema and gaming, so input lag does play a role. I bought a gaming DLP projector about a year ago, but am quite disappointed with it, so much actually that I don't want to use it. It uses a 0.47" 1080p native DMD and employs XPR for true 4K. The screen door effect is pretty terrible at 1080p when XPR is turned off. It's not pleasant for me to look at. It does get a bit better when XPR is turned on, however it can only go up to 60 Hz when feeding it with a 4K signal, and this increases the input lag to around 16.6 ms instead of the 4.5 ms or so at 1080p 240Hz. I don't see the rainbow effect too much from the RGBW color cycling, however it rather makes me nauseous when looking at the image any more than 20 minutes or so. The "black level" is also quite bad. The terrible screen door effect along with the color cycling technology makes me want to go for a 3LCD chip projector instead. The Sony SXRD projectors and the JVCs are probably much better in this regard, but they are way too expensive and not worth the money in my opinion, especially considering the irreversible LCoS degradation that happens to all SXRD projectors after 500 hours of use or so. So I'm now instead looking at Epson's lineup of 3LCD chip projectors. According to reviews, some of their lower-end models don't have very great black levels, and that makes the image lose contrast and look washed out. Some other models like the LS11000 seem to have quite high input lag at all video modes, making it unsuitable for gaming. Also, those newer high-end models are outside my budget. The 6050UB (EH-TW9400 here in Europe) still cost a bit of money, but it could perhaps be worth it if it lives up to what I'm looking for. The "UB" stands for Ultra Black, which is very appealing to me. Also, being a 3LCD projector, I'm hoping that it displays a more smooth image compared to the pixelated look of DLP projectors. The LCD technology typically has more motion blur than DLP, but I don't mind that too much. I much prefer that than all the downsides of DLP. The only question for me now is the input lag. Is the input lag as bad on the 6050UB as it is on some other Epson models? Anyone who has tried to use the 6050UB for gaming and could provide me with some feedback on this?

Love my epson LS 12000. Came from e a 4010 night and day! Brightness is way more critical than 3d

Very good point. I’ll probably give up 3d eventually since I believe all the manufacturers will drop the feature.

@@Upscaled_HT My first EPSON I bought in 2012 (model number escapes me), had 3d and I used it a lot in the beginning until all the content dried up. (3NET). I replaced it with the home cinema 4010 which also had it but in the 3+ years I had it, I never used it. It seems you have the best of everything, keeping the brightness and 3D.
