  • In this meditation we investigate the field of awareness in which all thoughts, feelings and perceptions arise and vanish. We contemplate ourself as this open, limitless, allowing field in which the experience of the body and world arises.

    Blending Rupert Spira with Bernardo Kastrup is a complete education in the discovery of Self. Then add a touch of Shamani Jain and Gregg Braden to get a taste of what is possible knowing who you really are.

    I have an agenda with my negative thoughts and feelings, because it seems that they leave traces in the body…they hurt and evoke stress, contraction, sickness. So, there is identification with the limited body, the fear of dead. The sense of location, a center in a 3D-space, a little me that cannot see beyond the horizon, that cannot experience what “others” experience, that cannot recall any awareness before 1972, that blocks the whole message. This conventional personal reality, that is supposed to be a belief, is so convincing, that I rather stop trying to understand this. In meditation, there is a taste of inner peace behind or in between thoughts, the ‘experience’ of all in movement, no subject-objects, no distance, but afterwards, how can I know this is closer to the truth, and not just a therapy to make me feel good? Still, there is a drive, a seeking, that keeps coming here, as if there is a kind of promise, that once seen what I simply cannot see, that this little me can be dropped, there is an awakening, and the end of suffering. But…this is just the same mechanism of wanting to get rid of something, longing for a better experience in the future. So, who is chasing his own tail 😬 ? It seems that the I that wants to drop this little me has to be let go of too. The battle continues until it does not, apparently,

    I still don't understand how awareness extends beyond the body. Wouldn't I be able to be aware of anything in the world and report on it accurately if awareness has no limits? But I am limited to what my senses can perceive.

    • @sammiller9855
      @sammiller9855 5 років тому +5

      In my understanding, awareness is dimensionless. It doesn't "extend past" the body nor is it limited to the body. The experience of the body and the environment is like a dream appearing in and as awareness. In a dream, we can experience a world of vast space that is illusionary, that objectively is dimensionless. When we are awake, the mind creates a similar virtual reality, but with input from sensory stimuli.

    • @RealMe-ju9hh
      @RealMe-ju9hh 5 років тому +2

      Shinobi_Madero, Rupert uses the dream metaphor. When you are dreaming there is a dream ‘you’ that is apparently limited to being that person’s sense perception. In reality though, you are the brain creating the WHOLE dream, not just the person. Even though there is the promising experience you are the single person but you are actually the whole dream, all the people that appear in it, all objects. The same applies for awareness and the apparent world.

      Practically speaking awareness extends through the situational now as a reflecting with connecting yes. There are though less tangible omniscient qualities or siddhis such as telepathy, remote viewing.

    “In order for a thought to appear, there must be some medium”
    Why is that? Is that really true? Is it not just an exercise of mind/ego that makes this statement?

    • @johnxantoro5511
      @johnxantoro5511 4 роки тому

      I agree. There has to be nothing. The real question is: Who cares?

    • @connectwithhim

      Reflect in your experience. You seem to be deflecting this understanding in favor of *another thought.* Follow along with the meditation instead of trying to grab at an answer or resist Rupert's words. Do you experience thoughts appearing in your awareness? Your thoughts are Not your awareness. Your awareness is the space within which the thought appears. NOW: What is there between your thoughts? What is that field? Sit with and experience your conscious awareness for a while. Best to you...

    I am currently observing the moon as it shines brilliant light to the earth. Is it correct to assume that the light i can see beaming from the moon this night is light that has been absorbed and stored earlier during the day by the moon, and is now being given off refractionally?

    • @elfishpresleybarbiebreath1116
      @elfishpresleybarbiebreath1116 Рік тому

      No. The light from the sun is bounced back from the moon in an instant. It is not stored in the fashion you state here.

    When he says field of awareness, where is it? In my head or outside my body or both? I don't get what he means?

    • @sammiller9855
      @sammiller9855 5 років тому +11

      That's the great mystery of awareness. We can't say where it is. It is not locatable--it has no shape, form or color. Awareness is empty of attributes, besides being aware and open, and yet all experience "appears" in it, as it. The term "field" is just figurative, another word for medium. It is more accurate and expansive to say that the experience of the body appears in awareness, rather than the other way around.

      @@TomTom-df9ph Like John said above, it is no-thing. It's beyond that of what we want, and have to and must accept, be and do. It just "is". And you are that.

    It’s pronounced “ish-you” not “iss-you”. Lol. Sorry but he doesn’t have a very good command of the English language. No just funnin’ though. He’s the most effective, efficient, and direct teacher I’ve heard. He doesn’t waste a single word. It reminds me of Bruce Lee’s martial art at it’s highest evolution before he died.
    I took classes in of that art - the Ted Wong stuff (his senior student).
    No wasted movements. He came to the conclusion that “trapping”’, like the wing chun he did, was a disease. There’s some kind of parallel because the mind is a trap that keeps you trapped in the imagined self. At it’s highest evolution, that martial art include a lot of elements from fencing. I wonder if Rupert Spira ever did some fencing?
