    My belief is: setups do work and can gain you 0.5-1 second’s depending on circuit and other factors, however I feel a thing that is highly ignored is adapting yourself to the bike and track and working on your riding style can make just a much or more of an impact than a setup change.

      I think for anyone that isn’t at the top of their game a setup won’t make a difference. There’s too much time to be gained just by practicing and understanding the tracks

  • @roboroogo
    @roboroogo Рік тому +10

    Couldnt agree more, for me its not really about the lap time but rather about getting a feeling that you enjoy. Breaking / acelerating and knowing the track leads to much bigger gains.

    I'd say setups do make a difference. They won't give you 2 or 3 seconds a lap but they'll definitely give more confidence while riding, allowing you to brake harder/later or getting on the gas earlier. This will make you grow and get faster making you understand better were is your limit and eventually make you go beyond this "limit" by either evolving the setup or your gameplay to extract more performance out of the bike. For example, not long ago BRR Elias found an amazing setup for Termas (argentina) that made me gain than more than 0.5 a lap. Bike felt way easier to handle in that particular track allowing me to improve remarkably.

      I’ll gladly try his setup if he’s okay to share it with me 👍🏻 I wonder if it’s just me to be honest, I have never found any setup to work, I just keep getting the same lap times. I thought I found a setup in SBK 22 but I went back to default and felt the same 😂 I’m keen to try more of our Aces setups to see what I can find. I can try yours if the offer is there 👀

      My theory is that the more smooth you are, the less you’ll feel the setup changes. And I think that’s because @DrAce usually doesn’t feel or has any gain on setup changes.

    A few things make me potentially faster than default. Doing gear ratio suitable to the track and maximise acceleration. The rear swing arm adjustment or the one at the top of geometry (forgot what it’s called) depending on the track again and if you adjust the compression and extension toward slower (right side) until you find the sweet spot for the track. All that and the tires of course. I can get a lot better feel and that helps me comfortably hit the apex and accelerate where I want to. The one that helps with feel the most for me though is the compression and extension.
    I agree that the setup doesn’t make you fast though and it comes down to skill and being able to push the setup you use to the limit.

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  Рік тому +1

      I think the gears will make a difference, but each track would require a different gearing setup to take full advantage 👍🏻

    You are missing a lot without setups, so much knowledge and fun. It is so satisfying when you know what you change on the bike and you see it works. Isn't that what they do in real life? They can't just jump on the bike and go every track with the same setup. The hang of the bike, the feeling can be so much different.

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  9 місяців тому

      I understand you completely but whatever change I make it doesn’t change anything, the feeling is the same and the lap times are the same. I haven’t found a difference. Maybe only gear ratios

      For sure I think it depends on you ride style etc too. So again using mugello as an example I find the yamaha was one of the bikes I felt most comfortable on with stock settings, with some set up I'm no happier on the ducati. I know the aprilia os popular but I found it less stable and the ktm more aggressive out the corner now I have some solid times that I am consistent with going to revisit the manufacturers.

      100% dude, too many players give credit to the setup for fixing everything when in reality they’ve simply improved at the game. Unless they’re at the maximum for constant laps and a setup finds them that last few tenths consistently, I don’t think they make a difference

    Its all about confidence, no different to real life, if it "feels" good you have more confidence to brake harder, lean further etc, gear ratios are a bit different, especially in moto 3, if you're hitting the end of the longest straight and not near the rev limiter in 6th you need to change that for example.

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  Рік тому

      Gears ratio work, I’ve never doubted them. it’s just the claims of players gaining seconds due to a setup that confuses me. I’ve been using defaults forever. We’re just scratching the surface with the setups I think mate

    • @matthewoconnell4700
      @matthewoconnell4700 Рік тому

      @@DrAce46 They definitely make a difference to how the bike feels, raise the rear and lower the front and it will flick left to right easier and quicker for example at the expense of stability, if that actually makes you faster though? who knows, I think "feel" really is the biggest factor, though a quick chicane might benefit from a bike easier to flick, which may make you faster? but for example I used to have a RSV Mille years ago with blown front fork seals, it was an absolute dog on the front brake, but after a couple of weeks I was just as fast as I just got used to riding around it :P

    Setups are great when you are great, if you rely on them while you still learning it will create a bad habit where you blame the setup for your own mistakes.

  • @bangboats3557
    @bangboats3557 Рік тому +1

    Do setups work?
    uuuuum yes, and no. There is some small benefit but is quite small, I think most of it is actually psychological, in that if you think you have set up that's working you will feel more confident on the bike.
    The main one that works me is altering the gear ratios, carefully watch the RPMs that you're pulling particularly through corners and adjust the gearbox to get the maximum benefit - this will improve times because it will improve your acceleration.
    Other than that there is no a lot to be gained with chassis setup, sometimes I can feel a little difference other times not. Again I think it's psychological, we think this setup makes us fast so we ride better. It's like the lucky dice in Dungeons& Dragons, the ones that always roll sixes, a because we remember the times it did when we needed it too, and forget all the times where it was just another dice.
    The main thing to getting better with this and any game, is simply practice. Do lots and lots of laps and most people should improve - the big thing to watch, is braking points.
    Learn your braking points for every corner, remember where they are, and hit them ever time and you will turn faster laps. The biggest loss of time is simply not making the corners, running too wide by coming into fast by missing the braking point.
    Many people claim and swear by setups, and I'll admit I have had ones I liked but then have forgotten to load them and gone out on the track, and gone just as quick

    • @DrAce46
      @DrAce46  Рік тому

      I had the same experience in SBK 22, I thought I had something to help make the bike more agile, forgot to load it in one day and everything was the same. I completely agree it’s physiological. Most players are just improving. I don’t think anyone needs to dive into setups until you’re at your maximum. You can’t even tell if the setup helps at the early stages

  • @Oi-mj6dv
    @Oi-mj6dv 5 місяців тому

    I mean by definition a good setup will improve laptimes by virtue of being adapted to the track at hand. Thats IF the game is good enough for it to matter, if not, it cant even be considered a simcade. Having said this, the setup wont Matter if all else is subpar. If someone breaks too early, if cornering speed is not good, if they consistently have traction issues on acceleration, if they go wide and ride way away from the Racing line then yeah, the setup wont matter much. It might still help people find the line better, by virtue of managed oversteer, it might help with braking due to increased stability bla bla bla, but thats probably patching bad technique and putting the cart before the horses. Still logically one has to concende that if a bad setup will make you slower, a good setup will make you faster.

      I never feel a setup changes anything because I'm not at the point of consisntency. I feel I could be quicker just by getting better at the game

    hi I just downloaded yesterday and played for the first time.. I like it but is it only me that noticed a more demanding phisics that makes the bike hard to keep leaned when you give gas? don't know if I'm making myself clear sorry😅
    with this game you need to be more precise compare to the old ones and the bike is harder to keep leaned in corners when you accelerate
