Surprised by 101, "What do you want us too do" responce. The car is out of place. Surely the welfare of the owner would be the first concern? They should have thanked you for reporting it and then contacted the owner . Hopefully the car will be moved soon.

That car is taxed until July 24 and MOT until November 23. V5 last issued 17th July 23. Not showing as insured on MID database. Passed its MOT with 103k miles on it, with a caution on the offside CV joint boot and an advisory on the exhaust bracket….. but with a very low food hygiene rating on the kfc.

It’s how you report stuff that decides whether you get a response. If you’d said you think you thought you’d saw someone staggering away, they’d be there in minutes. Dramatise it but leave an element of doubt and they’re pretty rapid. I reported an ongoing assault once and I could tell they weren’t interested so added I saw a quick flash of something that could have been a knife, they were there virtually before the call ended. I’m sure the person getting a kicking was grateful, even if nobody else. 😂

Love the swallows. We had loads around our farm but they were replaced this morning by a flock of bee eaters. Similar flight and also after insects on the wing but larger and very colourful. Quite unusual in central France as more associated with the south. As you said, without livestock a lot of other species would suffer.

Its Taxed until 01/07/2024 and MOT 04th November 2023. The Vehicle has no insurance. Its dumped or stolen and depending on who owns that bit of land !! Police will look into it and unless its stolen its a council issue but they might not do anything with it until MOT and tax have run out. If its your land then get the scrap man out from a local breakers yard. If it appeared after you popped the bales in front of the gate it maybe the visitors were going to use it for lamping.
The police can identify the keeper and inform them to remove it. If its common land then its parish council responsibility many commons are owned by local authorities, the National Trust and other bodies for the public benefit. Yes your right on what will probably end up happening to it

  • @lee53_

Looking at that car, it doesn't show as having any insurance on it, so I think it is most likely they wanted to quickly discard of the car. Strange that it has just had tax put on it though, as that's £200 / year road tax. Would hope the police would be interested as it sounds very much like something that has been used in crime, especially as it seems they wanted to discard of it so quickly, so very disappointing really from them.

Personally, I'd leave it there a little longer. Someone could've genuinely broken down who's not from the area and parked it there while they try and get something organised to sort it out. I've been in a similar situation where the car has broken down and we've had to cruise it onto a grass verge beside a farmers field. It was the safest option as it wasn't obstructing the road and yes it was the farmers land but it wasn't affecting farm access. We had to go back at a later date with the recovery lorry once we'd organised it which took over a week and collect the car. Unfortunate things happen. Please don't drag it onto the road as some people are suggesting as it's quite dangerous especially as it looks to be on a bend. Maybe leave your phone number under the wiper blade and hopefully when the owner returns, God help something hasn't happened to them, they'll give you a ring and maybe leave you a few quid for your troubles. I wouldn't scrap it just yet especially as it's taxed and everything there's little to be suspicious about regarding it. Nice to see the Swallows Richard.

The thing is we've had a lot of trouble with fly tipping around here almost every week theres stuff being dumped in field gateways even in the fields sometimes if the gate has been left open. I told the police we been getting a lot of fly tipping and i said maybe this its the same person doing all the fly tipping and suggested to them that they could trace the number plate and do a bit of detective work and maybe that would leed them to the fly tipper.......they weren't interested.......the caravan is still there........hopeless

As it's on council property and taxed and MOTed, I think he would be risking getting done for theft and criminal damage if the owner suddenly showed up.
As someone else said, he would be better approaching it as a missing person. Someone parked this car up next to his field in the middle of nowhere then walked off, and hasn't been seen in over 2 weeks, express concerns for walfare, etc and it might get different results. I've not seen any more recent videos so I don't know how it actually turned out.

My immediate thoughts would be whether you could maybe tow or somehow move somewhere else or even just back a bit, closer to the road? Would the police or council be interested then? If it's a potential traffic hazard? Not saying you should leave it in the middle of the road or anything like that, just... you know, get it to move closer to it (all by itself of course)?
Mind-boggling, really, that no one seems to care... Then again, this sort of thing is where I REALLY like to get petty. I know you probably don't have that kind of time, but if it were me, I'd be calling or emailing (with pictures) all the people I can think of that are supposedly in charge of this sort of thing until they fix the situation (which you have already tried). If they act like they don't care, then their bosses are going to hear about it. If they don't care, THEIR bosses are going to hear about it. And so the story goes on and on, until someone SOMEWHERE gets really sick of me pestering them and just does what they were supposed to in the first place. That can be a 5 minute, couple of hours, or a multiple days process - but in the end, it usually gets me what I "want".
    A
Off the top of my head though, another angle could also be to try reporting it as an environmental hazard? I mean, vandalism and fire/torching are just some of the things that could happen, but considering how hell-bent people seem to be about the environment these days, you'd think something like potentially leaking oil or fluids would matter too? Whether or not it actually comes to that is almost irrelevant - someone just needs to be made to believe that it could. 🤷‍♀️
Best of luck and I really hope you get this all sorted sooner rather than later!

@@jameskidd900 I don't disagree, but from the sounds of it there didn't seem to be much interest and/or chance of outside help, making this a sort of DIY, or rather DHY (do help yourself), project. Even if the car was on council land, you are right, they really should have been more helpful in finding a solution. Then again, it is also true that none of us were privy to the phone calls or emails to them, so we can't really say for sure what reason the authorities had for not stepping in to help (police or council). Good or bad, the possibilities are endless, but in the end, knowing would not really change anything either and the car would still be stuck where it was. Which is why I tried to think of different practical (legal) things that could possibly work - because lets face it, we all have better things to do than messing about with reluctant authorities all day.

No insurance on the vehicle, mot till November and taxed till July 2024, I would suspect dumped, fill out a v62 form from dvla to apply for a log book if they send you the log book quids in if not it will notify the owners you have tried and give them a kick to come get it

As it’s taxed mot’d and probably insured the police won’t bother with it as long as it’s not stolen. It’s parked off the road so it’s not causing an obstruction. I know it’s not the answer you wanted to hear but the council should remove it.

It is disgusting. Had this last week with a wrecked car up the road which three days prior to it being wrecked had passed mot and taxed. Ridiculous scenario. Can u tow it into a barn ? Out of harms way ? Just a thought. Surely after an amount of time it becomes your property ? It’s a crazy country we live in atm. Best wishes

simple job on that car, very carefully drag it back to the road, and then put it in a safe wide spot and leave it, will soon vanish then. only need a rope and a slow tow, especially on the grass, just lift the rear end where the hand brake is, seen that done a good few times, with abandoned cars worked every time as its public land then not private like your gateway is

If it's taxed until next July it would certainly have been insured as of July 1st. Maybe a very simple explanation. If there's no obstruction there's little more you can do.
