do you not ever buy store bought dog treats. The ingredients are killing your dog. The same goes for cat treats especially Temptations. I fed Temptations for a year and unfortunately I still give him a few. But I looking up so many articles on cat food and treats I have found it's very hard and expensive to find the proper treats that are good for them

So glad I found this video! I bought a dot mat and made a ton of these treats (with oat flour). My dog is small so I love having already-tiny treats that I don't need to cut or break up. I try to limit how much cheese he eats though so I will play around with the recipe so I can use less. This video has inspired me to try other homemade recipes. There are some downsides for me: First, the need to refrigerate--I like to keep my treats handy in containers throughout my house, which I can't do with these. Second: they bounce and roll! If I toss them they sometimes wind up far from my dog so I have to adjust my technique LOL. Tips: **An offset spatula makes spreading and leveling a lot easier. The mixture stuck to a rubber spatula. **I cooked the liver from frozen. It's harder to get the wrapper off but the liver itself is much less gross this way. **My treats did not pop right out like in the video--I think cooking them longer or cooling them more helps, but I"ll need to confirm. But even with it taking a while to pop out all the treats, it was still worth it--I have so many treats now in the freezer! Thank you!
I just want to thank you so MUCH. I have six dogs and the cost of treats every month was getting expensive. They love these treats so much and it's perfect for training them. I'm going to add more flour with the extra batter to make a dough and make them cookies!! they're going to love it.
Just made this! One mat made 5.5 oz of finished treats. That’s almost a whole store-bought bag and I’ll probably get at least 4 trays, maybe more. Awesome!
This is awesome thank you so much! I just got a Shiba and have lots of training to do. I also dread having to buy treats from the store. So when I saw that silicone sheet I knew this is what I had to do. I really like that you can make them yourself, Knowing the ingredients and being able to make the tiniest portions too
I get the Stewart's freeze dried liver treats, but a softer chew during training works nest for my dog so he doesn't get so distracted. Freeze dried is naturally going to cost more than these treats because it is an all meat, single ingredient. But for training, I'd have no problem giving these to my dog.
Ok so I finished making the treats and my dog is OBSESSED with it them! I have never seen him that obsessed with food before unless it’s straight up hot dog but this is much healthier and cheaper! Over 1,000 treat for only a few bucks!

I'm keen to work with her though to stimulate her mind. I definitely wouldn't want to give her pieces of sausage which I've seen people advocate on UA-cam - too many unknown ingredients.
That is a lot of liver! Be careful folks. I've tried this recipe three times. First time, I just smeared the mixture across a cookie sheet about 1/4-inch thick but during cooking, the mixture blistered up so I wound up with two thin layers. The dogs liked it but it was a bit of a hassle to handle. Second and third times, I used the blue 468-cavity silicone mold. The video skips straight from beginning to smear the mixture onto the mold with a spatula to a perfect, fully-loaded mold but I found that a rubber spatula wound up pressing the mixture into the mold, then sucking it right back out again. A kitchen scraper worked great, though. Held at a very shallow angle, the scraper forced the mixture into the cavities and simultaneously scraped the top of the mold clean. Unfortunately, when done, the treats are about the size of chocolate chips; not the best size for handing off to my big dogs without getting my fingers nipped. It was also something of a hassle getting the cooked treats out of the mold, especially when cooked to a softer consistency - It took nearly a half-hour to punch all 468 softer treats out of the mold one-by-one. Given the hassle, tiny treat size, and mess, I'm probably going back to storebought while I re-think the DIY approach.

So, I had bought a pound of liver and I believe that the package she showed in the video was a one pound package, which according to the package contained "4 liver slices". I had the same question and to confirm, I looked up the weight of a beef liver and found, through online sources that "1 beef liver" weighs 10 to 15 pounds! Clearly she did not use 30 pounds of liver, so I concluded she used 3 of the four slices (i.e. 3/4 of a pound of raw liver). I used that quantity and is worked fine.

Great question about a week or so in refrigerator or a few months in the freezer.
Tnx😊😊
I can't tell -- are these crunchy (like kibble) or softer?
depends on how long you bake them. 15-17 minutes for softer treats and 20-22 minutes for crunchy.
Where in the world am I going to find beef livers of that kind? I've never seen them in my store.
I found them at Kroger.
where can i buy the baking mold?
Dot Style Silicone Pan: amzn.to/3iegm53
Can I use Greek yogurt and put it in the oven?
Oh! I've not tried it, but sounds like a good option.
@@CanineCountryAcademy Would you have any idea how long your treats would take in an oven instead of a dehydrator?
I only have a round dehydrator so I will be unable to put the silicone pan/mat in.
@@taylajoseph3971 I don't. I'm inexperienced with a dehydrator.
Can you tell me what the ingredients are please
All of the ingredients and amounts are in the description.
is this recipe of for puppy training please :)
It can absolutely be used with puppies.
Can you replace the beef liver with chicken or something else?
Absolutely! I would just exchange the same amount of the desired protein.
@@CanineCountryAcademy thanks so much! My dog is going to love these treats!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone do this with oat flour? That's all I can get around here quickly and I think it's more absorbent than rice flour. Maybe I should up the amount a little?
Is this a good recipe for puppies?
Yes, if your puppy is doing well with a variety of foods.
Do these stink as bad as cooking liver?
I boil chicken liver cut it then bake them in little pieces....only treats my pooch likes. Cost less than $2
That's a great idea!
Thank you! My labs love your recipe
That's awesome to hear!
How long do they last?
1 week refrigerated and several months frozen
Are these fox terriers?
Toy Fox Terriers and Rat Terriers
2:45 what is that called?
Can I use rehydrated freeze dried liver?
I wouldn't. Unless you try hydrating it first.
CanineCountryAcademy yes I hydrated it first
Ty, going to try the chicken livers and some other alternatives
Beef liver smells so bad to me. Ewww
Recipe appreciated
That's a great alternative.
If you bake them for the full duration of 20-22 minutes do they still refrigeration or can I store them in an air tight container in the cupboard?
Great question! Because there are no preservatives I wouldn't risk not them in the cupboard.
Thank you! These are great and I'll definitely be making them for my puppers! Keep up the amazingly work 😊
Why are terriers nails always so long! My terrier mix is the same
My senior male Curly's are long. Thankfully the other three are pretty well maintained. When I first got Terriers I didn't know to keep them short you were supposed to clip or file weekly. Did you know that?
CanineCountryAcademy not when I first got him. I do it weekly and they are pretty short but can still click on the floor. It’s like his quicks won’t budge but they are not that long at all just not a short as my lab
Can I substitute the rice flour with regular flour?
Absolutely!
How many cups were all the beef liver specifically?
I'm not sure. I just went by number of livers lol
CanineCountryAcademy lol
So, I had bought a pound of liver and I believe that the package she showed in the video was a one pound package, which according to the package contained "4 liver slices". I had the same question and to confirm, I looked up the weight of a beef liver and found, through online sources that "1 beef liver" weighs 10 to 15 pounds! Clearly she did not use 30 pounds of liver, so I concluded she used 3 of the four slices (i.e. 3/4 of a pound of raw liver). I used that quantity and is worked fine.
@@harriottchiropractic2385 thank you so much
Does anyone know if I were to make this with chicken how many breasts I would use?
I'd probably just do one, if it's pretty big.
I wouldn't add the cheese because to much cheese is bad for dogs
Too much of anything food related is bad. You know your dog best.
Can you list the ingredients and amounts? Closed caption was in Chinese for some reason. Thanks

I feel like I have done psychological damage to my poor puppy for having the smell of the cooking treats torturing the poor little guy. He was literally pacing around with his nose high in the air as he could get it, just sniffing away.
Awww...the anticipation is worth the reward.
Will these work without the flour?
I'm not sure. It's worth giving it a try.
Meat and ingredients dose cost money as well not just $6.00 lol
True. You can get more treats when you make them yourself.
Pre-packaged grated parm "cheese?" People shouldn't even be eating that.
I hear you. I like to keep my recipes simple and this works for me.
@@CanineCountryAcademy i just bought a French mastiff he’s 9weeks old . Do you have experience with that breed I’m trying to find some help with my pup.
@@jaenotez9240 we don't often see the French Mastiffs. We work with a lot of Cane Corso pups and other mastiffs. Feel free to reach out to see how we can help. www.caninecountryacademy.com/contact-us
5:42 fourteen hundred??? what
No to eggs!!
You can swap for applesauce.
watch out with cheese because of the lactose .... not good for dogs. and alot of callories.
Yes, if dogs have issues with certain foods or cheese they would want to avoid these ingredients.
Wish my Chorkie would eat these she hates any type of liver or organ meat raw or cooked.😩
Aww that's a bummer. What if you substituted canned chicken breast?
@@CanineCountryAcademy Thanks I will try that!
