  • The buzz and excitement at the ‪@AtlasGunworks‬ booth at the 2024 ‪@shotshow‬ was nothing short of electrifying, and one of the reasons for the excitement was for the release of their news 4.6" 9mm 2011, the Apollo!
    For any of you that are familiar with their best selling model, the Athena (the goddess of war), this is her brother. If you have not yet watched my video on why the Athena is an exceptional all-around competition pistol you can see that here • Atlas Athena: The One ...
    Of course I've since had a few shifts in my nuanced and ever growing preferences for favorites when it comes to pistols Atlas makes. The Apollo is no exception. In short, he is an Athena with a ported barrel & slide.
    While I could say this about any Atlas purchase decision, I feel like it is most true in 2024 to say that if you can only have one; Apollo may very well be your best all-around choice. Of course there will be a much more in-depth overview of this amazing blaster with range footage and tests coming soon, but for now enjoy this quick look from the Atlas SHOT Show booth, and let me know what you think!

    🏆MY GOAL🏆
    I created this channel as a way to answer most frequently asked questions I was receiving on other social media platforms, and it has evolved into much more than that. Ultimately, I'm here to share what I learn about the ever evolving practice of performance based shooting, skill development, gear, and personal insights with the hopes of helping others move beyond just being "gun owners" and becoming active practitioners with their firearms.
    We all start from ground zero. I remember not knowing where to start and wishing that there was someone to help me, I love passing on what I've gathered along the way; from skill development to gear selection.

    debating on the Apollo or the Titan. Already have the Erebus. For range mostly.

      If it's just for the range, and you already have an Erebus, I think you'd really enjoy the Titan. It's got that Cadillac feel. Hard to disappoint with any of them though.

    Just subscribed, love the videos!! Shooting with a staccato p limited. Thinking getting the Athena but I just saw the Apollo, can you shoot this gun on limited or open division?

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  7 місяців тому

      The Apollo is ported which is counted as a type of compensator in USPSA, so you'd get bumped to Open division. With the Athena (since it doesn't have ports) you can shoot in Limited Minor (iron sights), Limited Optics, OR Open divisions. With solid fundamentals you can get pretty far in Open with it, but just understand most shooters will be using race guns with frame mounted dots and compensators, so your sweet spot with the Athena will be Limited Optics.

      Sorry for the late reply, I just got the Athena! Man you can really shoot faster with the Athena. A little more kick than my staccato p limited but it goes back to zero as advertised. When I went back to the store website after 3 days I saw they have the Artemis. Did I miss out compared to the Athena? It should shoot flatter but not as fast?

      It’s Atlas ported. Because no one else could port an existing handgun.

    Hi Sean did you get a chance to shoot the EOS and the Apollo. I am curious how they compare to the Ares. Thanks

    • @js2009-g9f
      @js2009-g9f 7 місяців тому

      TLDR - There is no reason you go to Ares if you want porting. If you don't want the porting you can choose Athena.

      They are both some of the flattest shooting pistols Atlas has ever made. Both out-perform their Ares counterparts in shoot-ability by sheer virtue of their steel frames. The extra 4 oz makes all the difference. With that in mind though, I LOVE the Ares, and it is 4 oz lighter than the EOS. It is incredibly shootable, with just a little bit sacrificed in order to allow for a lighter carry experience.

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  7 місяців тому

      EOS is a substantially better shooting experience over the Ares. The Athena is great, but for keeping the dot in your line of sight longer, and less muzzle flip the Apollo wins hands down.

    Wonder how the Apollo performance compares to an Artemis? 🤔

    • @SeanGoBoom
      @SeanGoBoom  7 місяців тому

      Both are VERY "flat shooting" but the Apollo has less muzzle flip due to the ports. The Artemis is more versatile as far as what competition divisions you can use it in.

    No Way $6,000 for that gun... that would be foolish to buy it.. just my opinion.

      Just like I tell my students when shopping for optics, rifles, pistols, or anything else... if YOU at YOUR current skill level, experience, and frequency of use cannot tell the difference between a more expensive model and a more affordable model, then absolutely don't pay for it. Invest your time and money into training, ammo, and events that will help you further develop your skills. However, just because YOU can't tell the difference, doesn't mean there isn't a substantial one.
