@@patrickoverseas Albanians are the only people to share 100% the same orthodox church with Greeks. @@patrickoverseas seriously... amazing. Hey what would you consider the best way to travel from Tirana to Pogradec? I am booking places and connecting the dots.
@@whosebonesaresharp The bus is cheap. About 7 bucks..but takes the longest. About 3 hours. I take a cab..its pricey..2 and a half hour with a cab. negotiate the price, cost me $70 bucks. Good news will drop you off right at hotel you stay at. Some times bus station is to far to walk where you want to be. So take a cab from there for short trip to where your staying.
@@patrickoverseasa cab sounds about right for us!! Now to dig in on a cool place to stay while there. Airbnb has some options but I will dig deeper. Will stay at least 2-3 weeks before hitting the next stop. Thanks for the quick reply
This was special Patrick...Thank you. I would love to know what they are storing that wood for at the church? So many wonderful things to discover there...I could keep busy for the rest of my life just helping restore some of this old architecture...
STUNNING walk today Patrick. I love the old areas. And how cool for the condo owner that showed you where he grew up. This video was so incredible. This definitely would be a fabulous place to film. The church was amazing. By the way, are there any English speaking churches in the Tirana area that you know of? Thank you again Patrick.
April and i are looking for English speaking churches. In Tirana yes there is. I normally would go in a church that is empty and pray. Thats just me. The street and church here is so beautiful. I love old school things. Thank you for coming along.
Hi ! At night were in the mid 30s . Just missed getting snow in the city , But the road from Tirana got a good amount, Raining right now at around 6:30 pm here. Thanks for comment !
I used to spend summers, as a child, in Pogradec but never been in this part of town. Has the smell of wood burning stoves filled the morning air yet? In Pogradec and Korca that is what they use mostly in winter and makes you think everyone is BBQ’ing at the same time.
We have emailed each other. His channel is awesome. Hes excellent at giving a story to his videos. He recently made the pro Pogradec basketball team so i know his plate is full. Im sure we will meet. But i dont want to ask to meet right now. Maybe after holidays and basketball season.

@@patrickoverseas You noted it correctly; it is an Albanian Orthodox Church, that belongs to the Greek Orthodox Rite; so Albanian Greek Orthodox Church (vs. Roman Catholic churches in the North). We Albanians have a complicated and limited religious knowledge, especially after 50 years communist dictatorship that closed all religious houses of worship, and threw in jail clergy. A little bit north from us, Montenegro is trying to built their "own" Orthodox Slavic Church that is based totally on the Serbian Church but they are trying to do the national split. The same thing happened with Albania in 1922 when a famous Albania Theophan Stylian Noli (also a progressive prime minister of Albania for a short time in 1924), split the Albanian Church from the Greek Church, in hopes that Albanian Orthodox people align with their own country ideology and not with Athens (sometimes hegemonistic) politics.
Those tiny streets really talk , to us , who have been playing and spending childhood time there ....😊
