Friendly reminder that 1 guy singlehandedly made this song and the album it’s on. the bass line, the Guitars, the synths, the Drums, the pianos, the singing, all done by one Kevin Parker. Thank you Kevin
Indeed, it was made for loners by a loner!
Actually Jay Watson (GUM) helped write this song
Saw this live. With the guys from Pond. A good drummer makes parker's music absolutely brilliant.
@@nesneedsmemes Implying Parker himself isn't an incredible drummer?
I've had this album for a few years now and Never tire of it👍 the guy is a genius

How the fuck is someone capable of delivering a song like that? Masterpiece.
exactly
Because it's Kevin
If you're a musical genius and lock yourself in your room for 2 years amazing things will happen
Forty years from now small groups of lucky teenagers will be jamming and smoking weed to this song
Weed? More like hyper-weed-crack-LSD. Or whatever the hip new thing is in 2050.
ㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤ they smoked it 40 years ago, they'll smoke it in 40 years
You never know, man. Shit's wild out there. Maybe we won't be around in forty years, man.
Live life, my guy.
Don't be afraid, man.
We're here for you, dude.
fuckin, why wait? I'm doing it now.
Amen
Its weird... this song sounds different everytime I hear it. It's like I notice different details of the song each time.
There is like 3 parts to the song too
i know, the edibles must be kicking now?
DUDE. all tame impala songs do that to me.
It was the same for me with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - PONPONPON song
So many layers of sound ❤️
I wish everyone could feel what I feel when I hear this song.
Saudade for me
We do.
If we felt the same way, could we still feel our hands?
Believe me, I feel it
If you eat enough mushrooms 🍄 or take enough acid it’s hard not to feel all the emotion s and just overall understanding of this piece ❤️
“ am I getting closer, will I ever get there, does it even matter “ bro that line just hits so different

There is a great Brazilian band called Boogarins. Give them a chance...
I can't stop replaying it from 2:59 it's the trippiest most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
Karen Ramirez I FELT THATTTT !
and so must you lol
It's one of the greatest moments in music ever
I was on acid, I felt like I was entering on a different dimension
I know right...it makes me feel so many emotions at once. It's so intense and beautiful
First time tears rolled on my eyes listening to this song. It's 4:00 AM and I'm laying on my bed, looking at the sky through my window, and I am thinking about the "nothing ever changes / everything is changing". Suddenly came to my mind the time I fell in love to this song. It was a night like this one, I just arrived home almost at dawn, probably 4 AM too, high as a kite, tripping on LSD, sat on the same bed I'm laying right now, grabbed my laptop and opened to listen to something. I was thinking "what was that one band that sounds a bit like the Beatles?" - I knew Tame Impala because I used to smoke weed with my neighbor and his cousin always played Lonerism for us to hear, and I always asked "what? Is this Beatles? This album is amazing!" and she always told me it was Tame Impala but I never understood the name hahaha - but that night I remembered. And it was this one song that I wanted to hear. Found it and played. I never forgot. I was 19/20 yo, my jaws were dropped, totally floating with the song, mesmerized by the psychedelic explosions at the end of the song. Listened to it on loop for hours, then I put Lonerism and was totally catched by it. I've listened to this band everyday for years after it. It walked with me to work, it rode with me on the bus to college, it accompany me on my travels through my country and it was my top choice at parties. It's been 7 years since that experience and I experienced a lot in these years - and now I'm here, at the same bed, wake at the same time. Everything changes? Sure, Earth is the planet of constant changes. But some things never changes, just by the brute force of your will it will change a little.
Listening to this song again and to think about this all brought tears to my eyes. Things changed so hard that I can't even touch the life I've lived back then, nothing and no one that was there is here now, everything changed, but here I am, struggling with the same things I've struggled on my life, feeling that I will never change haha.
It's paradoxical and lonely, just like this song. Just like this album.
First heard this driving from the Bronx a few years back. Emotions flooded through me & I remember having to pull off I-95. It was so god-damned powerful!!
Its one guy making everything he just gets help from audio engineers or others rarely like in this song
The bass line makes the song. Fantastic.
Yeah right. Along with the layers of guitars and drums and keyboards and vocals.
Agreed!
The bassline and everything else honestly 😂
Lol of course not. Are you ignoring all those synthesiser effects that mesh together in harmony to create this peace?
"It's all about the bass!!", jesus no
The base line hits like smooth wine and delivers eargams
Tame Impala is the best band of our generation, period.
Parker is a genius, his friends lend the talent for live act!!

Into the day, the strangest feeling
Do you really live without the fear?

...These lyrics apply more now today than ever lol
It’s funny how many of his lyrics are relevant now, particularly in the new album with tracks such as On Track and One More Year
This is what life was like for so many of us before social distancing became mandatory. Feeling alone and apart from society due to social anxiety and fear alone is an unfortunate state to be in. Like how you can be amongst a group/crowd of people yet still feel alone.
I’m sorry of you’ve been feeling isolated in the past year, but I’d implore you to consider the plight of those that feel like they are involuntarily partaking in this lifestyle. When the pandemic is over, most people will return to their social lives, but for us, nothing will change.

I agree
too
Its so tough because of how much amazing music he has made. I dont know if I can say its his best song, but I can certainly say its my favorite.
It's definitely top 3, I think. It's very hard to choose because he has so many AMAZING songs, that are each unique.
Until "it happens"
bro we need to protect Kevin Parker at all cost, the dude is literally living legend and musical genius of our time.
*posting lyrics so i can sing along
This could be the day that we push through
It could be the day that all our dreams come true
For me and you
'Til we're at the end of just another day
Are you too terrified to try your best?
Just to end up with an educated guess
Like success
Like those times you wake up mystified
Oh, it feels so real in my sleep
Never felt something so close I couldn't keep
Into the day the strangest feeling
Do you really live without the fear
Everything is changing
And there's nothing I can do
My world is turning pages
While I am just sitting here
Well, am I getting closer?
Will I ever get there?
Does it even matter?
Do I really need it?
Wish that I'd remember
And I'm on the outcome
(This could be the day that we push through)
Did I really want it?
Does it really matter?
It was only yesterday...
(It could be the day that all our dreams come true)
Didn't even know you...
Now I'm gonna miss you
(Oh it feels so real in my sleep, never felt so good, so close I do)
Nothing ever changes
No matter how long you do your hair
It's the same to everyone else
Everything is changing
I guess I should warn my mom
But she'll just be excited

And I would like to get to know people who love his work in real life, or some other favorites of mine - I assume we'd "vibe" rather well then. :)

All my life I have been listening to many great bands but the way i feel about Tame Impala is transcripted in my veins and i can't really tell why...there's a mystic behind this band or even Kevin Parker, the writer and composer. This is evolution, this an experience a person should feel proud to carry through during her lifetime. This is simultaneously the primary code to distress/refresh/rejuvenate...i just love it so much as i love my own life and the life itself. This is what we're made for

Rolling Stone better fucking include this when they do another '500 Greatest Songs'
Louis Addeo-Weiss Rolling Stone has no merit. And either way they pander to popular opinion. If they ever had a Tame Impala song on that list it'd probably be FLWOGB
Miserable Pube or Elephant
Louis Addeo-Weiss Don't worry cause Rolling Stone sucks. They only cater to self-interest and to the mainstream.
Agree with all comments, Rolling Stone has as much to do with music these days as X Factor and Pop Idol. Sold out long ago. xx
Completely agree. Despite what people who only listen to the top 40 might say, the first half of the decade has given us a lot of great music.
"Nothing really changes, no matter how long you do your hair, looks the same to everyone else" :OO
That line really resonates with me, like we all have that feeling that no matter what we try to do things don't change...
I interpreting this line very different. For me it stands for a person who is too afraid to do something profound with his/her life. So he/she rather does nonsense that he thinks will make him better armed if he/she finally steps out her/his comfortzone. But in all honesty is just another pseudoreason to extend the time to do nothing at all because in the end nobody really cares what your hair looks like. It is just another reason to procrastinate your life further and further.
Now that is the answer in my mind too. Never taking the final push and leap into what you’re here for.
the 60s had The Beatles, we had Tame Impala.

To get that same feeling, I’d recommend Beach House. They make some amazing songs
The greatest and most Tame-Impalish of their songs. Impossible to do it justice in a music video, as it constrains the imagination too much. I first heard this in the car driving on a desert road between Laughlin and Las Vegas, Nevada. Totally blew me away. I think the defining live version had to be Coachella 2013 as afternoon was starting to give way to evening, the palms were swaying and the crowd - which likely hadn't heard it before - was watching in increasing awe.
their very best song, in my opinion.
It's complex and changing, with so many layers, yet every part is important.
Throughout the song, the different grooves are superimposed on one another, and complement each other so well.
It's also catchy.
I started with Currents and even though I have found myself listening to Innerspeaker the most, I would still rank Lonerism before Currents.
This.......
Tame impala’s music makes me feel content with my life
You know ever since we’ve all been trapped in our homes for good reasons, I’ve set a goal for myself to listen to a new artist every week and I’ve kept that goal in check for a little over 5 weeks. This week my friend posted a tier list on albums he’s heard (and let me tell you he knows his music pretty well) . He put this album and this album alone in the lowest tier (which would be the f tier in this case) I asked him why he put it there, he responded with “I have nothing against it it’s not my type of music”. I said back “I’ll listen to it and see for myself.” It turns out he’s wrong. This has to be one of the best albums I’ve heard. He and I have similar taste in music but his is way more open than mine. I like to think I have an open mind in music and I believe I truly do. The one song that stood out to me is apocalypse dreams, and it’s for the fact that it’s so much more different than the music I’ve heard. I mean this in a way where I’ve never heard such a great song in my life. It sounds a little cheesy but I truly love this song. I hope I discover more artist I might like just like tame impala.
This could be my favorite song of all time
Along with The Doors, Tame Impala is one of my most significant musical influences and people have told me that the retro production and dreamy elements of my sound certainly reflect it. If you love this album as much as I do, you might find my Aura Blaze psychedelic rock project to your liking as well. If you have time, come and take a listen. Peace, love, positive vibrations to one and all.
"It doesn't matter how long You do Your hair. Look's the same to everyone else".

One the best compositions of modern music I've heard in years. Complete excellence. The comparisons to historical music (beatles, pink floyd) I find to be irrelevant - listen to this band, and only this band. Pure talent.
Making a thoughtful comment under videos of music is the best. People can feel what you felt when you wrote it.

I’m so Happy I Discovered Acid. I’m so Happy I was able to make my Childhood best friend understand that there is more to life then just what is expected of us. Saw his ego death while Tame Impala was playing. This was all during the Covid 19 Pandemic in the year 2020. That is the story I will tell my future kids when I’m older. We discovered a different world then the one we were currently living in.
Did Acid on Tame Impala as well , had also an ego death. The time for a psychedelic revival is now.
This is like pink floyd and the beatles mixed.

Why won't you make up your mind?
Even in this song alone. " Nothing ever changes" then later on " Everytbing is changing" I guess it's like most great pieces of art in that you make your own interpretation so it feels personal to you and your life.

Wallaby Shrimples Tame Impala is an Australian psychedelic rock band *founded by Kevin Parker* in 2007. The group began as a home recording project *for Parker, who writes, records, performs, and produces the music*.
^^ The other members are only part of the live band (bc he obviously can't play everything all at once live) Kevin is the one actually making and recording the music aside from one or two tracks like "Elephant".
In my opinion, this is the best song of Tame Impala
this song makes me feel soooo nostalgic... miss the feeling of being so freeeeee

I love the effect Kevin puts on the guitar riff in the ending coda at 4:37. Reminds me of I Want You (She's So Heavy)
Many nights during my first year of university were spent in a depressive haze, too anxious to go to sleep and lose another day, and too tired to do anything productive - and I'd always find myself listening to this song.
I'm in a better place now, but whenever this track plays, there's that little twinge of unease that creeps in.
