Love me some Watership Down; the movie, the tv series, and the book. I read the book in the 8th grade and I can proudly say I have been clinically depressed since.
"Its a movie about how horrible life would be for a sentient fish in a sushi shop" *shows a fish dying horribly* First add that pops up: "at red lobster we have the freshest fish and meatiest lobster." I just had to laugh at the irony 😂😂😂
In this context it's like saying, "We wait a long time to kill the fish, letting them think long and hard about their doom and our lobsters are the *FLESHIEST*
Flatfish represents ourselves, he can survive by hiding in his own little space but is imprisoned by his own thoughts and past including with what happend with his wife, he blames himself on what happen which represents our regrets in life and how we are having a hard time of letting go of it. He thought that surviving is okay but he is never really living.
I think it just represents shut ins in general cause outgoing people are not like this. Regardless, it is important because of the growing number of shut ins in Korean society.
Not really...those movies are way better in maintaining the tension, while Padak, even though there is the threat of death of looming, has too many moments of pure dialogue and, without a change in scenery, it becomes a drag to watch until the next, interesting scene comes along. Also, each character in this film I could care less if they died than the characters from those other films you mentioned.
@@JazzStation95 That said, despite all the grim scenes, Watership Down has an overall happy ending, with the villainous rabbits getting defeated and the heroic rabbits finding their new home. The same can't be said about Padak...
If people actually think this is a Finding Nemo rip-off it must because they’re both about fish. I see no other similarities. I honestly just can’t believe how shockingly dark it all is. My mouth dropped and hung open when you told me how it ended. Idk who this movie is directed towards but I would be petrified if I saw this at any age below 17. It’s giving me a minor existential crisis now. What a wild concept and an even crazier execution.
Having a clown fish on the poster probably dossn't help it's image of being a potential cheap rip off ala The Little Panda Fighter being a Kung Fu Panda rip off and very clearly trying to lure people in based on that.
Probably also because its gritty animation style. We know its intended, but if you only look at it surface level, you might think it's a poorly animated movie that only had clownfish to ride off of Finding Nemo's popularity.
The fact that the main character dies and in such a horrifying way is one of the best subversión of expectations since one usually doesn’t expect the protagonist to die. Not to mention the imagery is just so gruesome!
I showed this movie to my dad and he watched it but fell asleep so he watched it again and texted me his thoughts Heres some of what he said: “There’s no happy ending. It’s sad, twisted and sadistic.” “They are all being tortured daily as they watch their friends die” “This is a pretty sadistic movie”
@@feistybearproductions6478 He didn’t really say. But he doesn’t like animated movies to start of with so along with his comments I think it’s safe to say no.
@@laitdejabot9890 My point exactly. Although I think he was referring to the act of watching the movie and creating it as sadistic. He may have thought it was making light of a dark situation.
EXACTLY! it's so annoying- also, even if the film IS a rip-off or close enough to be one, there are some 'rip-offs' with quality that only share one aspect. For example, the 'A Turtles Tale' movies come to mind. They share 1 aspect besides water and fishes, and that is the first one being a giant travel movie and the second being a 'save my parents from a giant (and beautifully made) aquarium move. Even with this, there are still enough differences for it to not be a rip-off, yet way too many people view them as ripoffs. then again, might be my nostalgia talking, or maybe my love for how BEAUTIFULLY they animated that SNAKE IN THE FIRST ONE---
It very rare to see that the main hero actually fails and dies in a movie. Most producers usually have them victorious at the end, so I have to give props on going out of the norm and show that even the main leads, aren't always going to be successful.
I read Watership Down and I was curious what makes people find it depressing. It definitely has some moments, but I always saw the end as happy. They were able to live and survive and grow their own home. We all die in the end, what makes it sad is how it happens. At least that's my view, I'm curious what others think.
Fun fact: in the USA the word when the fish is flopping around the word u would is flop or plop. In Korea it’s padak (파닥).I know this bc I’m a korean. Edit: padak’s name is a pun
I also want to know this, and is it free on Amazon? I’d love to watch it, even though I doubt I’d ever want to eat at a sushi place. I like seafood yes, but I prefer my dinner very much already dead and cooked.
RedX Z the differences are that porpoises are mostly smaller than dolphins and tend to live in smaller groups, as well as having different physical features than dolphins.
Fun fact: It was really marketed as a Finding Nemo clone under the Padak title (not the OG title). Thus the movie posters having a similar kid friendly vibe to them.
4:54 “He also *claims* that he’s from the ocean…” That reminds me of a subplot that was originally written for Gill in _Finding Nemo_ , but was later cut, presumably for using the typical “liar revealed” story.
At first i thought “wait a sec, I have pet fish that I keep in a tank. I must be horrible” but then I realized that I don’t kill them. In fact, I had these two cherry barbs that died a week ago. But when I looked up their average life span, I was happy. Their average lifespan was four years, up to a maximum of seven years. I had them for around seven or eight years, and that doesn’t even include how many years they were alive before I got them.
There's definitely a moral dissonance between fish consumption and fish keeping. I think as long as the fish's requirements are met, and they're placed in a stable environment, they'll live long and happy lives.
I own a tarantula cage and I have stuff to maintain it as well. The catch is that I don't own a tarantula, so when new people come over to my apartment, I always make sure to show them my "tarantula", but when they ask where it is, I simply reply "Oh he's a slippery one, he tends to bust out of his cage every now and then. Don't worry though, if you see him, just tell me so I can return him to his cage". Their shock is priceless and it keeps them on edge the whole time.
I would argue captivity is better than the wild in a lot of cases if it's done right. Plenty of room, companionship, mental stimulation, and no fear of starving or becoming a meal.
Another main part of this movie is that it revolves around fish being eaten alive. It's a type of food preparation in some places. If anyone realizes that all the fish are moving when they are eaten its because the belief that food is best when fresh and fish are easily and quickly able to be eaten raw. So it conveys what it's like to basically be butchered alive and watch yourself be eaten. This movie should not be compared to Finding Nemo. XD
Yin Yang Fish in China and Ikizukuri in Japan are two fish dishes served with the fish still alive to patrons. Those dishes are VERY reminiscent to what is clearly seen in this film. People seem to be missing this important point, so thanks for further making a point I was gonna make as well!
Yeon Sang-Ho was actually really popular with his animated films The King of Pigs and The Fake. But he only got more popular when he transitioned to live action starting with Train to Busan.
Loved this movie. Fish are often even as far as animals humans kill for food goes- dismissed. To the point I know people who think just eating fish makes you vegetarian! Yet recent science shows us that just like other animals fish are sentient and alive and feel pain (something until more recently wasn’t believed by the majority at all) Most people will be aware a pig is smart or a cow feels pain but fish get much less consideration and to see a movie explore a story like this with fish as the characters is wonderfully dark and thought provoking It reminds me of films like ringing bell chirin and leafie a hen into the wild, watership down or the plague dogs And those are all movies I really adore I also loved the themes of just surviving vs seeking something better and how most ppl will settle on just surviving to avoid the risks seeking betterment comes with its a good philosophy to explore
My betta was so smart. He had his own 10 gallon tank and would move rocks around and sleep in his favorite decorations, follow our fingers and knock snails off the wall for fun.

1:18 watching that part with my friends I actually screamed because I had actual tears, what with the song and the stark change from beautiful 2D animation to the normal 3D animation. It's an underrated movie, I'm happy it's getting more attraction.
The sushi restaruant anecdote explains alot since eating live fish like that is a Japanese and Taiwanese thing. The Taiwanese version adds an extra layer of brutality by partially frying the fish without killing it (Taiwan has banned the dish iirc).

Imagine going to Walmart with your Grandma to get a movie to watch. You heard of a fish movie that supposed to have a really heartwarming fun story but you couldn't really remember the name. You saw a fish on a movie cover and assumed that it was the movie. It's name was Padak. You got home and put it in your DVD player. And you saw this.
I'm scared of being Padak. I struggle a lot in life but I try to fight as hard as I can so I can reach my dream (which is basically just living in nature and having a job that doesn't kill me, nothing fancy). But lately I've gotten more and more sick (chronical illness, heart issues and ptsd) and chances are that I will die before I can reach my "freedom". This realization hit hard and this movie made me even more anxious. I'm already "swimming" as hard and as fast as I can but I fear that in the end I'll not be able to make it. I know this movies messages are also different ones but this stuck with me.
So, I stopped this review 5 minutes in and decided to watch the movie before hearing anymore about it. I've never been so intrigued so early in a review to do that, and I'm glad I did. Padak is an amazing example of a good adult animated film, and it's on Steam for about $1, currently. If you haven't gotten too far into the review and are scrolling by I highly suggest you watch it first. Be warned that it is quite sobering.
he mentioned padak at the beginning of the red shoes and the 7 dwarfs video and showed a clip of the fish cannibalizing another fish, so I was intrigued and watched padak (if you have amazon prime, its on there for free) and it did not disappoint. I got the padak dying part spoiled cause I accidentally scrolled to the end (oops lol) but it is still a fantastic movie
I also stopped in the review and watched the movie. Admittedly my heart sank when Spotty got killed and so brutally torn open by the Eel. *Shudders* I love the movie for its grimness but ack my heart and my stomach
literally me too, right before Spoiler alert segment cosme out, i bought and watched the movie. its a good movie. i'm literally spooked about those dead fishes. damn, it is spooky and scary with those real cannibalism.
If they're biting each other's tails that means they feel like they don't have enough space. Or it could be that some fish are just naturally super aggressive.
They'll also bite if they are stressed for reasons not related to space. Like if you have schooling fish but too small of a school or they don't feel safe. It really depends. Like a rosy barb will turn killer if there is only one but be baby with a school.
My family has had fish for many many years. We had a goldfish who outlived all the others, who mysteriously disappeared, so we believe the goldfish ate them.... :(
My mom has an aquarium and has guppies, I think (some are red but I think those died and now only the gold ones are alive). And she has a large pleco, the fish that like to suction themselves to the side of tanks. The fish may have eaten each other but I think the water just killed them. She cleans it but maybe the stress of being scooped out and the new water just didn't sit well with some of them. Either way, she still has about twelve or so of those fish and the pleco all in a 50 gallon tank so I think that the smaller number is for the best.
This film looks and sounds really terrefiying, but also really interesting. even though i probably dont have the the stomach or the nerves to watch it^^‘
This makes me think of another korean animated film, Underdog (2018), about a group of abandoned dogs. Its not as dark as Padak but it definitely has some dark underlying themes. Plus, the mayor of Seoul effectively shut down all dog slaughterhouses in the city after watching this film! I enjoyed it a lot and I hope it gets a dvd release in America someday. Check it out, I feel like you'd appreciate it!
@Mallory Baker unfortunately its not on any official streaming sites, but here's where i watched it! i checked the dailymotion links and password, it all still works :) twitter.com/_kyungsoo_lover/status/1119397667925217280?lang=en
*SPOILERS* I think one of my favorite parts about this film was when Flatfish saw Spotty's corpse and one of the water droplets on his head rolled down to his eyes, onto his lower eyelid, and then down his cheek, to look like he's crying. Really good visual story telling
I mentioned the name of this movie to my mom and she recalls watching it, smiling and exclaiming that it was a great movie. Growing up with Korean movies, they're brutal, but they always carry a good meaning with them for kids. Two other Korean movies I remember growing up with are Leafie: A Hen Into The Wild and Yobi the Five Tailed Fox. There was an even older one about a tadpole growing up into a frog (spoiler: he dies), but that one must have been from the 1970s.
A lot of movies meant for younger audiences just can’t accept a character’s death or the concept of it. Yes, it might suck but that is the point of having that lesson. They revive the character with magic or something. Even Pokémon from Japan does this a lot on their movies. Of course they couldn’t just kill Ash or Pikachu for real but pulling off that same stunt is cheap and boring. That teaches nothing to children. You risk your life and expect to be revived by tears?
@@aaron-gz Cycle of life my dude. Showing kids the fragility of life helps teach them to appreciate all life including their own and to make the best of the little time they have. (Although South Korea and Japan's education and work culture sort of destroys that meaning later in life.)
Felidae the movie is not that great. It butchers the plot so badly that it’s hard to follow unless you’ve read the book beforehand. The mystery is not played out as well as it is in the book and the main villain’s plans are not explained. I saw the movie before reading the book and I liked it only because it was the first adult animated film I’ve ever saw. After reading the wonderful weirdness that is the book, I dislike the movie. To spoil the book: Felidae is about human and animal relations. About how we are not that much different from the animals we share this world with. However, we use and abuse animals without ever appreciating them for what they are. The cats in the book might as well just be humans with fur just from how they talk and behave. Francis goes on entire monologues about how humans are gifted with great intelligence and ingenuity but we waste our efforts on sitting around and getting fat. We destroy our planet and the creatures within and do little to nothing about it. Francis doesn’t hate humans, he finds us frustrating. That’s what Felidae is about. The genetics stuff with the breeding just adds to this narrative. *GAINT SPOILER AHEAD* Pascal (aka Clawdandus) wanted to reverse the breeding process and brings cats back to their origin because of his intense hatred of humans. His ruthless actions to achieve one goal actually makes him the most human-like cat out of them all, thus becoming the very thing he despises I love Felidae so damn much and the movie does not do it justice at all.
2:04 Wait a minute... I think there's a character like the director who appear in the movie, passing by the aquarium watching them on his way home... OMG he self inserted himself and the origin of the movie in it aha that's brilliant
When it comes to movies and stories of any kind that make fully sentient living things being subjected to death at the hands of humans, the kind of horror I feel isn't, "What if I was put in their place?" For me, the horror element comes from me feelings as though I am the monster inflicting suffering on others and how they must be feeling. I have to admit, while I hate feeling that I've caused another living being to feel such dread and desperation or rather that I could potentially do so to said living being, I also think it makes for excellent and poignant horror and drama if done well. I don't know if that's just a me thing or if others feel that way as well, but either way, it's one of the very few things in this world that genuinely disturb me. In a way, I don't mind feeling disturbed because I like to think that when properly channeled, it can lead to worthwhile thought on the matter as well as creativity. Long story short, I think it's safe to say that this film is a prime example of exactly that concept. Something that really struck a cord with the director of this film in some way gave him a spark of imagination to make this movie in the first place and presented its message well.
@D Zuke I think the point that Ronin was trying to make was not that it's wrong to eat animals. That's survival and until we find a reliable substitute we will continue to do it. The point they were trying to make is that it IS terrifying to think you could be causing another sentient being such pain and suffering. And remember even though animals like cows can't feel the way we do, it doesn't mean they don't feel pain so causing undeserved suffering into other living beings is not acceptable. It should be as quick and painless as possible.
Thank you, Ronin. I’m not a vegan or animal rights activist by any means, but this movie gave me pause. When I saw the fish served while alive, I thought that was just an exaggeration of the fish’s plight, but then I discovered this is an actual dish called Ikizukuri. I know different cultures have different perspectives. But it does bother me that the fish are suffering in a way that seems unnecessary. If there’s a way we can preserve humane treatment of these animals before killing them, I think it’s worth pursuing.
That wasn't Paduk, that was a fish of the same species at the beginning of the movie. In the movie, you don't see when she gets chopped up. It's just a song of Flatfish singing to Paduk (Beautiful song) and then at the end, you just see her served on the plate.
Since your taking about animated films with dark and depressing subject matter. "Chirin No Suzu" (Chirin's Bell) is right up you're alley. Unlike Padak, it's a family film which has a very unique history. It's based on a children's book based on the author's experiences in WWII. The author suffered PTSD after the war and one of his ways of coping was by making children's books. While some were lighthearted, others such as "Chirin no Suzu" and "The Kindly Lion/The Gentle Lion" had some very depressing and dark subject matter for a kid's book. The Kindly Lion (The Gentle Lion) gained an animated adaptation in 1969, while "Chirin no Suzu" gained an animated film in 1978. However, Chirin's Bell is his most well-known work and gained a lot of different retellings in Japan. The 1978 is also made by Sanrio (Sanrio Animation) back when the company had their own animation division. They also made two Unico movies based on Osamu Tezuka's manga series of the same name. Seriously, Chirin's Bell (aka Ringing Bell) is one of the most fascinating things I've come across. The behind the scenes and real life information is even more interesting than the movie and book. Chirin's Bell is also the author's most personal work. Note: No I didn't come from Steve Reviews, since I heard about this movie (and book) years ago.
@@HowlingDoom Funny you mentioned that, since I actually emailed Saber a suggestion on the film (and original book) months ago. He currently has the movie on his "To Do List" and sent him a couple emails giving as much information and backstory to the film as possible.
Isn't that the movie about a Sheep who's mother was killed by a Wolf and therefore he wanted to be taught the ways of the Wolf and when he grows up he kills his mentor and therefore spends the rest of his life in the mountains cause he feels he is no longer sheep nor wolf.
ok but imagine an animated dinosaur film ala "The Land Before Time" but played for this level of darkness, oh and also the main character is the Velociraptor who at the end famously gets fossilized while fighting a Protoceratops. That would be lit.
As a kid, there actually was an animated... er... short movie... mini-series chunk...? And that fossil was part of the subject matter. It was done kinda in the style of a nature documentary, but also followed along the characters like an actual story, since there were in fact kinda actual characters. The main character was a velociraptor referred to as "White Tip" (none of the animals speak btw, but a couple get names)... Ah, okay, just googled it to make sure I could remember the title. Look for "Dinosaur Planet" and "White Tip's Journey", which follows a female raptor (they're feathered, woohoo!) who wound up on her own after her pack had been killed, so she had to figure out how to survive, and be accepted into a new pack. She's not the one who dies, though it's still kinda sad who does die. The ending isn't entirely sad though, because at least you get the sense that despite the hardships she endured in her life, White Tip's gonna manage and be okay. I guess with the basic story and the outdated animation it's not exactly mind-blowing, but I loved this stuff as a kiddo. Similarly, there is also "Pod's Travels". Pod is another velcoraptor, but in his story, a tsunami hits his island. He managed to survive after clinging to some floating wood debri and was stuck like that for quite a while before he washed up onto another island, where he had to survive on his own. Poor guy was really put through the wringer at the start, but the fiery lil' dude got things pretty darn good in the end.
You should review "Leafie, A Hen into the Wild". This movie traumatized me as a little kid, and I think there was a version where they cut off the ending. I really don't know what the theme is but I think it's about letting go and moving on and it's probably about excepting death. I'd be surprised if it was a kids movie in the US
I've been saying this for ages! And yes, I watched the original with subtitles, and was surprised to see an English dub being sold in the UK. However, the English version changes Leafie's name to Daisy for no reason, and cuts out a crucial moment in the finale. I wish I had returned the copy when I could've, what's the point if you can't get the original?
@@Nova-il8qe It was one of if not the hardest I ever cried at a movie. Like, EXTREMELY ugly crying. The only other I can think of that made me do that was A Monster Calls (also highly recommend, it's not fully animated but has some really beautiful animated segments).
I went down a rabbit hole on accident and I ended up finding a movie called Banana Joe. From what I can gather it's Hungarian. The movie art is, what I'm assuming is, Banana Joe holding a kid under his right arm and holding a huge bunch of bananas over his left shoulder like Santa Claus. Edit: Thanks to some fine gentleman in the comments, I can add on some information. The movie isn't Hungarian, it either German or Italian. The main actor is Bud Spencer.
Banana Joe is one of many Italian-German action comedy movies starring Bud Spencer. In the late 1970s/early 1980s was a HUGE star over here. It's not an animated movie though, so I wonder how you ended up there starting from this one :D
I loved this review and it totally made me buy the movie but I wish you hadn’t mentioned anything about padaks death because that was such a pivotal moment- I was already sold on everything else! That plot twist turned the optimism of Padaks perspective to a dark realism. I totally agree with you on flatfish, but I think his lack of range on his character spoke to his trauma. But I also wish that his charafter has been a little more “fleshed out”. This movie felt like the early seasons on walking dead or the first saw movie but “make it cute-fish”.
He did put a spoiler warning before he said it, and to make a good video he has to cover the beginning, middle and end, but I see where your coming from

EXACTLY! it's so annoying- also, even if the film IS a rip-off or close enough to be one, there are some 'rip-offs' with quality that only share one aspect.

That reminds me of a subplot that was originally written for Gill in _Finding Nemo_ , but was later cut, presumably for using the typical “liar revealed” story.
Am I a monster for putting my lizard in a vivarium
I own a tarantula cage and I have stuff to maintain it as well. The catch is that I don't own a tarantula, so when new people come over to my apartment, I always make sure to show them my "tarantula", but when they ask where it is, I simply reply "Oh he's a slippery one, he tends to bust out of his cage every now and then. Don't worry though, if you see him, just tell me so I can return him to his cage". Their shock is priceless and it keeps them on edge the whole time.
I think fish are more happy at sea though tbh
I would argue captivity is better than the wild in a lot of cases if it's done right. Plenty of room, companionship, mental stimulation, and no fear of starving or becoming a meal.
Another main part of this movie is that it revolves around fish being eaten alive. It's a type of food preparation in some places.
If anyone realizes that all the fish are moving when they are eaten its because the belief that food is best when fresh and fish are easily and quickly able to be eaten raw. So it conveys what it's like to basically be butchered alive and watch yourself be eaten. This movie should not be compared to Finding Nemo. XD

South Korean animation is so goddamned underrated. Unfortunately nearly every major animated film from South Korea has flopped at the box office.

Loved this movie. Fish are often even as far as animals humans kill for food goes- dismissed. To the point I know people who think just eating fish makes you vegetarian!
Yet recent science shows us that just like other animals fish are sentient and alive and feel pain (something until more recently wasn’t believed by the majority at all)
Most people will be aware a pig is smart or a cow feels pain but fish get much less consideration and to see a movie explore a story like this with fish as the characters is wonderfully dark and thought provoking
It reminds me of films like ringing bell chirin and leafie a hen into the wild, watership down or the plague dogs

literally me too, right before Spoiler alert segment cosme out, i bought and watched the movie. its a good movie. i'm literally spooked about those dead fishes. damn, it is spooky and scary with those real cannibalism.
I owned some fish that ate each other’s tails and it made me sad when they died. That’s when my family decided that we’d only have one fish
If they're biting each other's tails that means they feel like they don't have enough space. Or it could be that some fish are just naturally super aggressive.
That reminds of when sharks bite eachother so they can have fish adult fun fun time
*I'm sorry*

Most American kids movies are the opposite of korean kids movies...oof

I remember watching Yobi the Five Tailed Fox with a friend on Netflix some years back and we both enjoyed it
Another more horrifying animated film I would love to see you review: Felidae
That movie is available on UA-cam for free. I've seen it. I liked it but it is super dark and creepy. 🐈☠😱
*GAINT SPOILER AHEAD*
Pascal (aka Clawdandus) wanted to reverse the breeding process and brings cats back to their origin because of his intense hatred of humans. His ruthless actions to achieve one goal actually makes him the most human-like cat out of them all, thus becoming the very thing he despises
I love Felidae so damn much and the movie does not do it justice at all.
Yes yes yes!!!!
I know it’s not Saber but Steve Reviews did a video on Felidae if you wanna check that out!
i'm pretty sure he's already reviewed it
2:04 Wait a minute... I think there's a character like the director who appear in the movie, passing by the aquarium watching them on his way home... OMG he self inserted himself and the origin of the movie in it aha that's brilliant
Steam sells movies?
That’s what I really learned here
I’m surprised too! I just had the same thought!
Remember this saber:
*no matter how far you run, how long you hide, we WILL find you and make you review*
Same here with me
agreed
Same! I was thinking to myself the whole time, " Am I a monster for eating fish?"..it really gave me chills.
*when you watched the Steve Reviews video already*

Saberspark: spoiler alert, Padak dies!
Also Sanerspark: **shows bunch of scenes before of Padak getting chopped to death**
That wasn't Paduk, that was a fish of the same species at the beginning of the movie. In the movie, you don't see when she gets chopped up. It's just a song of Flatfish singing to Paduk (Beautiful song) and then at the end, you just see her served on the plate.
The 2d animated segments I'm seeing give me a Watership Down vibe.
I'm sure inspired by water ship down.
oh no
it's the bambi effect
both have the same effect
Reminded me of the Yellow Submarine stuff

You should DM it on twitter with this info.

I'd like to see it
That would be AWESOME.
Branwen LittleBird Omg I watched those literally every day when I was a kid

Padak is like a combination of Bestars and The Promised Neverland. I think this would be a great series if it became one

You should review "Leafie, A Hen into the Wild".
This movie traumatized me as a little kid, and I think there was a version where they cut off the ending. I really don't know what the theme is but I think it's about letting go and moving on and it's probably about excepting death. I'd be surprised if it was a kids movie in the US
yoooo good call, that movie slaps
I've been saying this for ages!
And yes, I watched the original with subtitles, and was surprised to see an English dub being sold in the UK. However, the English version changes Leafie's name to Daisy for no reason, and cuts out a crucial moment in the finale. I wish I had returned the copy when I could've, what's the point if you can't get the original?
That movie made me depressed for like a week
The ending of that is just depressing.
@@Nova-il8qe It was one of if not the hardest I ever cried at a movie. Like, EXTREMELY ugly crying.
The only other I can think of that made me do that was A Monster Calls (also highly recommend, it's not fully animated but has some really beautiful animated segments).
That looks freaking scary. I want to watch but I'm afraid of never sleeping again

Isn't Banana Joe a character from Gumball?
Banana Joe is one of many Italian-German action comedy movies starring Bud Spencer. In the late 1970s/early 1980s was a HUGE star over here. It's not an animated movie though, so I wonder how you ended up there starting from this one :D
I think the movie you mean is that one from 1982 right? If that's the case then it's from old west Germany or its Bud Spencer
@Cintrón Productions
Yeah but it's also a movie
It's not Hungarian but Italian-German, but Bud Spencer movies are _really_ popular in Hungary.
This reminds me of Netflix’s “Okja” about the lives of pigs who exist to be slaughtered
I heard of that film from South Korea which is directed by the same guy who also directed Parasite!
Those weren't pigs, they were crimes against nature! They looked like pig-hippo-manatee-Appa hybrids! XD
@Bobbie Pink I’m sold!

Liam Ryan I think you mean “aren’t sapient”, all living things are sentient (the ability to sense).

Oh this this is butiful
It’s like ever since Steve reviews made a review on this movie, I’m now suddenly seeing it everywhere
Ikr
Yep. Plastered all over my recommendations.
