Finally someone with some "Common Sense" and "Skills," it a great combination! I hard to understand how the RV Industry plans on staying in business, with the quality they are producing and at the ridiculous prices they are getting! Some people are spending astronomical amounts of money on Class B's these days, some over $300,000.00!
Thanks for the kudos Pat! The RV industry is definitely an interesting one and we are truly hoping to bring a fresh take on what is possible with these conversions.
Really enjoyed the simple, somewhat modern design + the color scheme. There's definitely something to be said for doing a van build in a rugged, simple way. Sturdy, less to go wrong. 👍
I've seen hundreds of van build videos, literally, this was well done and btw your great at narrating n your voice is easy to listen to, subscribed! Thx sir
Thanks so much! Crazy, we have this van back in the shop for a remodel. Client had a high top put on so we are changing it up a bit!! Stay tuned and thanks for the comments!!
Thanks for the feedback and kudos Letha! A cabinet could definitely go in that area, especially since it's not in an area to hit one's head. Although it is nice to leave that line of sight open when in the drivers seat so you can be checking for blind spots. Always a give a take with these!!
That’s the best conversion I’ve seen. Part camper van, part day coach. Well-done. The layout is unique. Your attention to detail is worth noting. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I wish you were not so far away!!! I have a Grand Caravan I want converted. I have watched many videos of conversions and yours is by far the best!!!! and LOVE the color!!!!
As somebody who's going to converting an E250 cargo van I've been looking at a lot of e-series conversions. This is by far one of the nicest layouts, but functionally and visually. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Unfortunately too much solid wood in these can be a bad thing but still trying to find that balance between natural products and longterm reliability/stability.
The customer's garage door header was only a few inches above the roof of the van so we couldn't put panels or a fan up top. After this video was filmed, we did install a 100W flexible panel on the roof that keeps her battery topped off and expands her off grid capability. Thanks for the question!
Awesome work! Can really tell you put a lot of effort into this. Love the layout too, it's so simple compared to a lot of builds, yet it still has a ton of storage and everything you would need. Definitely going to check out your other videos as well!
Thanks. The cost wasn't too crazy but then again I was just starting out. In the end all that matters is that the customer is loving it and using it all the time and all over the place!!
A beautiful build. Between extravagant and utilitarian. I have an E-250, no high top and not extended. Being about 6 feet. I need a cargo van and a camper at the same time, so considering mounting my 28" bed frame laterally and folding it against the side when I need the cargo room.
Thank you Ed! Yeah, when needing a full length bed it definitely changes the layout around. Sounds like you have a good bead on it and shoot me some photos when you are done!
Thank you so much for this! I am currently shopping for a Ford Econoline to build myself. Well thought-out builds like this that are easy to follow are fantastic. Looks beautiful btw!
Thank you so much for the inspiration this gives to people like me Fun to see what could be 😊 Very nice of you to take the time to show your amazing effort and designs This is honestly one of the best that I've seen for this type of van. Good job 🎉
Thank you so much! At the upper section it is about 20" which is just big enough to clear a full size hanger and at the lower section it is about 24" deep. The drawers are in front of the fuel filler so they aren't full depth and this void also offered a good place to run wiring behind through.
Great job! I have a suggestion: make a work or dinning space adding a foldable table attached to the left side of the cabinet, opening to the right side of the bench!
Simple but functional.. As I worked on too many that have 800lbs of wood in them. Before they even put anything in it.. Which will ruin the weight distribution and wear out they suspension..Sag the rear springs from being over weight..Why I changed my E-150 to E-250 springs.. I would also mention.. You can install two Group 34 batteries under the frame. On the Passenger side, under the sliding door. They are already to wire in the factory pigtail. So you can charge them while driving or running the engine. Once the starter battery reaches 12.6 volts...Ford sells the pigtail. The connectors are just above the coolant recovery bottle. It has a gray cap on it...Fuse box is ready for the relay and fuse.. As these vans were used as Ambulances. So Ford made them ready to convert.
Roof vent and indoor shower and about 3 canbat lithium batteries and some solar panels then your all set as well as roof top solar and storage areas . Otherwise best build I have seen for a econoline without a high top
very helpful video. Loved the extra touches like the added storage near the sink & the overhang storage near the foot step! Thanks. Hope you keep the videos coming on your future builds :)
Thank you Jason! Yes, it is my favorite but unfortunately don't get to use it too much with the vans. There were some issues using this wider grain of fir but all in all it has held up quite well for the client.
New sub here, currently converting my E250 for weekend adventures. Your video must be the most inspirational one out there! A low-roof, swb E150; yet its the most wonderful place there IS... not sure whether to call you an engineer or an artist! Thank you.
I've often thought you could find a skylight that would work for people under 5'6" so they could stand up inside a regular size van to change clothes and cook!
I can tell you from experience. High Tops add 1000lbs...I can stand up in it. If I'm close to the front at 5'7"....Was it worth it? Only if you update the rear springs to E-250 springs. As these Econolines eat Front Pads even using Factory Ford Heavy duty pads. And Don't use anything but Ford Front Rotors. As the off brand ones warp within 500 miles...Then you get the death wobble. That scares the shit out of you..Getting off the highway...
Beautiful wood work! Nice job! -- on the pull up tray on the side of your cabinet, I put a backing piece on mine, and a 1x3 leg that drops down, with a padding. and that way, when you pull up the - useable top, for a stove or such, you got a real secure support! Liked it when you mentioned the cubby hole to pull yourself up! I am working on that problem right now! My health deteriated and I don't have my balance, and strength to do what I use to do. One other thing I just did today, I wanted more floor space by my door. So I put a 3/4" Ply piece on the bottom of the door. Then put 2 heavy duty brackets on that , with a - like a shelf on that which is even with the floor, and now I have that for setting my chair on, as before it would go into the well/ step! Keep it up! Like your work! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the feedback and info on your van. The table that I showed ended up not being stout enough for the client so I reengineered it to use some locking arms. Further, the client wanted to have a place to set up her stove at the back of the van so we made a drop down table out back as well. Always evolving the design as it sounds like you are as well. Keep it up!!
I'm just blown away by not only the detail but all the amenities you put into this Econoline. Who says you need a high roof to have a useable camper van
All the years I’ve been watching these van builds I’ve never come across yours. Just subscribed. Beautiful job. I’m amazed at these much older vans with so many miles being built out. I’m shopping now for a used van, and see tons of Eseries out there running into 300,000 miles!😲 So, May end up with one myself, don’t like V8 gas consumption but looking more for a GMC Savannah or Express. Suspension 250 or more for better weight handling. Thanks for showing your excellent work.
Hi, if you don't like the v8 , it may cost you more in power and how much you can put into your buildout! So, sometimes it is a tradeoff. I downsized from a 32 ft. Class A, to a Shuttle Bus, - which I didn't finish, to a 97 E-350 1 ton cargo van, with a V-10. It had 273,000 on it when I bought it. It should go to around 425,000 miles or more. But I have the power to pull my 4 Wheel Dr. Jeep! Which is also my storage right now. When I'm parked , I can use my van or Jeep. I get about 10 MPG. Like I said, it can be a tradeoff, but everyone has different needs! Good luck, and it doesn't have to be new to last a long time! RD on the road!
No locks on the drawers under the wardrobe? First left turn and out they come, especially if loaded with canned goods. Disregard if I missed it but didn't hear you mention any locks.
Good eye! The original setup had some catches on all of the doors and drawers but the tension wasn't enough so I redid them to a more legit RV catch. You are correct, it's amazing how little G force is needed to get the doors and drawers swinging!
I really like the way you built the cabinetry with no handles needed, good for things to be smooth when in a tight space where you bump into everything. Though in the future.. OPEN THE DAMN FRIDGE! LOL geez we who are still deciding which fridge to purchase, would love to see what the inside can hold and mention the model or size Truck Fridge.. beautiful build.
Sorry for not showing the inside!!! Its a TF65 which is their DC only version. Here's a link to it: www.truckfridge.com/product/semi-truck-and-commercial-truck-refrigerator/
It will run for a few days off a charged battery without any inputs but you are correct, would be much better with a solar panel added. We are adding a 100W flexible panel to the roof and that should keep it going non-stop with no issues.
@@forayconcept3389 Never have I seen a Van like mine, super rare I think. Most Dodge campers are the 250. So ya to keep it alive is something, already had the motor rebuilt at $4000. Basically main idea was to insulate properly (using rockwool and reflectix) and remove old carpet (to replace with Thermal underlay and vinyl). Installing new led lights inside and 12v vent/fan. Be great when it's done. Maybe I can show it sometime!!! Cheers 🍻
Thank you! I hope to put a video out soon showing the inside of a fridge that is just like the one in this van. Should give you an idea of what it looks like. Feel free to email me and I can send you a link to the actual fridge.
Thanks. While I understand, investing into an econoline platform isn't the worst idea though IMO. Plus, it isn't as expensive as you might think for a basic conversion like this. Cheers!
You did a fantastic job with your creativity building this van out. I’m in the process of building mine, you gave me some good ideas. You mentioned a bezel around the windows, are they made of wood? I like the idea plus the clean line look. Beautiful job.
Thanks so much and glad there were some ideas there for ya. This was our first build so we’ve learned a lot since but still pull from this particular build often. The window surrounds were a 1/4” fiberboard. Inexpensive and easy to work with, paint out really well. Downside is they don’t hold up to moisture well so I’d suggest a 1/4” plywood over the fiberboard. Happy van building!!
great build and definitely one of the best use of space ive seen. Would you mind giving more info on how or if you insulated the van walls and ceiling?
Where does she stand to use the sink and counter? Outside, in the doorway where it’s uneven footing or walk around the back wear the folding shelf is out of reach??
It looks great and I love the build but I have question about your use of wire nuts vs. heat shrink and solder and the use of individual fuses in the circuit after the modulator for dimming. Personally, for such a high quality build I'd expect the level of craftsmanship to carryover to the electrical. I'm also curious your choice of piano hinges vs. a hidden style?
Good points and I am using fewer and fewer wire nuts as I learn more and are able to pre-plan my wiring harness better. For sure, solder and heat shrink are a better way to go. I don't recall exactly how I wired in the dimmer but I agree, it should be after the fuse/main switch. The hinges were used for a few reasons. One was to add some stability to the doors along their edge, another was minimum space and also to allow for inset/flush doors. Always pros/cons but piano hinges have their place. I use the euro hinges when needed. Thanks for the feedback!!
@@forayconcept3389 It's a great looking build and i admire the level of craftsmanship and thought that went into it. If I had the funds, I'd bring my extended 28" hightop 7.3 to you in a heartbeat.
@@740seth Thanks for the kudos! I've got an Econoline w/ 24" Fiberine top coming up from SoCal in a month or so. Will be my first hightop to do a full conversion on and I'm excited to see it take form!!
It was a cargo originally but the windows fit within the factory window locations. They were added prior to me getting the van so I can't say for certain what was removed but typically there are some sheetmetal supports that get cut out that aren't structural to the van rather than to the metal to keep it from deflecting and vibrating.
Thank you. The sink is for rinsing/washing but doesn't have a faucet or fresh water system. The complexity to add fresh water is quite drastic so we kept this as simple as possible while still giving the client a way to do some cleaning up while inside the van.
Wise to be suspicious! Only used fir or mahogany for the solid wood which is OK as an exterior wood. That said, it opens up liability for things to move around and change. Total cost on these is 10-15K depending on the kit.
I just saw this build a bit ago and really like the way it turned out. It' simple and has a great use of color and natural wood grain. I can't quite tell what the green material is. Is it a laminate surface or just a really nice paint job? Love your work! Had to subscribe!
Thanks!! The green is a painted wood product in most cases. Used the Rustoleum rattle cans from Home Depot, I think the color was "moss green" and if you take your time and apply 3 or more coats you can get a solid finish out of it. In some cases I rolled on a primer using a foam roller, that gave a texture to the material before applying the paint.
Thanks and go for it! I started with a Transit that I converted while I used it for side work and travel. That started conversations which then led to my first builds for others.
I have never seen a van w the kitchen turned in that direction. Usually they are flush against wall, longways. What was the thought behind that design choice? I liked it.
Main reason for having the galley in this orientation was so that it could be accessed from inside the van and outside the van. Especially the fridge, with this location you can get into it from the outside of the van which eliminates a lot of trips up and down.
This is by far, the finest econoline build I've seen on youtube. The attention to detail, and the overall layout is FANTASTIC.
Thank you so much for watching and giving your feedback. Truly appreciated!!

Thank you so much!!
Great jib. What product did you use on the cut edge of the floor at both doors.
Beautiful work. Nice layout. I wouldn’t put that much money into an older van though.
Thanks. While I understand, investing into an econoline platform isn't the worst idea though IMO. Plus, it isn't as expensive as you might think for a basic conversion like this. Cheers!
Fab! Loev the placement of the kitchen too!
Thanks! It's quite functional to have it in that location and makes it much easier to access some of the kitchen from outside the van.
Beautifully finished!
Thank you so much 😀
Incredible man. Great job!
Thank you! Hope to have the next build uploaded here soon.
Faucet and water pump for sink?????
Nice build😎🍺🍺🍺🍺
Nope, just a drain. It keeps it super simple while still allowing for a place to wash up. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Great job... now the question is how much money do I need for a conversion like that?
They start around $10k and go up from there. So many variables that I can't say for sure. Plus the market and available options keeps changing.
Wow! I'm started to look for an Econoline to convert. This is incredible! Thanks and you may be hearing from me down the line.
Sounds great! Glad you are inspired and let me know if I can ever be of assistance.
best e150 video ever
awesome build. i loved all the ideas in this..
Glad you liked it!
Great Job! Enjoyed it! Hope to see your next build soon.✌🤟👍
Thanks so much and glad you liked it! Hope to have more out soon!!
Excellent workmanship! I’m looking forward to seeing more videos 👍🏻
More to come! Hoping to get more regular on the uploads and more dialed in on the content. Let us know what you'd like to see.
What a beautiful build
Thank you!!
very well done . looks factory.
Thank you!
You did a really good job! It's very beautiful.
Thank you so much!
great build and definitely one of the best use of space ive seen. Would you mind giving more info on how or if you insulated the van walls and ceiling?
Thank you. There was minimal insulation put in this van. Partly due to budget but also due to use as the client will be outside much more than in.
every thing is good and awsom but did you think about a shower
Our client wasn’t looking to add any pressurized water to this build so a shower wasn’t part of the design. Thanks for the comment and watching!!
I love it , very clean design.
Glad you like it!
You have done a great job man. Great built
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice and neat .... It gives me better idea...thanks you for sharing
Most welcome 😊
The AC in the 99 E150 enconline van just replaced the compressor for the ac why isnot running cold
@@forayconcept3389 I hope a video will follow.
Well made sir , beautiful
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback and compliment.
Great eye for detail
Thank you!
just wondering..if this was a cargo van originally it would have had a bunch of pillars on the side..were they cut to accommodate those big windows ?
It was a cargo originally but the windows fit within the factory window locations. They were added prior to me getting the van so I can't say for certain what was removed but typically there are some sheetmetal supports that get cut out that aren't structural to the van rather than to the metal to keep it from deflecting and vibrating.
@@forayconcept3389 thanks, I like that your videos are "real world" and affordable..no mention of essential oils and locally sourced organic avocados
Beautiful build, one question though. How do you use the sink, since I don't see a faucet?
Thank you. The sink is for rinsing/washing but doesn't have a faucet or fresh water system. The complexity to add fresh water is quite drastic so we kept this as simple as possible while still giving the client a way to do some cleaning up while inside the van.
Im suspicious of so much wood. I like the electric set up. And its simplicity. Great work. Can i ask for project total cost🤔??
Wise to be suspicious! Only used fir or mahogany for the solid wood which is OK as an exterior wood. That said, it opens up liability for things to move around and change. Total cost on these is 10-15K depending on the kit.
Beautiful build!!!
Beautiful fit and finish!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey neighbor. Nice build!
Hey, thanks! You guys in Oregon too?
@@forayconcept3389 Yup. I'll stop by sometime.
U really like the build. Its kind of my dream to start one of these conversion businesses like you have done. Very good video!
Great built!
Awesome ad timing, you threw the light switch by the bed, making everything dark…it cut to the ad, then you came back turning the light back on.
Those google people know what they are doing I guess. LOL
Great video! Why couldn’t you mount any solar on top of the van?
Thanks! There was only a few inches of clearance between van and garage door header but we did put on a 100W flexible panel this last summer.
Great build....you did a great job
Thank you! Cheers!
I really like this build!
Thank you!! Appreciate the feedback.
