Vowels are the beauty in singing. Bel Canto student of two years. You place your self in that vowel and you can blend them to make different sounds. Vibrato comes from vowels and a stead air flow. You build this over time in to muscle memory.
So are you trying to say that vowel modification shouldn't be done at all? Or is the point of these exercises to encourage us to avoid vowel modification for as long as possible, so that when we do have to modify that it's as subtle as possible? Because it seems that it's impossible to reach the edges of the range without some level of vowel modification. Already in this exercise, when getting to the A and B above middle C, I can feel that my Ees are more open than they were a few notes down (and actually, feels similar on the lowest notes in my range, like the G and A below middle C.
i have a question, i hope you read this, but im so curious about the note sam smith execute in WAAAAAALL in the song writtings on the wall, is healthy or no , and thanks :)

Vowels must remain pure! Yeah, go for it! Work on your articulation, this is advice you can charge $ for, make sure ppl can understand what you’re singing, which 99% of the hit records out there don’t demonstrate. The ‘activity’ @6:43 is simply hilarious. Western, English spoken vowel shapes? You mean Western Australian English spoken vowel shapes right?
@@DrDanRobinson I'm sorry but I have to agree with Richard. Vowel modification is essential to singing, and to open throat technique. Moving the jaw too much like how we do when we speak simply sounds bad when singing because some vowels are too wide or too close to correctly hit a certain pitch
@@ahmad_9071 what he is saying is pure nonsense. You cannot maintain pure vowels when singing through your whole range. You have to modify them in order to hit certain pitches or also have an open sound

We seem to be thinking about the same topics at the same time! I just posted an introductory video on vowel modification yesterday.
Hello, can you please tell me the list of vowels in the second exercise? I can't quite understand them. Many thanks.
Sure: /AH/ /AY/ /EE/ /EYE/ /OH/ /OO/

Richard, I'm having trouble determining whether or not you are being sarcastic.
