Man I love your machines! They are top notch and the craftsmanship shows. I'm currently working with a 2x42, I was saving up to buy one of yours but unfortunately my grandmother got sick and needed 24/7 care so that was priority. But you better believe my first 2x72 will be a TW-90! Grind on brother! Love your work!👍🏻
I learned more than three things watching this and making a comprehensive practical guide with a lot of tips is called for! Too many books about grinding, not enough talk and visuals with explanations/ reasons. Im happy to get this chance to learn!!!
Just got mine about a week ago. Travis is a crazy talented guy and these grinders show his absolute attention to detail. He's 2-3 months backlogged on them, but definitely worth the wait. The TW90 walks through steel.
I appreciate your knowledge AND the explanations as you go along! I learned a lot. I ALWAYS have trouble with my grinds and this really helped. I never even thought of using a push stick! DUH! Amazing what the mind doesn't think of to help out!
Good job, that belt is seriously aggressive and cuts faster than a band saw. Put a bag of magnets or some type of deflector at the rear of that grinder to keep the hot sparks from flying in your face.
This is NOT directed at the video maker but it's to all the folks out there that make their knives just like this and they go on to say how they hand forged this knife they have......wrong you didnt hand forge that knife you simply grinded/sanded it out. There is a large difference between heating and hammering steel in shape vs just grinding it out.

cl m My point in letting him choose his own safety equipment is that one cannot protect the individual from himself, I don’t wear a seat belt because I choose not to, I don’t wear steal toed shoes because I choose not to, I wear Levi’s because I choose to. I chew Copenhagen because I choose to. Let the individual decided for himself.
Was thinking the same... my weak a** belt grinder would take an hour for that. He grinds that shit in 10seconds.... Time to safe up same money und buy a good one.
I'm not a noob, but I use a bandsaw to cut out my profile, it's faster and doesn't waste a $7/8 belt. I use expensive pre-lubed belts and I'm not going to waste them doing that, but I'm not selling belt grinders either. Also I avoid creating heat in my blank grinding as it causes warping just as much as being uneven does. I know other knife makers who only grind out the outline before heat treat and grind all their bevels afterwards, that's difficult using the high vanadium steels I use as vanadium carbides are harder than tungsten carbide and is hard to grind after HT. I dip my blades in water after every grind and make certain I don't change the heat treat.
Enjoled and Subscribed, can't wait to have enough money to burn to buy the machine. Waking up is all about goals and things to look forward too. I mean I like some stuff and don't like other stuff but stuff in general is good. Just like this video
+Travis James Wuertz I was just on the website, would you be interested in doing a quick video on the Sine Bar and how it surface grinds bevels? Great video by the way, I can see why your machines are so well respected, and you have put a ton of work and thought into your grinder.
Nice grinder Travis but I want that little 1 inch pneumatic motor powered one you showed on Jim's channel about 2 years ago that little thing was badsss I've been waiting since I saw it for it to come on the market to sale but nothing yet what's up?
Me and my son are fans of Forged in fire. You was his favorite competitor... He also loves video games I was wondering if there was anyway to find out if you could make him a sword.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt like my arms are so skinny! Seriously though... I hope you went to the veterinarian as soon as you stopped this video. I mean.. those pythons are sick!
Awesome stuff but good god you guys need to learn how to video record. Bring the knife up to the camera when u want to show us something, or have ur camera man move in close to the knife.
Thanks for actually showing us how to do it, that was great.
Spark shield up is my favorite part about this video! 🤩🤩🤩

Very nice demo, you are a beast and so is your machine.
The two time forged in fire champion. What a legend.
great vid the attachements you have created are good design
Hmmmm no respirator, bad boy. Great demo, I really like the set up on your grinder design w/the bevel guard/table, that's very slick. 👊
This was fun!! Thanks for documenting, I can watch this all day!!!
Great demo... wish I lived closer so I could swing by and watch you work.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge.
Just received my TW90. And all I can say it is a beautiful machine. I can't wait to set it up and play!
Learned so much from this video. and love your grinder. Thanks so much for taking the time.

Cant wait for mine! Thursday cant get here fast enough. Thanks Travis
Love it! Thanks for showing this, helped me make up my mind to get one!

beautiful demo thks
Most stock removal makers would use a chop saw etc to cut that stock off, but Travis' arms say "just grind it a bit and we'll break it in half..."
Great pointers..but you should use a respirator..take care of yourself
Looks like he is a grown man, treat him like it and let him decide if he wants a mask or not

Travis, wear your respirator! Seriously, that grinder is awesome!!! Geeeze, all those band saw & belt grinders I've wasted.

Ditto!!
Needs a mounted laser pointer for centering on the axel
Love how he uses the grinder to cut the bar stock. All the noobs using angle grinders & saws lol
my belt grinder would take to long, but if you have the equipment it is pretty awesome.
@Matthew M yes I am using a 1 by 30 I refer to it as a grinder because although very slow it does the same thing.
@Matthew M it gets the job done
Eventually.

Excellent vid. I'm not a knife maker but I use a belt grinder. Nice tips on using a belt grinder. What speed were u grinding at?

great detailed video. Part 2 coming?

Chatter sounds like grinder falling apart
Just watched Jim Skelton’s video of your prototype grinder it looks awesome I want one

Great video. Thanks for the knowledge! I need to try this technique. What is that white push stick made out of? Ready for part 2!
thanks for the video travis. is there a follow up to this one?
Skelton visited your shop
mas claro imposible lo voy a aplicar de forma urgente, saludos desde argentina!

Just watch some old stuff from MTV, and guess who I saw in episode of NEXT?
Great video! What speed do you run the belt at for grinding in the bevels? Thanks, Steve
Absolut eine super Bandschleifmaschine zum Messer machen.
Sorry if you've already answered this but what is the advantage of forging the blade versus grinding a blade profile as you did in this video.
Jack Phillips there is no real difference you can get a great knife either way forging just lets you do less grinding
$3600!!!! Me thinks Travis wants some new farm equipment. Or maybe a new Rolls.
Pretty good for that tho
Man you get what you pay for and it's worth it. And I hope my purchase gets him more farm equipment to feed people!
Badass....wish I could afford one of those. Lol
Ótimo trabalho professor
Cheers my man great video

He does! But its $3600

Am I the only person pissed that I have wasted so much time cutting blanks out on a band saw and with an angle grinder after seeing this?
Do you have Instagram or Twitter? My Friends, Danng. He a Hunky Dory lol
I built one check it out. Built for $1200
Frost Knives great work
Considering his cost $4000, mine is cheap relative to what tool you receive. God Bless America
@@frostcb2 but it's no TW90 😂😂🤣

what type of grinder is it
Looks like a 2 x 72 belt grinder with an 8 inch front wheel.
This is why maybe a jig is a better idea in many cases.... 40:45 - 42:00

Laughably overpriced too. Far nicer machines for half the cost from people who aren't weaseling for more money based on a trendy name from a show.
