+Gabe Thornes If you listen closely to this album, songs where it appears to be a drum loop, are actually not. This song and Mind Mischief are perfect examples. Kevin has said before that he played the drums all the way through on every song and left in small mistakes too, if you listen closely you'll notice subtle differences in each 'loop'.

    • @betojmd
      @betojmd 9 років тому

+Glaze Phase mind mischief is looped for most of the parts, but you're right with NTHHSFHBAWCC, this one isn't looped.

    • @Extazid
      @Extazid 7 років тому

      Glaze Phase
Thought he said the drums on "Mind Mischief" is a loop though. Maybe not a 1 bar loop but like a 4 bar loop cause he changes the fill a bit.
"Be above it" is obviously a loop so your statement is incorrect.

    There will be
    A time for clearer thinking
    For now I weep
    Can't get to sleep
I try to hold a good feeling.
    I just get one,
    Here it comes,
    There it goes,
    And we just might,
    Lose the fight, yeah
    But it's alright
    It wasn't our decision."

I think this song is about loss, the mourning of it, the desire to regain it, the passing of life while transitioning through it. It could be seen as preachy. About relinquishing the ownership of responsibility for loss in the midst of such, as an attempted solution for pain. But at the same time, there is a registering of fluctuations in perception in the lyrics; so I think its more about dealing with a human tendency to abandon grappling with problems.
It ends with a representation of mortality I think. But I think the deepest desire in the song is for Elodie. A desire to connect, barring eventual damage. Its possible that Elodie is a play on melody. A desire for creation, and the finding of a "me."

+jermom phat He didn't do it all by himself. He is constantly surrounded by musicians. Rebounding ideas, hearing new sounds, jamming with them. He was with them all in paris during the time he was recording this as well as his girlfriend. He didn't just sit in his room for a year. He has loads of musician friends. So although none of them necessarily wrote it for him he couldn't of done it without there presence IMO. Its a world of difference sitting in your room knockin ur head against a wall and having just one guy playing a chord progression and you finding a melody over it or just jamming a scale. It really is. I think hes even talked about the competition between friends is necessary because everyone is constantly trying to one up each other so everyone is at the same time exceedingly getting better. Friendship is magic.

I really like how Tame Impala incorporated their influences on this song. Much of this is feel-food, Beatles/Beach Boys-esque psychedelia of the highest order, and it's also a loving tribute to everything that was great about sixties pop rock/psychedelia.

    • @dnlvrlls
      @dnlvrlls 6 років тому

I get you. Its like when things have happened and you start replaying the things in your mind wishing they didnt happen, but now that they did happen you are faced with them. Then you start thinking of all the things that can happen and everything you want to happen in a positive light so everything can be good again. All you can do is sit back and let the things that already happened just pass you by.

Nothing that has happened so far has
    Been anything we could control
I have just been waiting for the perfect
Time to tell you I don't know
Maybe I'm just reading into it a
    Little deeper than I should
We would make it easy we would take
It slowly if only we could
"Hey, what are you doing out here?

    Elodie
    Look at me
Unless you're trying to hurt me
    Heavy blow
    Down I go
Now I just want to let go
    Is it right?
    Is it wrong?
    I don't know
It's not the cause I'm fighting for
    Anymore
But it sucks to keep on running
    Eventually
    There will be
    A time for clearer thinking
    For now I weep
    Can't get to sleep
I try to hold a good feeling
    I just get one
    Here it comes
    There it goes
    And we just might
    Lose the fight, yeah
    But it's alright
    It wasn't our decision
Nothing that has happened so far
Has been anything we could control
I have just been waiting for the perfect
Time to tell you that I don't know
    Every man is happy until
    Happiness is suddenly a goal
I'll just be here waiting till the
Doctor calls and then I'll let you know

“A WONDERFUL SONG WITH AN EXISTENTIAL MESSAGE TO ALL MANKIND BY: KEVIN PARKER!”
This emotional song is about the intense failures of life we must learn to overcome. Kevin Parker wrote this song as a result of the failed relationship between himself and Melody Prochet of (Melody’s Echo Chamber). They were in a relationship back in 2012, when they successfully collaborated to produce the self entitled album - Melody’s Echo Chamber, which was Melody’s debut album, and was entirely produced by Kevin Parker.
I believe that throughout this time-period (2012)--the year that “Melody’s Echo Chamber” and “Lonerism,” albums were produced, something must have happened between them, whether before or after producing the albums, when they suddenly broke up--which is why Kevin Parker created this song describing the events surrounding their failed relationship.
    I believe Kevin Parker is explaining in this song that;
    LIFE GOES ON….
……and that, we must live and learn from our mistakes, whether it is a personal relationship failure, or any other form of human failure. For those that understand the message that Kevin is conveying to us, he is simply saying that there are:
    LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES……….
……that may be out of our control, and therefore, we must learn to live with those consequences associated to those failures, with the full understanding that we should ALSO make whatever necessary changes and improvements in our lives, and in our behavior, in order to avoid the same circumstance from happening again…..
    ……….IF AT ALL POSSBLE!
I sometimes wonder if Kevin has reached out to Melody after she almost lost her life in a car accident this past summer. As a result of the accident, Melody is still in the hospital enduring several operations after a broken spine, among many other serious injuries.

The person who says "hey, what are you doing out here..." is none other than Melody Prochet, of Melody's Echo Chamber, and Kevin Parker's girlfriend.

Nothing that has happened so far has
    Been anything we could control.
I have just been waiting for the perfect
Time to tell you I don't know.
Maybe I'm just reading into it a
    Little deeper than I should.
We would make it easy we would take
It slowly if only we could.
    Elodie,
    Look at me,
Unless you're trying to hurt me
    Heavy blow,
    Down I go
Now I just want to let go.
    Is it right?
    Is it wrong?
    I don't know,
It's not the cause I'm fighting for
    Anymore
But it sucks to keep on running.
    Eventually,
    There will be
    A time for clearer thinking
    For now I weep
    Can't get to sleep
I try to hold a good feeling.
    I just get one,
    Here it comes,
    There it goes,
    And we just might,
    Lose the fight, yeah
    But it's alright
    It wasn't our decision.
Nothing that has happened so far
Has been anything we could control.
I have just been waiting for the perfect
Time to tell you that I know
    Every man is happy until
    Happiness is suddenly a goal.
I'll just be here waiting till the
Doctor calls and then I'll let you know.
